Propaganda achieves nothing.

When Mbakwe worked on Aba and set up the city nicely, all big Igbo men, industrialists, people returning from overseas etc moved there to live. Americans, Europeans, Chinese, Indians etc lived in the city and their kids attended school there.

People voted with their feet and with their money in investments. No need for joke propaganda we have here. Igbo land benefited and made a name for itself with Aba made.

Why does T.A, Ikuku and Ikpeazu need a propaganda army being paid by Abia State money here trying to fool people?

Abia and Aba in particular is the filthiest most decayed place in Nigeria. The truth about this will take center stage soon on a more global forum. No amount of propaganda can hide it forever or alter reality

Keep eating those crumbs from those politicians that are looting Abia dry and come here to defend mediocrity.
Those women and men owed backlogs of salaries in Abia, who go hungry every night, so that your masters can pay you your crumbs, their anguish and pains will be upon you and your generations unborn.
Continue. Your cup will soon full.

No one is a saint, but what is going on in Abia state since 1999 is sheer wickedness.

How can people be so wicked? Because of a few pennies they are given they promote propaganda that impoverishes Abians and destroys their future.

A couple of Igbo people I know living overseas have wanted to set up businesses that would employ hundreds of youths and pay them as much money as they would make in Lagos in Aba and help bolster the economy of the east. Unfortunately whenever we come to Aba (including this year) and see the horror the city is in we are left speechless and have held off.

If the criminal gang holding Abia hostage were removed tomorrow, the amount of investments pouring into the city would dwarf the crumbs T.A Orji, Ikuku and Ikpeazu give their propaganda army and provide massive employment opportunities for them.

A lot of Igbos would not need to move to Lagos anymore to secure high paying jobs

This will be the first and last time you will hear about this money. If you will hear about it again, it will be how they have embezzled it.

People here don’t understand the criminal enterprise that is Abia state.

TA Orji & Family and Ikpeazu are running a massive rogue enterprise with impunity in the state. They have built an army of propagandists who will defend them after they share this money and are confident they can get away with any level of criminality

Anybody who believes that any of this money will be used to build any road is a fool of the highest order.

Just search Ikpeazu and Port Harcourt Road here on Nairaland. He allocated billions to repairing that road and even flagged it off with Dave Umahi 3 years ago to much fanfare. All the money is gone and nothing was done.

so I guess that the owners of shell, innergalaxy steel mills, marketsquare, Genesis cinema and a whole lot of others (including the fg) are fools because they have invested massively in Aba since last year and 2020 ?. The other companies like geepee, Pz, Seven-Up, NB, Afribev, Glassforce, Vitafoam and many others are not reasonable for still operating in Aba?.
Apart from the ph road axis, I can comfortably say that no section in as is as dilapidated as you seem to think, it isn't propaganda since these year, I know how many pics of road construction in and has graced these thread, but some of you choose to glose over it.
To put all these to bed, choose a weekend to come over to aba and check out things for yourself then post pics on these thread.
Saying all the spoilt roads in aba metropolitan area can be done in a year is simply a fallacy

Dude you don't need to convince me or anybody else of anything. Its something that T.A Orji, his son and Ikpeazu don't seem to understand. Reality is a very stubborn thing that an army of propagandists will eventually bow down to.

To continue their criminal enterprise with impunity they have invested in a vast propaganda machine that believe they can alter reality and pretend that Aba and Abia State is better than it is and deceive people. All while Abia sinks below Zamfara, and the worst Northern states in Nigeria.

What they don't know is that not only can the criminal enterprise not last forever, it is a completely wasted effort that is destroying the most talented and promising city in the east.

Igbo intellectuals and rich industrialists who used to live in Aba now all live in Lagos. Igbo land is desolate. Our language and culture is being lost and our people are dispersed all around the world.

All so some criminals can keep enjoying the loot that they did not work for

There is so much that can be done to resuscitate the south East. We have failed so badly that our region competes with really poor regions of the north. I mean Zamfara generating more revenue than the great Aba and made in Aba within Abia State. All the western states are so far ahead of us except Ekiti.

If you guys want to understand why I’m sounding the alarm so much about Aba, look at Enugu for example

Enugu leads in IGR because it also has the most basic infrastructure in the south East. If Aba had Enugu’s Road management and waste management it would be the leading place in the south East.

It’s why I have little tolerance for the army of propagandists for the criminals holding Abia state hostage. They are damaging Igbo land and driving Igbos into oblivion. They are the most wicked actors in Nigeria’s political space.

