I'm glad that it worked out. #BigHug

Hi mimilyrics , sorry this is off topic but I just need your opinion

From your posts, it seems like you work in the health field. Please I got offers to study nursing in Kingston and Bournemouth university. I’ve been finding it difficult to pick one. Please do you have any idea or experience with these universities or the city

Thank you

It goes without saying that London will offer your husband more opportunities than Bournemouth would, just like Lagos offers more opportunities than Enugu or Akure, however unsalubrious Lagos/London might be.

Glasgow is another city that offers some good opportunities for finance professionals.
Thank you so much !

I live in Bournemouth and it's also quite expensive too. It's 2hours + away from London by Coach and only an hour drive by normal car. Studio apartment gets as high as £800 per month.
Wow, really that’s quite high too. Thank you for your response.

Your husband is right. Trade finance is a niche sector and there is a higher chance he would secure a role in London as someone new to the country without any UK work experience.

Most banks, oil companies and boutique brokerage firms have their trade finance desks based in London. His experience is niche and if he's got a good Cv, if he has had exposure to the different systems/tools (e.g dow jones, refinitiv, etc) and he's able to proof his worth at interviews, he shouldn't really struggle to land a job fairly quickly.

A quick search on job boards further confirms this as 90% of trade finance jobs advertised on indeed and LinkedIn are based in London.

Tell your husband not to limit his job search to banks. He should consider oil companies (bp, shell), consulting firms (mckinsey, pwc, Accenture, deloitte, etc) including boutique firms like baringa partners and other brokerage firms (not just the big known names) as well as shipping companies.

The good thing about his experience is that he has got transferrable skills and he can pivot to risk and compliance roles such as Sanctions officer, sanctions manager which is a big deal at the moment.

Trade based money laundering is one of the major risks which a lot of firms try to identify, deter and mitigate so he should also consider a career in financial crime.

Top tip: to give him an edge in the Cv screening process, ask him to take out anything Nigeria from his work experience. E.g. if he works with standard chartered, lagos he should remove lagos. If and when asked at interviews which of the locations he worked, then he can mention Africa.

It appears your husband has done his research very well, so please, don't argue with him and consider the move to London. I give him thumbs up. Na man he be grin As soon as he gets the UK work experience and he's well settled, you can move out of London.

I know I wave the Scottish flag on this thread with pride grin but London is actually one of the best places to get a career break or the first step in the career ladder if you can ignore the associated high cost of living.

Wishing you both the very best and may God give you the wisdom and intuition to make the best choices. smiley

Oga Ralphlauren , its God that will bless you for me oh. Thank you so much for taking time to explain and respond. I really appreciate it

What's your husband's field/experience in banking? Let us know, so we can advice accordingly.

That said, the US investment bank, JP Morgan have a large operational office in Bournemouth.
International trade finance with cdcs certification
He also has experience in oil and gas

Hi guys, please permit me to post this question here, I just need advice from people already living in the UK

Please I have offers from Bournemouth university and Kingston university to study Adult nursing msc and I am having trouble deciding which to pick . I am well aware that Kingston is close to London so rent is so high but my husband is a banker and feels there would be more opportunities for him closer to London. Now if I pick Kingston are there areas with affordable rent we can live in , that is not so far from school ?

Please I would love to hear from people who have lived in Bournemouth or surrey please

Thank you

lol seems your right about it being common with boys o…thank you so much for your input
This crying seems to be more common in boys based on my experience and some of my friends ...but don't worry he would soon turn to a big boy. Maturity will stop the cry. .... my son was like this, and he is part of b/g twin which made it more obvious..... in my head i am like see your age mate does she cry like this . Now at 7 to 8 I am not needing to bring a bucket to catch those tears. It just quietly disappeared with age and time .

Thank you mamatukwas for opening this thread, I can already sense that it would be of immense help. Hopefully I’ll be in the UK by September God willing and thinking of how I’ll manage for 4 year old son. He can be very very naughty and cries a lot despite his age. He’s the type that cries at the supermarket , in school , church , everywhere and his sister is well behaved. Might sound somehow but thinking of leaving him in Nigeria with his grandparents because all efforts made to stop this habits have not been successful for now.

