Good day to you all....it is not a new thing that even before the admission list of most schools comes out the Joint Admission matriculation Board(JAMB) has started advertising another UTME form for the next year admission....I am here to guide to and make you be informed cus it is said that if you are not informed you be deformed.

Some people have done their exam in their various institutions some have scored high and are very sure of their admission, some scored average and are not certain while other scored very low and are still optimistic but don't be broken yet it is too early to give up.

Although the pass rate of this year's west african examination council (WAEC) is not encouraging but the candidate shouldn't lose hope cus their are still some exams that they can sit for to cover up for the F's and D's they scored in their results.

First I will be analyzing what the exam(UTME) itself is all about(the aim, syllabus, brochure, how to score very high) and all the institution in Nigeria (their subject combination, cut-off mark, and all the do's and don't to follow so as to gain admission.

The result looks just like mine so I will tell you what I did.

I studied Psychology (UNILAG) with 5 credits- Mathematics, English, Biology, and any other 2 subjects. Graduated with a 2:1 hons and I work in a company where salary for entry level is above N200k monthly take home.

The way Nigeria is right now, graduating at a young age is more important than a good grade. Take for instance a 28 years old First Class graduate and a 21 years old second class graduate, the younger graduate can attain 2 Masters and 7 years work experience by 28.

Encourage her.

You are very correct bro! The only set back I could see is that out of the 5 credits, 2 are wide apart; Government and Commerce. These two subjects are meant for 2 different professions. She had just 3 general subjects; Maths, English and Biology. Then, 2 subjects of different fields; Commerce(Commercial class) and Government(Art class). I wish she had Economics instead of Government or Lit-in-English instead of Commerce, as the case may be.

My piece of advice; I'll suggest she writes the exams again, and go for a better result. She shouldn't give in so soon. Unless there's no fund for it. I wish her the very best of God in life. #'Dipo!

TV/Movies / Re: Game Of Thrones: Why It Makes Sense For Jon Snow To Marry Sansa Stark. by samJ17(m): 2:49pm On Apr 16, 2017
Celcius:
Gather round, children of Westeros. It's time we talked about a gigantic elephant in the room on Game of Thrones.

As you may recall, last season yielded a pretty triumphant outcome for the North. During the epic
"Battle of the Bastards," as it was called, Sansa swoops in to save Jon Snow's army, which leads to the defeat of Ramsay Snow and Jon's new title: King of the North. Based on Sansa's newfound badassery, many fans couldn't help but wonder if she might help rule the North in some way. After all, Jon Snow may have been crowned, but he's technically a bastard. As a pure Stark, Sansa may be just as entitled to lay claim. This leads to an inevitable, strange, and not altogether unlikely compromise: maybe the two will just get married.

Before you say anything, we know. It might be a little bit creepy. I mean, the two basically spent their formative years as brother and sister. It would be a very strange jump to have them suddenly married. Even Sophie Turner herself talked about the issue during last year's Game of Thrones panel at Comic-Con. "Sansa and Jon have grown up together, they may as well be siblings. They have that sibling rivalry. I don't know, but I swear to god Dave [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss], if you make anything happen, I'll kill you." Well, there's that. It's clear Turner is kind of against the whole thing, and she has a fair point. Then again, let's take a moment to explain why it's entirely possible.
Related:

First of all, incest is already a prevalent theme on the show. Cersei and Jaime Lannister are clearly in love and more than willing to persist regardless of social stigma. So, that automatically means it's possible for Jon Snow and Sansa Stark to pair up. Furthermore, you have to consider that there are levels. Technically, the two are cousins. As we learn at the end of season six, they don't even share a parent. That doesn't make it much better than brother and sister, but still. It matters.

There's something else to consider too: maybe it's just a smart political move. After all, it's clear Sansa's got some brains and supreme strategy and even the ability to accrue proper back-up. She could prove very, very valuable to Jon Snow. Maybe they'll just have a fun, platonic marriage with all the benefits of ruling a kingdom and none of the potentially awkward sibling sex.

Education / Re: What you can do with Linguistics by samJ17(m): 7:23am On Apr 14, 2017
Divepen1:
Linguistics is, broadly, the scientific study of language, and many topics are studied under this umbrella. At the heart of linguistics is the search for the unconscious knowledge that humans have about language(s), an understanding of the structure of language, and knowledge about how languages differ from each other. Linguists investigate how linguistic knowledge of this kind is acquired, how it interacts with other mental processes, how it varies from person to person and region to region (even within one language), and how computer programs can model this knowledge.

