That is the way of these people. Soldiers have been dying everyday in the NE, killed everyday in the SW but since some people took over the army, they now publish the name and pictures of soldiers killed in battle with bandits in the SS just to score some useless political goal.

Can they do this with the Northerners?

Since you have refused to learn from the Odi Massacre of 1999 in Bayelsa, the FG will instill into you recalcitrants, the discipline that your parents refused to teach you at home.

The nonentities that are jubilating over the gruesome killings of our gallant soldiers will get what is coming to them. It’s just a matter of time.

It will soon reach Ogun and Ondo, if not the Army, because you control it, bandits will show you shege. Keep rejoicing.

What do you people want for God sake. Army kills innocent people in SE you rejoice, now Army are killing innocent people in SS, you are rejoicing. This says a lot about your tribe.

Please which promise has Tinubu kept since May 29?

Tinubu has kept most of the promises he made. He stopped paying subsidy on petrol, continued from where Buhari stopped. The only promise he didn't fulfill was to turn Nigeria completely like Lagos, where only a few rich men can survive, but i believe, he will soon achieve that feet.

They voted for Buhari twice against GEJ and Atiku just because the Igbo supported a different candidate, now they voted for another failure against the man whom was projected to lead Nigeria to glory because they wanted to teach the Igbo a lesson.

low demand makes prices drop, not 'too many economic activities'

Lol, that is the only one you know. Too many economic activities means that there are too many goods waiting for fewer buyers, with that, price drop.

If you find yourself in a street where 100 people are selling pure water, pure water will be cheaper in that street than one which have only five pure water sellers. That is the situation in Onitsha, reason why things are relatively cheaper than in other Southern cities.

If you look at the 4 deckings in Awada and Omogba alone, you will know that Enugu does not have 4 decking building, that is the reason we don't categorize Enugu as state with 4 decking. Even Owerri has more 4 decking than Enugu.

pls what make Enugu that expensive compared to Onitsha ? Because Enugu is not as commercially bussy as Anambra

That is one thing about economics, Onitsha is economically busy than Enugu, there are many sellers and same commodities, of course, there will be competition to sell, if you don't sell at a price they buyer wants, someone else will want to, so there is consumer power.

In terms of houses, Onitsha has the highest rental houses in Nigeria, as 4 decking houses are scattered all over the town. In Enugu, you will hardly see, 4 decking building, hence the high cost of most bungalow in Enugu.

I mean, this Unizik Teaching hospital annex is in Ukpo town but people are prefer to buy from City to buying locally here...Nkpor, Onitsha bypassed altogether

Things are f***** expensive here in the East

What do you people especially the Yoruba's gain from spilling lies, unless they sent for food such as Amala and ewedu leaf that is not found in Awk. Let me clear your doubts, you are talking with someone who lives in Npkor and who is into the food business.

Paint of rice good grade is #4500 in Npkor, you can never get that in Southwest.

Paint of garri is #1600 in Awka.

Paint of iron beans is #4400 in Nkpor, you can not get that in Lagos

Paint of UTC tomatoes is #3500 in Nkpor, you will not find UTC tomatoes that cheap in Southwest.

In fact, most of us selling rice and beans in bags in Onitsha/Npkor are complaining of not making good profit because it is cheaper compared to what our counterparts in Asaba, Warri and Lagos sell. When you want to lie, don't do that in a public forum.

I repeat, your corper friends are sending Yoruba foods like Ewedu and Amala which can not be found in Awka.

Here are a few prices of some items in the South East, Nigeria:

Anyone that could explain the 'Psychology' behind this should do so.

(Please compare it to your region)

1. Kg of Gas: N1450.00

2. Bag of pure water: N500.00

3. Bread: N1400.00 - N1800.00 (yes)

4. Average Keke/Bike trip: N200.00 - N300.00

5. Local Rice: N52,000.00 - N59,000.00 (lower)

6. Cement (80% BUA): N7000.00

Better off or worse?

Someone with just wake up come online and start writing figures and generalize to a whole region, which part of the East did you get this fiqure because in Onitsha;

Lowest grade of local rice is sold at 40k (10 paint rubber)

Pure water is 350 per bag

Keke rideis between 100 to 200 naira

Cooking Gas is 1300.

Note, Anambra is by far one of the cheapest place to stay in the whole Southern Nigeria, as there is too many economic activities which brings competition and by extension, price reduction. It will shock you that a 3 bedroom flat is just 200k and 240k depending on how new the house is in Onitsha.

