Former American president Jimmy Carter, has thrown his weight behind the recent approval of same sex marriage throughout the federation.

When he was asked by Huffington Post’s Marc Lamont Hill whether he believes Jesus would approve of gay marriage, the 39th president of the United States of America answered in the affirmative.

He said: “I believe Jesus would. I don’t have any verse in scripture. … I believe Jesus would approve gay marriage, but that’s just my own personal belief. I think Jesus would encourage any love affair if it was honest and sincere and was not damaging to anyone else, and I don’t see that gay marriage damages anyone else.”

Pastor Wole Oladiyun of the Christ Living Apostolic Ministries (CLAM) has asked that Majek Fashek to be brought to him for deliverance.

Nollywood Actor and school proprietor, Emeka Ike has been thrown out of his rented apartment in Magodo GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, over his inability to pay an accumulated three years rent of N8.5 million.
The apartment, a twin duplex located at 1, Raji Oladimeji Street, Magodo GRA, was until his ejection, used by Emeka to run his business.

Emeka had in 2007 diversified by establishing a secondary school named St Nicholas College and decided to hire the premises on a five-year lease agreement from an 87-year-old retiree, Chief Samuel Agboola Akintan at the rate of N2 million per annum for the first two years and N3 million annually for the remaining three years, bringing the total rent of five years to N13 million.

Sun newspaper reports that Emeka was able to get his landlord accept a deposit of N2 million with a promise to pay the rest later. Trouble, however, started when a year after moving in, the popular Actor began to default and at a point issued a dud cheque of N1.5 million.

To force Emeka to pay his money and eject him from the property, Chief Akintan through his company, Samak Investments Ltd, had to drag the Actor to the Ikja Magistrate court where he was ordered out of the house.

The immediate past governor of Niger state, Muazu Babaginda Aliyu is set to face the heat of the present government over alleged money pilfering.

Addressing newsmen, Ibrahim Dooba, the chief press secretary to Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, said yesterday, July 3, in Minna, that six vehicles allegedly taken away without due diligence of the law by the former governor and his wife Hajiya Jummai Babangida Aliyu, have been recovered at their Abuja home, Leadership reports.

The governor’s spokesperson said the vehicles were two Range Rover Jeeps, two saloons and a Mercedes Benz station wagon, as well as Hilux van recovered from one of his aides.

Hours after the retrieval, Governor Bello initiated what is regarded as a move to probe the former governor.
He set up two committees to look into Aliyu’s finances and infrastructural contracts entered into by him between 2007 and 2015.

The governor set up the two committees at the council chamber of Government House yesterday in Minna, with the chairman of the APC, Engr Mohammed Jibrin Imam, chairing the infrastructural contracts committee and Alhaji Mohammed Nda, chairing the finance committee.

According to Governor Bello, the committee was to look into the infrastructure inherited, the viabilities and the inventory of all the liabilities by connecting with the relevant ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).

He added that the committee will ascertain the financial assets and liabilities of the state and local governments as of May 29, 2015, by verifying “all revenue accruing to the state and local governments from the federation account allocation committee (FAAC), VAT, NNPC, argumentation exchange rate devaluation, ecological fund, excess crude account, Sure-P, MDGs development partner grants and internally generated revenue (IGR) from 2007 to May 2015.”

Prominent groups in the south east and south west of Nigeria have criticised what they all described as the lopsided appointments of President Muhmammadu Buhari so far, which seem to favour the northern parts of the country.


In the south west, the groups that have expressed their worries so far are the Afenifere, Yoruba Unity Forum (YUF) and the Movement for Oodua Republic (MOR), while in the South east the groups that have spoken out so far are Ohaneze Ndigbo, The Igbo World Union, Njiko Igbo Group and the Ohaneze Youth Council (OYC).
They claimed that these kinds of lopsided appointments had never happened in the political history of the country.
The YUF secretary general, Senator Anthony Adefuye, warned that the earlier the situation was reversed, the better, so as not to give the impression that the north is marginalising the south.

He said: “The fact that the President, Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives are from the North is worrisome. There is no way the North can take all the principal offices and leave the deputy to us. It has never happened before and the earlier it is reverted, the better.

“There is no way that can continue because the South is not subordinate to the North. The think tank committee of the YUF will meet soon to look at the issue and see how it affects the Yoruba people. However, the development is a wrong signal that must be corrected.
“What is more worrisome is that the immediate past INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, handed over to a Southerner but the Presidency changed it to a Northerner. We are watching and waiting to see what comes out of this new government.”
“Southerners are always careful and concerned not to marginalise the North. Therefore, I will not expect the North to marginalise the South now that the Presidency is shifted to the region.”
On his own part, the national publicity secretary of Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin, said the group was closely monitoring Buhari’s actions and taking note of them.

