Could this be a book about a poor mallam that lost his betrothed to a rich man and then went in search of an herbalist to help render their only child useless?
It's been long I read that book, but a phrase I will never forget I read in the novel was when the betrothed told the poor Hallam that, a woman is like a cloth in the market; it's not the first person that price it that eventually gets to buy it.
Damn! That phrase stuck to my mind, though I was in pry 4 then when I read the book.
Your narration is from the Novel "An African night entertainment ". The passport of Mallam Illia is another Novel
Zayttoven: Sometimes I wonder how I fell in love with reading novels. I presume it was out of sheer curiosity. Although I no longer read novels, I can't help but reminisce on the good ol' days.
I've read a lot of novels from authors such as Dante Alighieri, Leo Tolstoy, George R.R. Martin, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Stephen King, Dan Brown, Agatha Christie, J.K. Rowling, Mario Puzo, Robert Ludlum, J.R.R. Tolkien, Sidney Sheldon, George Orwell, Tom Clancy, James Patterson and our very own Chinua Achebe just to mention a few.
My personal favourite would be Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky.
What's yours?
So many, I can't settle for one It would have been easy if you narrow the question to a certain continent, country or Era in human civilization.
Originalsly: Hmmm .... she's embarrassing the Pastor. For her safety ... I just hope other church members don't join with her and reduce the Pastor income or all hell will break loose.
Mryacks: Unfortunately, the problem these three guys (Jude,Peter,Paul) have is that are each saying the truth from their own perspective and sprinkling a little like with it. All in an attempt to not look like the one who is at 'fault'. They have not addressed the root cause of the matter as it is, but every one of them is just desperately trying to prove the others fault.
From hearing them, you can clearly denote that that one of the major problem is their inability to separate "P-square money" and "Mr. P money" , "Rudeboy money", "Mr. Jude Engees money" etc....if only they will each stop been envious of what they get as individuals base of off their brand money and concentrate on sharing only P-square money as the corporate income then they will be fine
PSQuare money as a group has gone lower than their high days....so they are casting eyes on their selves to see if one of them is still eating fat from P-square money. I think Peter specifically has a problem with that
Samson Siasia’s Five-year Ban Over, Free to Return to Coaching
One of Nigeria’s most decorated football coaches, Samson Siasia, has become a free man to return to the sport again after serving a five-year ban by FIFA.
The former Nigerian international who clocked 57 years two days ago, was initially banned for life for allegations of match-fixing by FIFA.
Siasia fought the ban imposed in 2019, trying to prove his innocence in the allegations of accepting to work in the Australian League under the terms of a known match-fixer, Wilson Perumal.
However, succour came the way of the Bayelsa-born gaffer when the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) reduced the ban to five years and the $50,000 fine quashed.
Today, August 16, 2024, is Siasia’s Freedom Day to return to the football business.
With a CV that shows Siasia as the only indigenous coach to win silver and bronze medals in the Olympic Games men’s football tournament in 2008 and 2016, plus a silver medal finish in the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in 2005, he remains the most successful to-date.
With the Super Eagles job vacant following the resignation of Finidi George, speculations are rife that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) may once again look in the direction of Siasia who has had two stints at the position.
However, other opportunities may also be available. Several clubs in Nigeria’s domestic leagues, including the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and Nigeria National League (NNL), are reportedly interested in securing Siasia’s services.
Among these clubs is former NPFL champions Mighty Jets, who are said to be in discussions with Siasia about a potential role.
Before his ban, Siasia held a U.S. Soccer Federation coaching license and had achieved significant coaching success.