All so T.A Orji, Ikpeazu and Ikuku can keep Igbo people in abhorrent bondage worse than anything Fulani’s are doing to the southeast.

seems some of you guys just want aba to be your whipping boy,.How many of you critics actually live or have a business in aba since the last 16 years?
be objective in your criticism, the present governor of abia hasnt been in power for 8 years talk less of building a flyover for so long-ohakim started a flyover, Rocha's completed it during the last year of his tenure but motor no fit use am,we no go see that one.
while this government is slow, he delivers quality projects.it would take quite a while to rebuild Aba roads after the two Orji ''s abandoned it-but road by road, the City is getting better.
for those shouting about how dead aba is, please mention the SE city with more multinationals than aba? Mention the SE city that has managed to displace Lagos in attracting fdi in the last 5 years?
if we are so gone, why is shell spending millions to expand its gas pipelines in the city when no other SE city has such an option?
men the least you can do is to no insult us-we are entitled to our opinion as you're to yours

Dude wake up. All the roads in Aba can be fixed in 1 year. All of them.

If Ikpeazu fixes only 25 miles per year since he came in , Aba’s Road network would rival Abuja’s

Stop endorsing trash man. It’s our people that are getting damaged by this. No reasonable person would see the filth that Aba is in 2020 and invest a penny there.

Propaganda is worthless and won’t fix this at all. We have millions in the diaspora and yet we can’t harness it. They look at the condition of the southeast and instead invest in Lagos and Abuja. Stop endorsing mediocrity and the outright rip off of our people please!!!

Look at where investing in propaganda instead of infrastructure by the Orji’s, Ikuku and Ikpeazu has left the most developed city in the old Eastern region.

They have destroyed a once thriving city. Their short sighted wickedness is destroying Igbo people and Igbo people are slowly going into irrelevance.

Some Igbo people seem to assume that we would always be relevant but due to the actions of people like the criminals running Abia state, people who were raised in Aba are not raising their kids there. They move to Lagos and Abuja and their children struggle to speak our language. The region is comatose economically as its industrial heartland has been destroyed by heartless leadership.

Look at IGR today. We laugh at the North but Abia and Imo are competing with Jigawa, Zamfara etc in IGR while we beat our chests and talk about Yorubas, Fulani’s etc

What do you gain from this? Nobody is running Aba’s image down. The city is in a horrific shape and no amount of internet propaganda can change that. For Aba to change we need to expose its dire condition currently.

What breaks my heart about Igbo land is that Igbo people have the most power of diaspora in Nigeria and can harness that to create a booming region.

It happened in Aba in the 70’s and 80’s. Nice city that Igbos from all around the world and foreigners could move to and live just like Lagos and Abuja today. All that is required is to create basic roads and drainages with side walks and basic sanitation so the city resembles a place human beings live in and not animals.

To repair every current road in Aba would take less than 100 miles of road repair. Any serious government can do it in a year.

Even a joke of a government that only repairs 25 miles of road a year in Aba would have the city with a better road network than Uyo or PH or Lagos or even Abuja.

If Ikpeazu handled only 18 miles of road a year since he was inaugurated Aba’s road networks would be the best in Nigeria in his 5 years. But the level of wickedness in his heart and that of his puppet masters is so much that they rather pay an army of propagandists to spend all their time on forums like this and social media pretending that the reality of Aba and Abia state isn’t what it is. They promote photo ops of the governor around manual cement mixers with wheel barrow and expect people to applaud it.

How can one be this wicked to his own home city killing its enormous potential and his own ethnic group
? Yet Igbo people here are fooled into thinking Fulani’s, Buhari, Abba Kayiri, Yoruba’s etc are our problem.

Wake the hell up my people!!! embarassed cry

Dude stop this silly trash you are doing. For a few peanuts from the people holding Abia state hostage (who think through foolish propaganda they can forever rip off the state) you are selling Igbo people down a river. They think they can perpetually run this criminal enterprise without consequence forever because TA Orji got away with it for 8 years.

There is a reason TA Orji’s sons enjoy Abia money in Abuja and don’t spend their loot in the state it was stolen from. Abuja is a real city while Aba is a embarrassment to Igbos and an absolute shitty filth.

What the state propaganda machine doesn’t recognize is that they are destroying what was once the pride of Ndi Igbo. They are harming Igbo people irreparably and erasing our identity as a people.

So many Igbo people around the world would bring investments and prosperity to Aba if only the people holding the state hostage understood how they are throwing away the jewel of Igbo land and it’s massive potential.

Shame on people who collect small pennies from the criminals ruining Abia state and post pictures of wheelbarrow cement mixers as evidence that the “governor is working”

These people are worse than Fulani’s/Yorubas/Buharis etc. that they complain about. Absolutely despicable scum

Cheers bros!