He told The Punch: “We have taken a position in Afenifere to watch the President’s actions before we begin to make comments. By the time we have a clearer picture of what is happening in the first 100 days of the President in office, we are certainly going to make a comprehensive statement.”
George Akinola, leader of MOR, warned that
Nigeria is heading towards total conflict should the situation continue.
According to him: “The country has already been divided along religious lines. The fault lines are there and will always be there. This will continue until a time when one way or the other a conference or a referendum happens. There is no option that is not on the table but at least we will prefer the path of peace.”
Meanwhile, the president general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Gary Enwo-Igariwey, advised Buhari to respect the principle of federal character when making appointments.
He said, “We expect the President to recognise other nationalities that make up Nigeria. Elections are over, it is time for governance. We expect that the principle of federal character, which is constitutional, should be respected.
“It is important that in making his appointments, the President should recognise that there are six geo-political zones in the country and it is imperative that he carries all of them along in the spirit of nation building and as a statesman.”
The Igbo World Union and the Ohanaeze Youth Council described the president’s actions as a threat to the corporate existence of Nigeria.

The OYC national president, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, said: “Buhari should not abuse his privileged position as the President of Nigeria for the moment. He should not forget our federal system but reflect the federal character in his appointments.
“We are warning him to drop the Northern agenda and govern Nigeria in line with the constitution which he sworn to protect. We will hold him by his statement that ‘he is for nobody and for everybody ‘ except he now wants to tell us that he is the President of the North alone.”
He continued:“Jonathan appointed Northerners as his National Security Adviser, Defence Minister, Inspector-General of Police, Chief of Defence Staff etc. But so far, Buhari has shown us that he has no regard for other parts of the country.”
In the same vein, the president general of Igbo World Union, Dr. Mishak Nnanta, advised Buhari not to give in to any ill-advice from individuals with parochial interests.
On his part, the national president of the Njiko Igbo Forum, Reverend Okechukwu Obioha, warned the president against running what he described as a “Northern government.”
He said, “Buhari is simply running a Northern government. He is making his appointments as if he is angry with other sections of the country. The appointments are lopsided in favour of the North and that is not acceptable.”


President Buhari has so far appointed nine individuals into different positions since assuming office. Eight of the nine appointees are from the northern part of the country.

Yesterday’s meeting of the National Executive Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have come and gone with the major highlights being President Muhammadu Buhari’s subtle warning to party members instructing them to respect the superiority of the party at all times.


The meeting, which was shunned by the former governor of Lagos state, Bola Tinubu, and the party’s former interim chairman, Bisi Akande, was also an opportunity for the party’s NEC to pass a vote of confidence on the APC chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, who has been under fire from some party elders who have been calling for his resignation.
Read the president’s speech below:

“The elections have come and gone, the APC has won the battle, but lost the war. This is the paradox of democracy, and we shall see how we can manage it going forward.
I have already addressed you through the chairman, through the leadership of the party, through your excellencies, the governors and through our Senators and House of Representatives members.

The APC must not disappoint its constituency, that’s the nation state. We have to convince our various constituencies that we are individually worthy of the sacrifices that they have made.
They stayed awake day and night, travelling all over the country and made sure as a party, we emerged victorious. What subsequently happened is human, and as human beings we are not perfect, but let our collective actions in this party prove that we have won the elections, the battle and we will win the war.

As for me as a president, I have to clearly understand the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria, the constitution of APC, and having tried three times and successfully lost three times and successfully ending up at the Supreme Court, I think I have tasted the bitter disappointments and the sweetness of success.
What happened to APC must be given to God almighty. The opposition party, has ruled the country for sixteen years, with all the treasuries, literally in their pockets and all the coercing forces and their command, under their command they still meekly conceded defeat. We congratulate them for that.
I clearly understand the constitution from which INEC was developed with clear terms of reference and one of its important responsibilities is to register political associations as political parties, and whoever wants to participate in elective office as a Nigerian must seek a platform. That platform is the political party, hence, the superior state of the parties. APC has been damn lucky, if I can use that.
The way the opposition parties realized, agreed and accepted that the only way through which we can be in the system is for us to come together. The ACN,the ANPP, the CPC, AGA and DPP wanted to come to participate fully in the negotiation, but they have court cases at various levels, and we suspected that if we allow them to participate actively in the negotiation for merger, their being in court can cause either delay or deny us registration.
So we persuaded our colleagues in APGA and DPP that please stay out of the negotiation, but when we eventually get the registration, they can join in block or individually.