They study how the structure of language (such as sounds or phrases) can be represented, and how different components of language interact with each other (such as intonation and meaning). Linguists work with consultants who speak different languages, search corpora, and run carefully designed experiments to answer these questions about language. (Yes, linguistics is a science! By now, you can see that linguists may benefit by knowing multiple languages, but you can see that this is not the full extent of what a linguist does.

As students of linguistics, there are two basic reactions got from people who inquire us about our field of specialization. One is to ask of the number of languages we speak, the second is to treat us as phonics prosecutors.

Contrary to the widely conceived notion as to the non-lucrative status of Linguistics as a field of inquiry, the socio-cultural ideology and perception of the subject matter did place a limitation to the imaginations as to the extent to which the field can be applied. Besides the teaching profession as many believe linguists end up with, there are several professional fields linguists are found. A few of these fields are;

Work in the computer industry: Linguists may work on speech recognition, search engines, and artificial intelligence.
Work as a translator or interpreter: Skilled translators and interpreters are needed everywhere, from government to hospitals to courts of law. For this line of work, a high level of proficiency in the relevant language(s) is necessary, and specialized training may be required. Nonetheless, linguistics can help you understand the issues that arise when a message is communicated from one language to another.
Work in the publishing industry, as a technical writer, or a journalist: The verbal skills that linguists develop are ideal for positions in editing, publishing, and writing.
Work with dictionaries (lexicography): Knowledge of phonology, morphology, historical linguistics, dialectology, and sociolinguistics is key to becoming a lexicographer.

Become a consultant on language in professions such as law or medicine: The subfield of forensic linguistics involves studying the language of legal texts, linguistic aspects of evidence, issues of voice identification, and so on. Law enforcement agencies such as the Secret Service and police departments, law firms, and the courts hire linguists for these purposes.
Become an actor or train actors: Actors need training in pronunciation, intonation, and different elements of grammar in order to sound like real speakers of a language or dialect. They may even need to know how to make mistakes to sound like an authentic non-native speaker. To enhance your chances of finding a good job after graduation, you might choose to double-major and make your linguistic work part of an interdisciplinary program of study. A secondary specialization in an area such as psychology, computer science, the speech sciences, education, journalism, philosophy, or a foreign language complements a Major in linguistics nicely.

The list is endless as the field of Linguistics is an interconnecting web between other fields of inquiries; talk of Philosophy, Sociology, Anatomy, Anthropology, Computer Science, etc. Sub-fields of Linguistics include Psycholinguistics, Computational Linguistics, Neurolinguistics, Sociolinguistics, Phonetics and Phonology, Morphology and Syntax, just to mention a few. A field of linguistics currently generating much interest is Forensic Linguistics; a field of Linguistics which makes use of the scientific application of language to solving crimes.

After digesting the exposition above, you may want to pack up your bag and port to Linguistics…

Hi, guys i really can't explain were the problem came from, i read my ass out, i even did midnight reading buh in the exam hall i always forgot what i read, am doing 11 courses and am not even sure of passing more than 2 courses, the first day i stepped my leg into the school gate, i didn't like the school, a new federal university in one village like that, the school have a low tolerance of exam malpractise, u can't even sort any lecturer, i heard the school doesn't tolerate low cgpa and am afraid of being expelled because of low cgpa, i did very poorly in the exam, the school spaced everybody doing the exam period, i planned to find out from a jujuman what is wrong with me, i need help, my parents spent a lot of money on me i can't afford to let them down
let me tell u something about reading books(mainly for studying/exams) I sense u started reading a few days to your exams and u read your ass out especially the night before exams, wrong!!!! how do I expect to remember wen u read close to your exams when I was in school I used to read everytime that means I had a time table when u read every given day wat u need to do few days to the exams is just revision try this study everyday and given time as if u hv exams the following day/week u'd get used to it that wen the actual exams comes while others r busy trying to go through their books u r simply revising Becos u hv gone through DAT already and ur brain has gotten used to it there is no way U can ever forget in exams,2ndly sometimes lectures just comes & give tests so as a student u always hv to be prepared try to read atleast once everyday