You can always get an idea of the kind of nwafors' you're dealing with based on the slant of their argument! Imagine saying the likes of the two Orjis', Ikpeazu, etc, are our problem! Yes they are a problem alright, but they are sympthoms of the problem and not the genesis of it!

Aba used to be Lagos of the East. If an Igbo man came back straight from USA or a Europe, he could relocate his family to Aba and raise his kids there. 30 years later Aba is an uninhabitable filth. Most big Igbo men lived in the city. Foreigners doing business lived in the city. Today it’s a ghost slum unfit for human habitation

Fulani’s and Yorubas are not the reason why a big city like Aba doesnt even have a single mile stretch of good road.

The governor has his media propagandists post him with wheelbarrow cement mixers and call it working on roads.

I weep so bad for our Igbo people. The foremost industrial Igbo Town is a shame on all Igbo people today. All so TA Orji and his son can keep the state hostage as their fiefdom.

If Aba doesn’t return to what is used to be and even better Igbo people are going to struggle in the south east. Hotels in Owerri and Enugu are fine and all but don’t an economic juggernaut make. The productivity of Aba of the 1970’s and 1980’s makes a productive juggernaut

Purehuman:
In the 80’s, 90’s, and early 2000s, the transport sector was firmly in the hands of the igbos. Alas, everyone has woken up, modernization and competition has made the sector revenue coming to the igbos drop considerably.

The Auto sector is still thriving but with the coming of technology and ease of import, people are going to the source to get some of these goods themselves. Another hit on us again.

The Commerce sector has been heavily attacked from everywhere. We now have very strong competition in these sectors and it is killing businesses.

What is the problem? The igbos do not control the economy of Nigeria anymore. We are not in control and our region do not hold any strong advantage presently in the scheme of things. If we ask ourselves, what does southeast have that Nigeria depends on? Nothing. There is something about being unimportant. The only importance of the east is it’s people and the people’s capacity are being challenged continuously.

The igbo to survive really need to devise a strategy of total control of the sub Saharan market. We can be in control without having the capital city in our hands. We can create the biggest economy in Africa if we strategize very well.

There is a misused power in Nigeria that needs to be taken but if only we plan to take it, our freedom will surely be taken from us. Remember that every policy in Nigeria has not favored the igbo people in recent times. It has strangled us in no small measures that we will need to create a new route towards economic development.

I found out many of us in this thread have spent most of our times trying to micromanage our small development when others are eating fat on the total revenue of the country. Do we still have really big businesses in the east that can develop and generate funds for the region?

Do we have healthcare system that take care of us during our bad times and also redirect the over 1billion dollar’s Nigerians spend on health tourism around the world?

Do we have the capacity to create an economic giant from igbo land? Or should we maintain our state of economic comatose.

If we do not do something right now, we will regret it. I have always said it “our best times should be tomorrow not our yesteryears.”

Thanks for being honest. Some Igbo people here lie to themselves all day and pretend the Southeast is an economic juggernaut when in reality a lot of people are even scared of going back home because of kidnapping and most influential entrepreneurs have fled to Lagos (and some Abuja)

Cities like Aba that used to be the industrial heart of Igbo land has been rotting while people who are destroying places like Abia state engage in silly propaganda even on this platform

What is so sad about what South east leaders are doing is that they are eroding our ethnic identity slowly. When our kids are born in Lagos,, Abuja or overseas to parents who run away from Igbo land and dont spend anytime there anymore because its comatose economically and unsafe, these kids lose our language and our culture slowly fades away. Our identity dies bit by bit

Our problem is not Fulani, Yorubas or any of these things we waste our time on. I weep whenever I see all these arguments on here. Our problem is Ikpeazu, T.A Orji, Ikuku and the likes. They are the one destroying Igbo land

Igbo people need to realize that until Aba's plight changes and power is removed from the hands of the Orji clan and their stooges (like Ikpeazu), the southeast WILL keep falling behind. The place that powered manufacturing and industry along with commerce in Nigeria has been turned into a complete wasteland. A city with amazing promise and ability to be a leading city in Nigeria turned into a trash dump.

Forget about Hausa/Fulani and Yoruba's and turn all the fire power to changing Aba. The whole Southeast and surrounding areas like PH and Uyo would benefit massively from it.

Igbo's primary battle before Igbo presidency, who built Lagos, Yorubas and Hausa/Fulani etc is to get their premier city functioning again. It should be to change the horror that is Aba

My dear the night life aspect is killing.
Umuahia is dead zone once it's 9pm, because business are dead and crime is the order

I feel really bad for Abia people. ANybody who thinks their current level of existence is tolerable has either never left Abia and environs or is a paid sycophant. Once the sun goes down life outside is virtually over. Aba wasnt like that in the 1980's the town was flooded with powerful street lights and traffic lights, roads had markings, side walks and covered drainages, cinemas and night concerts were a thing too.