Along the line, I assure you that nothing is done by impulse in our process to merger. There have been various committees, quite a number of you sitting here have been members of committees either leading them or being a member and we agreed. At some stage or the earlier stages,we agreed that nine people should form the interim committee, that’s the national chairmen of the parties, the secretaries and the treasurers . We thought we have done a wonderful work, so we sent our application.
For the first time in this sixteen or twelve years of my participating actively , I thanked INEC for what they did to us; they sent back our application and said we must have 25 to 35 people to manage your interim if you get registration, and they must come from all the geo political zones. Why I thanked INEC in particular was because if it has been bloody minded, again ladies close your ears, if they have been bloody minded, they would have kept on raging until it was almost too late for us to get the merger.

So they advised us and we sat down, we got I think 35 people to manage us and they are here personally, and on behalf of you now congratulate Chief Bisi Akande, it’s a pity he is not here, he led the interim party with dexterity and integrity. I respect his patriotism. When we got the APC name through the agreement of various committees of the respective parties, we started working from polling unit upwards, eventually we ended up in the convention which gave us the leadership of the party.
After that the election started, and again it started from the bottom top. I have gone to this extent because not all of us here participated in it and for you to reflect and thank the leadership of the party at various stages for going through all this, which is not easy. But God in his infinite mercy has helped by giving us acceptance. Let us not throw this success to the wind.
Let us as members of the APC no matter our personal differences get together and use the mandate given to us by this country. This is my personal appeal to you in the name of God. Whatever your personal interest or ambition, please keep it close to your heart and in your pocket. Let APC work, let the system work and let us have a government that will earn the respect of our constituencies.

My problem is the constituencies. I thank you very much for listening to me, and I thank the leadership across the board, and I appeal to you to please continue to work together.
Please accept the superiority of the party. I cannot confine myself to the cage or Sambisa forest and refuse to participate in NEC or BoT so I respect the superiority of the party.”

Meanwhile, there is speculation that the crisis in the APC might result in some party chieftains defecting to the Peoples Democratic Party.

Nigerian hitmakers, Wizkid, D’Prince, Timaya and Sean Tizzle have not had their MTN endorsement deals extended.
The Nigeria’s telecom firm, MTN, has explained why they won’t be renewing the contract some of its ambassadors.
In a statement signed by MTN’s General Manager, Consumer Marketing, Richard Iweanoge confirmed that the stars won’t be ambassadors of the telecom this year.
‘Although there is a finite number of brand ambassadors we can have at any point in time, Nigerian artistes can continue to monetise their intellectual works through our distribution channels such as the Caller Tunez and Music Plus platforms,’ the statement states.
The statement reads further: ‘As was originally conceptualised, the ambassador ship will continually evolve to accommodate new talents and cater for diverse segments. This year, we are using a segmented approach and there will be ambassadors for each segment of our market. Using this criteria, new artistes like Cobhams Asuquo will be coming on board the MTN Ambassadorial family.’

In May 2015, stars including Davido, Don Jazzy, Tiwa Savage, Dr. Sid, Sound Sultan, Iyanya, Chidinma, Banky W, KCee as well as Saka, Osuofia, Mama Geeand others all renewed their contracts with MTN.

“Unbeknown at the time it appears that I captured a ghost figure in the corridors.

“I have since put this picture on Facebook, it has received thousands of likes and comments and has been shared as far as America.

Andrew, who has recently returned to work after a career break, says the room the ghostly figure appears to be walking into is where the switchboard works.
He said a number of colleagues at the hospital have heard footsteps at the spot when no-one is there.
“There have been a few odd things,” he said. “Now people are a bit scared, and apprehensive about going to the loo.”

‘Mr Oreo’ crooner, Iyanya has said his next album will be a combination of hip hop, R&B, Reggae and other genres of music.

In a recent interview with YES magazine, the singer said: ‘I have great plans and I’m really working hard towards them. I have a studio in my house and I have been doing a lot of recordings. The album is going to be a combination of hip hop, R&B, Reggae etc.’

The forthcoming album is Iyanya’s 3rd album following previous releases such as My Story, his debut album released in 2011 and his second album, Desire which followed in 2013. Singles such as ‘Gift’, which features Don Jazzy and a few new songs are expected to be in the new album.