Politics / Re: Nigeria Is Back On Track Economically – Tony Elumelu Hails MPC Decision by Saintinoo(m): 6:18pm On Mar 08
Thissystem:
Chairman of the United Bank for Africa, UBA, Tony Elumelu, has said Nigeria is on the right track economically following the decisions of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, at its last Monetary Policy Committee, MPC, meeting on February 27.

Recall that the CBN had during the meeting, raised the Monetary Policy Rate, MPR, by 400 basis points to 22.75 percent from 18.75 percent as part of its tightening policy of the monetary space.

The business mogul in an interview on Thursday expressed cautious optimism that Nigeria is ‘getting there’, emphasising that ‘transformation’ takes time and it is the right time to keep going with the current reforms

However, he stated that authorities must be consistent and focused in their policies to ensure they yield the expected results in the medium to long term.

“Of all the decisions the Central Bank took at the last MPC, if I were there, those are the exact decisions I would have taken in the circumstance.

“Hopefully, let us continue and not relent. It’s still early days.

“This is just the starting, but it seems one can be fairly and cautiously optimistic that we’re getting there. We are on the right track,” he assured.

He also expressed optimism that the value of the naira will start rising substantially against the dollar.

“What I know as a transformation person is that the transformation journey takes time. And, you know it comes with a few initial pains, but (it’s good) to stay focused, stay the course, be consistent, be sincere and be committed to it.

“What I see, you know, I mean fixing the issues, making sure that interest rate is not negative to the investor, making sure that … it’s an inflationary situation and that we’re contracting as much as possible, so that we have fewer Naira chasing dollars, giving confidence to the market”, he said.

https://dailypostngr.com/2024/03/nigeria-back-on-track-economically-tony-elumelu-hails-mpc-decision/

Because the increase in MPR mean that people like Tony and his UBA will earn more from interest rates from investors, of course he will applaud the decision.

Nigeria, home of animals.

Imagine the price of fuel in Ghana is 50 cede and you tell me that it is 2000 naira equivalent.

When making this, you look at the purchasing power parity of the currency against the other currency. If fuel is 50 cede in Ghana, and when 50 cede is changed to naira, it become 2000 naira, fuel is cheaper in Ghana than in Nigeria because they are different economy with different PPP.

You don't compare price of goods in other country with equivalent of your currency with there own.

I sincerely hope that you're not a graduate. That's the only way I can rationalize and justify this post.

"You have been dealing with data on GDP since your diploma days" but you don't know the contributions of each sector to your GDP? You don't know the difference between SMEs and MSMEs? You don't know the contribution of MSMEs to the employment rate? But you'll rather scream Dangote, bla bla? How many people in your generation work with Dangote? How often does Dangote consult you for a loan??

Don't worry, whenever I have to discuss "copy and paste" final year project works like you did in your diploma days, I'll tag you.

My line of thought differs from whatever you have posted here. I apologize for the initial mention. It's such a waste of time and intellectual property.

But I'll try to help you for the last time.

Nigeria has 21 commercial banks
The UK has 375 commercial banks

Nigeria has 916 microfinance banks
The UK has 60 CDFI (aka microfinance banks)

Nigeria has 300,000 cooperative societies
The UK has 7,000 cooperative societies.

Now if you were a 4-year-old toddler, would you apply the same policy measures taken in the UK in Nigeria just because these policies worked in the UK? Answer like a 4-year-old. That's enough.

I gave you a good analysis of how an economy work, but as usual, you are beating round the bush with data probably from worldbank.

I will continue stating more facts just as I have done in the last post. Go back and check the contribution to GDP in the last two years, only trading came second to manufacturing sector in GDP contribution.

You have refused to answer any of my questions, but rather you continue beating around the bush. Tell me the co operatives that can give loan to the MSMEs you are talking about, what do you think grows a nation economy? How many businesses in MSMEs produces most of the FMCG in Nigeria, you think it the local bread producers that grow the economy?

For your information, most businesses in SMEs depend on big manufacturers for raw materials for their products.

I know people who no nothing about the economy when I see one, always bringing forth data they saw online without a critical analysis if these data can be compared to developing economies like ours.

There is really no need arguing about the economy with you, because I so much believe that you know nothing about economics aside going online to download data as a point of argument.

For your information, I carried out my thesis all by my self, with the help of a professor, and can defend that anywhere in the world.

One last thing, I will tell you this as a trained economist, you do not compare different economies in order to getvyour economy working, so keep comparing Nigeria to UK shows that you know nothing about what you are saying.

Go to your state, probably ask the businesses over there to shun banks and collect loans from co operatives. Akara selling economist.
