Politics / Re: PPPRA sets Guiding Price Of Petrol For March At ₦211.11 Per Litre by samkay12(m): 9:52am On Mar 12, 2021
Godarz:

Well

1.We are using fuel for running business and pumping water, etc. because since we privatised power in 2013....we have been paying power prices between N20-30 PER Kwh while power actually costs N53 per kwh to produce.

Government pays the power sector a subsidy, partally from government purse, partially from loans and grants to make things better

As a result, the power sector has been running at a loss.

Thus, we use fuel to pump water, power our business, etc...because we have refused as a nation to pay the actual price for power.

Even the recent increases means that power companes now lose N2 per kwh produced.

2.And he is right...the perosn you quoted. Ghana even pays a minnimum wage around the same as Nigeria.

Please extend your analysis to the other countries on the list. Don't stop at Ghana

I don't mean to be rude but your post is so stupid and ignorant. Probably representative of yourself.

Did you also consider the minimum wage in those countries
Do you realise we use fuel for everything not just cars.
In Nigeria you need fuel to run a business. To pump water in your house. To watch TV. Things you wouldn't need fuel for in the countries you listed.

Some people don't think before spewing rubbish. Then again maybe they don't have a functioning brain.

Basher8583:

Below are the respective prices of fuel per liter in the various countries:
1. Germany - N700.23
2. UK - N706.11
3. US - N331.45
4. France - N735.42
5. Ghana - N384.58
6. Benin Republic - N347.32
7. South Africa - N437.45
8. Kenya - N439.99
9. Hong Kong - N998.17

With what I am seeing in your statement it's like you ticked the invest with principal/capital with interest option. Meaning your your upfront was reinvested with your capital. NTB is done in excess of N1000 so any amount that is not up to N1000 would not be invested that is why they dropped that N915 interest in your account if not you would not have seen any interest. For more understanding go and collect your certificate/proof of investment from your bank tomorrow. If you are not clear with it then we'll discuss further.
I hope this helps....

What do you think the rate for next week's Pry Market will be (6months and 1year)
It dropped from 17.7% to 17% last auction.
Maybe dropping to 16.5? or 16?

Did anyone bid successfully through Standard Chartered Bank?
And have you been debited yet?
Please let me know
Investment / Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by samkay12(m): 8:37am On Jan 20, 2017
Very good question; given the much smaller rates you get in Europe.
To be honest it is a lottery.
You could do this and the exchange rates will be even worse when your TB matures.
For instance someone who had done what you wanted to do a year ago would have lost a lt of money.

Say £ is 590 and you invest £1000 = NGN590,000 x 18.5% (1 year TB)
If the £ goes up to 690 then it has been a waste of your time
If it goes over 700 then you would have lost money

If you feel the exchange rates will be much much better when your tenor elapses then yes; Otherwise don't do it.

Also consider the fact that you may have to go to Black Market to get your forex (or your money getting stuck in Nigeria due to scarcity);
So you really are depending on things getting much better for this to make any sense to do.

Thats My 50kobo

@Feelamong and everyone

Thank you for your contribution to this thread. Please do you reckon it would be wise to invest from Europe? That is, converting to naira, buying Treasury Bills and then converting back when the funds are returned by the bank?

Your thoughts will be highly appreciated.

Any one here bid with Stanbic Bank this week?

I'm not sure i understand why this good news.
Doesn't their rate of 18.10 being lower than 18.2 mean "bad news" for you?
Or do those figures only refer to people who went with the Bank rates and you have ended up with 0.1% more
Right?

munezo:
This is good news. I placed my bid through them but I went with 18.2 for 364 days

Investment / Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by samkay12(m): 7:56am On Aug 11, 2016
@Chidieberelex
I think people said last week was oversubscribed and some even had their monies returned (or not debitted) even when they went with a rate that was below the successful rates.
In this situation it's expected to not offer rates as high as the previous auction; It's only logical im afraid.
I too hope it stays at 18% for an auction or 2 more. Can live with 17% but certainly not a drastic drop to something silly like 13% pa

@kristien4
Logically it should be possible but this is VERY unlikely. Usually the funds should be in your account 2 days before the auction but some bank officials may let you get away with 1 day. If your previous investment matures on the same day you will have missed the deadline. Even worse if it matures the day after.
Unless your application is processed by someone who doesn't bother to check
Theoretically you are still supposed to be able to get away with it but it's very unlikely. And mentioning the situation to the account officer will get you an immediate refusal. Best bet is to apply and hope for the best but don't be too optimistic.

The rate is 10% per annum not 10% per 91days
So pro-rate that 10%

Dannylng:
Please correct me if I'm wrong

If you buy tb of 10 Million for 91 days @ 10%.

At the end of the tenure you will have 1million gain.

Now you have 11million excluding fees

Now let's say you buy another 91 days with your 11 Million ( 10 + 1).

At the end of the 91 days you will have 1.1 million gain

Now you have 12.1 million in approximately 182 days.

But if you decided to invest that your initial 10 million for 182 at say 18%

You will have 1.8 million at the end of 182 days as gain

Meaning you will have 11.8 million as you total cash in the 182 days tenure.

Conclusion

You get 12.1 million for investing in two consecutive 91 days (182) tenure at 10% interest rate

And you get 11.8 million for investing in 182 days tenure at interest rate of 18%

My question is this; is it not best to be investing in 91 days tenure than 182 days and more.

Please correct me if I'm wrong with my calculations

Must I "sacrificially sacrifice" the sacrifice?

What if i want to "humbly sacrifice"?
Or "boldly sacrifice"?
Or "joyfully sacrifice"?

Why must my mood of sacrifice be specific

Mikel is holding MF/Playmaker

If everybody is hiding instead of coming deep to get the ball who will he pass to??
He can't dribble everybody and score man

The attackers are too far, which is making it difficult for the midfielders to get to them. If their deeper, we can reach the strikers with short passes, the attackers combine with the Wingers and each other to unlock the defense.

True
Hence my suggestion for Mikel to lump it.
They are clearly not interested in dropping deep to get the ball
Sports / Re: Nigeria Vs Egypt AFCON Qualifier: 1 - 1 On 25th March 2016 by samkay12(m): 5:54pm On Mar 25, 2016
Disappointing half.
The Wingers are doing absolutely nothing
Only Ihenacho and Odion look lively.

if the MF are not ready to step up and show sme quality on the ball then Mikel should bypass them altogether and lump the ball into the box and hope for knockdowns.
No need to deceive ourslves with aimless passing. Giving the ball to Musa seems to be a waste of time as it looks like he left his football brain in the hotel.
No meaningful attacks from the right like we have forgotten that part of the pitch exists.

Changes needed if we don't get a fluke goal

People blaming Mikel
Mikel is playing okay but who will he pass to??

Everyone is just moping instead of dropping into a space or making runs off their marker..

Counter attack goal very soon
All our MF have been shit
Sports / Re: Nigeria Vs Egypt AFCON Qualifier: 1 - 1 On 25th March 2016 by samkay12(m): 5:40pm On Mar 25, 2016
Midfield is too too static
Everyone is standing in a spot waiting for the ball to miraculously get to them.
The need to move around and create space for themselves to receive a pass.

Only Ighalo seems to be moving a bit.
Our LMF is just clueless. Final ball lacking

Quality of our approach play is so so very poor.
Between the defenders and the MF (Mikel) is okay but after that it's crap.

Nothing happening in the final third and there is no service to Ighalo; He's living off scraps.
Musa and Ihenacho need to drop deeper a bit to receive the ball; pass and then move forward if not we will conceed on the counter very soon