DEERAHZ:

Good day sis, please, which of the entry month are you applying for?
And does all this schools you mentioned require ielts test?
I am going for September entry, chose Plymouth, Derby.
Looking out for other schools to add. I am really considering the deposits and payment plans and I don't want to take IELTS exams.
Please any suggestions.

Hi sis , I’m applying for September 2022 session. I applied to Plymouth and derby too. I also applied to Dundee ( its 3 years tho)
Then via ucas I applied to Kingston uni, Bournemouth, uclan and uni of Manchester. I would strongly advise that you apply through ucas, as there are more schools and you’ll have more options to choose from in the end

With regards to ielts , some schools may waive it if you have B3 in waec( Bournemouth ) or your waec is less than 10 years old. I am also preparing to write ielts in march in case the schools make it compulsory

Lastly I received a notification that you tried to send me a message but didn’t see any message

Well I attended dundee interview for adult nursing. One thing I would advise is to be your selves watch the video and jot down what you observe according to NMC code of conduct. Mine was a group interview and it wasn’t hard. Remember to be natural and project you’re a caring person that posses all the C’s of a nurse.

Best of luck to you dear

Thank you so much sis
I really appreciate your response

[quote author=LuchiBianca post=109333037]You are better of differing to September or if they have may april for your course. You will not meet up and that's for sure. Don't waste your visa application fee.

Hi sis , hope you’re doing fine?

Please I have interviews with Kingston uni, Dundee and Bournemouth for adult nursing msc. Please did you do for any of these schools above when you were applying ?

Wouldn’t mind if I can get tips for the interview

Thank you

Plymouth also rejected my application because of study gap is more than 5 years. Their wahala too much. The oral interview is not the problem persay. Problem is the RPL aka work portfolio. That's where the hardwork comes in.
Adjust personal statement and try again. It helps strengthen your application. They need to see and feel your motivation. For Plymouth they would have stated how months experience they required of you. If you've acquired the number of hours that is needed you can always reapply. Did you apply to Bournemouth Uni?

Yes I’ve applied to Bournemouth , just applied yesterday, applied to uclan, uws, Kingston uni
Let’s see how it goes

I re applied to derby yesterday but for Plymouth I sent them a mail and they requested for 750 hours of practice which I no get ..I have about 250 hours for now ..so I’ll just forget about Plymouth jare ..also applied for social work in some schools.
Thank you so much for your time and response
Hope you’re enjoying the program

Hey, let's connect as we are almost in the same shoes.

I was also rejected by Plymouth but Derby moved me to the next stage but the portfolio writing is very very hectic. I'm almost done with the academic writing but the practice area is my concern as I don't have relevant work exprience so I just gave up.

I also got an invite to interview from Dundee so please let's keep in touch.

Their fees and the 3 years thingy is discouraging sha
Okay sis /bro …that would be nice
To be honest I’m just attending the Dundee interview to have an idea on what the interview process is like ..3 years is too long
Although I think they give 5k scholarship

The question they asked us for the written test was : why is socoal justice important to a social worker.
Oral interview was. Speak for 5 minutes on the challenges a social worker face. What is social justice. Importance of social justice. Why social Work. Why LHU. Principles of SW. Just YouTube social Work questions for uk admission interview.
You will most likely be asked case scenario questions like if you come across so and so what would you do? They always ask about social justice in SW interviews. Try and understand what it is. my interview for Lincoln I was asked to differentiate between social justice and human rights.I was even asked to quite any UK law I know. Lol. Thanks to my Nursing interviews and submsiison of work port folio I know UK health laws.
I'm going out now but will write more on the questions I got from the 3 unis I did SW interviews.
Good evening sis, I’m guessing you’re in the UK already studying adult nursing…if you don’t mind me asking, what school please?…I am currently applying for the same course and have an interview with Dundee next month …how were your nursing interviews?
Lastly I got rejected by Plymouth cuz of lack of experience in a hospital but I’m currently working in a hospital now ..do you think I can re apply?
Derby also rejected me because of my personal statement, according to them . If I make changes to my personal statement can I reapply or I should just move on

