Hi,

When is it cheaper to get insurance quote, long before current one expires or close to when it expires?
Most insurance quotes can only be about 30days before your existing one expires. So anytime between then and when your existing expires is best.

AY is from northern part of nigeria.....🇳🇬😂

All these children that UK government will not let you discipline. Back then I remember a class mate being brought to Nigeria and “abandoned”. He spent about two years with his uncle, during that period the reforming😉😉 he received.
When he returned to the UK he was a completely changed being.

Hmmm ...abeg how can one avoid stabbing for this youkay? Becos I don't understand again o angry

These stabbings are like the cult battles in Nigeria. Randoms aren’t often the targets. Most of the victims of stabbings are usually connected one way or another to their attackers so if you’re not in their path you’d be mostly ok.

Another Nigeria child, involved in knife crime.......

I don’t think I saw any nationality mentioned in the story though.
In any case, those London ghettos are the worst place to raise a child.

Really? Even on this forum how many times have certain jobs/ sectors been scoffed at? a PSW holder can work anywhere so why are they not plugging the gaps in certain sectors? How many are happy to work in care medium/long term or training to be an electrician or carpenter, when such occupations are looked down on in their home country.

You know that the average Nigerian and Indian wants a high powered job or to own their own business, so the reality is that even if they were given visas to fill these roles, their aim would be to flee to a more befitting occupation the first chance they get, and so the cycle would continue with the government having to print out another 5M visas in 2 years time to plug the shortages - unless they imposed strict measures like banning visa holders from switching to a different sector or they do like the UAE and decouple some employment visas from the settlement route. But they would be labelled fascist if they did that.

This is why the current model isn't working nor is it sustainable.
PSW can work in any sector indeed, but why would they go for PSW in the first instance which is essentially worthless if they aim for ILR in 5yrs? How many of the blue collar jobs are offering sponsorship outside H&C?
After spending £15-20k for an MSc why should the new entrants not target the “high powered” jobs? You don’t expect someone who invested so much in their education to just go do something else unless as last resort do you?
In case you’re not aware, SWV holders cannot work outside of their primary field. Knowing Nigerians and the hustling spirit, I know their are many people with white collar jobs who wouldn’t mind doing a second or even third white or blue collar job to build themselves up, but the same government made that a very complicated process.
No one is doing the other a favour in this country, if the government wants to fill more blue collar or low skilled occupations, they can come down their high horse and recruit low skilled people to come in and do the jobs. We have an abundance of people in Naija and other parts of Africa. If they only want to attract the best and brightest don’t expect they’d come in and be in servitude to you for eternity, everyone follows the money.

Is the dyson tower fan worth it https://www.dyson.co.uk/air-treatment/purifiers/cool-auto-react/white-nickel ? Any advice on how to survive this heat, please?

Does it have to be that expensive? Challenge brands on Argos seems to be quite good for the price

Hi guys,

Is it normal for an employer to make someone work 21 days straight and giving you one day to rest ?

In the contract it states 40 hours for the said person. But the employer is the one saying you'll be able to get off day at least after two weeks.

How can someone navigate around this ?

Read through.

Am happy you are doing fine. All the same It's alright and OK to earn minimum wage, don't give people high blood pressure, if we all become dev ops and IT experts, who would teach your kids or take care of you when you are sick, it's OK to be a middle income earner, as long as you can provide for yourself and family, this same mentality is why Nigeria has refused to develop everybody wants to earn the highest hence lots of corruption in the land. Be OK and contented with what you've got, millions have less.

You don dey twist the matter. What you said was implying that OP was lying. Nobody is saying don't be content with whatever you earn.

And it's not just family housing under pressure. It's nursery and school places which might be free to attend, but cost the gov thousands per child, NHS waiting lists etc - that's what causes alarm for a small country with inadequate resources/ planning to cater for the large increase in migration.

UK govt cannot have their cake and eat it. Students coming in pay fees, they pay IHS, they have no recourse to public funds. They inject so much hard cash into the system at once. What is the government and their systems doing with all that funds?
All that money should have been invested into improving all these services you talked about. Nothing like that was done, so you can't blame legal immigrants for the problems.
Let them change the rules like they did pre-PBS, Nigerians will switch to other locations, the UK will still be worse off at the end of the day.

Good morning elders

Please for IMMIGRATION HEALTH SURCHARGE (IHS), how long does it take to get the payment after this email please? Does it mean I have to wait another 6 weeks from the date of this email or the existing 6 weeks counting from application date

Hi Xxxx Xxxxx,

You’ve successfully made a claim for your immigration health surcharge (IHS) reimbursement.

Your application reference number is BS……..

What happens next:

You’ll:
• check payment has been made after 6 weeks
• possibly need to reapply in 6 months

Kind regards,
IHS Reimbursement Team

I initially made the application via the gov.uk website 6th April. I received a mail April 24th requesting me to reattach my documents as they couldn’t open the initial attachment. I replied to the email on the 25th of April and I never heard from them afterwards till I sent a mail this morning and I received the response above

There’s no pattern to this email. I applied in December and waited till February, no response. I then applied again and for another month or so I got no response. Then sometime in April, I got a double refund😅. Sometime last week I’ve gotten this email again.
I’d say just give it time.

Brethren, please advise.
I applied for IHS refund and for 4 months I got no response and so I applied again thinking there was an issue with the last application. Now they’ve refunded me twice in a period of a few days. They’ve not refunded all the funds back though, but I’m now ahead of the next 6month refund period. What can I do in this situation?