The people are not living they are just existing currently. Aba is a decript filthy town (ex-city) with huge refuse dumps and Umuahia is basically a village (ex-town) that's very dirty as well

Meanwhile the people who kept them in those conditions are enjoying life full time in Abuja with Abia state money. The live in 15 million Naira per annum modern complexes that look like what you see in 1st world countries that don't exist anywhere in Abia State. They move around on beautiful 6 lane boulevards at 3am every weekend in Abuja to and fro from different wonderful night clubs. They go to modern shopping complexes and malls, spend their weekends in multiples cinemas and parks, order pizzas, burgers, French fries etc and things to be delivered to their house. Modernity that is completely alien to Abia State

Meanwhile some sycophants collect a few thousand Naira and promote propaganda. Unlike propaganda like "Aba mega mall" and "Aba flyover" etc, Abuja malls are actually real malls and Abuja flyovers and roads are actually real. So sad

Frozen Brain!

I asked you simple question and you keep dabbling into frivolities.
Mention one single standard Road project in entire Abia and post pictures here ...I dare you?

Abia receives more revenue from FG than any state in South East and should easily be the highest in IGR in same South East , but juxtapose same to level of development accros south East and tell me how Abia is developing?

Abia is virtually the only state in South East that can't pay salaries without federal allocation

Ebonyi, Enugu ,Anambra all pay salaries without federal allocation...Imo we know the Okorocha syndrome

Umuahia is a glorified village with dumpsite all over.

Aba is littered with substandard road with no drainage

Even political appointees of Ikpeazu praise him in the open and castigate him behind because he's ineffective useless stooge, but you who knows nothing about Ikpeazu and his style of government believe " Ikpeazu is the best thing since slice Bread and moi moi?"... tufiakwa!

These guys are paid peanuts to defend the indefensible

What they dont realize is that because of Aba's potential, if some decent level of infrastructure came into the town, they would have the opportunity of making 10 times as much as the Governor pays them to defend him online.

There are threads on Southeast Development here on Nairaland showcasing hundreds of pages of development in each thread of Enugu, Anambara, Imo, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Ebonyi

There is none for Abia because of the decayed condition of the state.

Uyo was a really small town compared to Aba. Awka was a really tiny town compared to Aba. Owerri and Enugu too were behind Aba. Today Uyo is far more developed and Owerri and Enugu are much father ahead of Aba now. Even Awka has taken strides in development.

I weep for Aba and Abia people but I also weep for people who collect peanuts and defend the filth that Abia is today

Meanwhile their political patrons and their families spend all their time in Abuja (An actual city with full blown nightlife, street lights, traffic lights, pedestrian lights, 6 way lanes, night clubs, malls, cinemas, parks, shopping complexes, boulevards etc) when they could easily develop Aba to be at least Port Harcourt or Uyo or Enugu or Owerri levels
.

Here is one of the imbeciles deceiving Otti and Ogah, are you tired of showing old pictures pigglet? Show us faulks road, show us Portharcourt road, show us MCC, show us umuocham, show us omni, show us umuola and Ehere road, show us Ibadan street, show us St Michaels road by jubilee, show us umuojima, show us ugwu mango by umule road, show us those filled asepa dumps you're known for in 2014 before elections.

Degrading yourself for pennies while Aba's potential as a world renowned city and immense opportunities that come with that especially for the youth withers away.

Aba is in a state of complete filth and decay now. A serious leader can make it a brand new city in 18 to 24 months max. If you rebuild 25 to 35 kilometers of roads in Aba it would become one of our leading cities again. Instead they leave you in filth and go to Abuja and spend their time in a clean, serene and sane environment that actually looks like a city while employing sycophants and paying them pennies to degrade themselves online and defend a city they abandoned to be a rotten dump.

Tell me one major project he have commissioned after 4 years?
Take a look at Aba road in Umuahia that is not up 2klm is abandoned half way.Stop praising mediocrity and looting going on in Abia state.

The insanity of people who support the current rot in Abia is immeasurable.

Abia and Aba in particular are in a state of total decay. The funny thing is that if you did like 35 KM of solid roads in Aba with sidewalks it would look like a brand new city.

People who are ok with the filth that is currently in Aba have either never left the state or paid sycophants of the current and previous govt.

The resources of the state are being used to enrich a few and the people in power feel this sense of impunity due to their rigging machine.

I'm sick of this mediocrity

It's one after the other

This is the type of mentality that allows mediocrity to rein in Igbo land. All those roads are a few kilometers long and can all be fixed in the same year within a few months at the same time

I weep for Igboland sha. Imagine praising the state Aba is in