Would really love to talk to you beyond naira land if you don’t mind
Thank you

Thank God! Thank you.
Most schools are starting to request for ielts ..some have made it compulsory now..as nursing is becoming very competitive especially msc nursing ( pre-registration)…if your waec is older than 10 years, you would have to write ielts oh..if you have any grade below C4 in English, you might have to write it too. Like uni of derby rejected lots of people who did not have C4 in English and maths in waec. While for some schools , even if you have A1 in English, they would still require you to write ielts. For university of Bournemouth, if you have any grade less than B3 in English, you would need to write ielts

So just be prepared for any of the outcomes

Best of luck !

Hello guys
I’m about to apply for MSC adult nursing September 2022 intake but the major issue is that most schools require a previous job experience in the health care setting for a minimum of 400hours.
I have 2 questions
1)Is there any school that doesn’t require the 400hours experience?

2)Is it advisable to lie about experience in your cv?

The only school that doesn’t make the 400 hours mandatory is university of Dundee but the program is for 3 years and I think hertfordshire but they are closed for sept 2022.

I would advice you not to lie about your experience because a reference letter is usually requested from where you got your experience from and you would be given a portfolio to fill by the school , in which you would have to go into in-depth details about your experience and it would be signed off by your referee.
Its not too late to get care experience , you can volunteer in a hospital or a social care setting prior to resumption in September

Good morning house.

If one is not ready to go with his family immediately for a year Masters. Can he bring them to the UK after Masters with his 2 years post study visa?

No please. You can’t bring in dependents on the 2 year post study visa. It would be better for all your dependents to come before you finish your masters program.

For people who have studied or are studying any of these courses please can you tell me about your experience?

Good afternoon, please I have some questions and would be very glad if I can get clarity.. thank you
So I want to start the express entry process as the main applicant. So my issue is ...I graduated in 2018 and I served in a local government from 2018-2019, after service I started working in a school till date.

Please can i add my NYSC experience, with the current one to make it 3 years?

Also would I need to get a reference letter from where I worked during service or a reference letter from my current work place alone would suffice.

Thank you .

Hi mamas
So my BS is coming quite late..e ma binu o.
So edd was 19th/21st of March but on the 4th of. March I went for ante natal and prior to that day I had been feeling reduced movements from baby and I had been complaining about it at every visit but this particular day..my doctor advised me to do a Gtc, just to monitor baby's heartbeat ..after the test it looked like she was having decelerations so they decided to bring baby out the next day . I wasn't prepared for this at all, my mum had just been robbed the previous day and we were still trying to get police report and all..i had not packed my bags..i had saved some things for last minute buying ..so I tried to push the procedure till the following week but the doctors didn't want us to take the risk of something bad happening to baby over the weekend.
So I stayed back..told my mum to pack my bags and prepared for my cs the next morning. I was very nervous because i wanted to try for a vbac this time but my doctor was skeptical cz I've had a previous cs and during this pregnancy my final height had been measuring so far ahead ..they kept saying baby was going to be too big..so I decided to just go for an elective cs.
To be very honest my cs experience this time around was 100x better than my previous birth. Apart from it being elective, I was able to stay awake..didnt feel anything at all..it was quick, painless and just felt good. My recovery nko. The best..i don't know the exact reason sef, if it was the hospital or the way the doctor did it or just God but I wasn't in any pain like my first birth ..i was able to move well..eat, no swelling, it didn't feel like I just had a major surgery unlike with my first that I was in a lot of pain. I had no complications and was discharged on the 3rd day.. baby ended up being 2.8 kg to the doctors surprise..she wasn't big at all @37 weeks . I Thank God for everything..mama and baby are doing great.
I wish everyone quick and safe deliveries
Team March..i have submitted my BS o