In a recent interview with Vanguard, Yoruba actor, Saheed Balogun told the newspaper that former president of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan treated entertainers like school children. And that piracy has destroyed the movie industry.

Balogun said “There was a time I produced a movie, and it was pirated within days. It’s like the pirates have their own copies.
“We’re still looking to find who leaked it, but we don’t know yet. I lost over N15 million on that project. I’m still motivated to do more because it’s my dream. Soon, change will come to this country. Goodluck Jonathan treated entertainers like school-children. The last government was hosting us (Nollywood) as if they were hosting birthday parties for kids.”
“For one day, they never thought it fit to beg senators and members of the House of Representatives to pass appropriate laws on piracy”.

“I am seizing this opportunity to beg the new senators and House members who are in the committee in charge of culture to please pass relevant bills on entertainment. That is what they are elected to do, not to be shouting and jumping fence like they did the last time.”

When asked about why he refused to support a political candidate publicly, he said “I did, but I refused to follow any senator or House of Representatives members who want to go for re-election, and I did not encourage my colleagues to follow them as well. It is not a case of giving them another chance of four years, because I said the same thing four years ago, and they didn’t listen. I supported Governor Ajimobi of my home state, Oyo, because he transformed the state.”

Davido has postponed the release of his second studio album.
According to Entertainment Today (Net), Davido will no longer be dropping his highly anticipated sophomore album on June 8th.

Davido who earlier planned to release the album a day after his graduation from Babcock university requires some more time to put everything in place to make the album a success.
A rep close to the 22 year old superstar said “Davido actually needs a little more time to wrap things up on this end, you know he just returned to the country. The team is sorting out getting the numbers right so the release date had to be postponed.”


Davido recently returned to Nigerian on Sunday, May 31, 2015 after spending over 3 weeks in the US recording songs with international artistes and shooting videos for songs that will soon be released on the album.

Today 1st of June is Independence day here in Kenya and I am staring out into the most amazing view of trees and greenery thinking how so beautiful this place is.
Take a trip Mr President, to Kenya. See bah, you don’t even have to go too far guy, only Kenya, our next day neighbour fa.

It is heaven here guy!! Not entirely though, because the people have troubles of their own too. They have security issues just as much as every other country does, they have corruption in high places too. But they are the most happy people I have ever being around. The place is soooooooo beautiful and life here feels like what life should be in Nigeria if we could just put in a little effort.
3 things I brought home with me from Nairobi?
1. They Love genuinely!
The Kenyans just love. They care about one and another and they do things, not just because there is something in it for them but because they believe when they do for one, they do for self.
Love.

This is what the Universe operates on. Can you inspire and instil the value of one love in the hearts of the Nigerian people?
2. They enjoy 24 hours electricity supply. Everywhere. If the power has to go off, the people are notified. You know what this does? You know what this means? This means that businesses work without the extra hustle that lack of power brings! And if businesses are working the people are successful. If the people are successful, the country is successful.
If you do not do anything at all, please give the Nigerian people constant power supply. I say this on behalf of every Nigerian. We all know how this can improve every sector of the Nigerian economy so I would not make this letter longer than should be by stating the obvious.
3. If you cannot do No.1 and No.2 I sincerely doubt you would be able to do anything at all. So lets keep it at 1 and 2 and when you have accomplished those, I’d write you yet another letter to tell you the third most important thing I got from Kenya.
Now I really like you guy. Prior to becoming the President, congratulations again, I heard a lot of things about you. Bad things. And some good. You know how people are, people talk, and boy was there much talk on your matter! I didn’t make any judgement of you however. I don’t roll like that. I have decided to make my own personal assessment of you myself based on what I experience during your time.

So far I think I like you. You are the kind of guy I could have my morning coffee with. With Mr Jega of course. I like that guy. Don’t lose him.
I was also thinking it would be a really cool thing to work for you. Like I said, I like you.
I could be your special adviser on youth affairs and extra-curricular activities. With my position and influence in Entertainment and Music, I am quite confident that creating a direct communication pathway between your government and the Nigerian youth would be an easy feat for me. Although I charge by the hour, I promise not to go overboard with my billing. Think about this.
Please note however, there are a lot of issues you have to deal with in Nigeria don’t get me wrong. Power is just one of them. There are issues with Education, Transportation, Corruption, Health services, Energy, Security…the list is endless and I’d hate to scatter your head just yet. You sef sabi this thing.

Timaya told Punch that he wanted more than what he was offered by the telco company.
According to Timaya, “I have always wanted to become an ambassador to a telecommunications company and I was approached by both Globacom and MTN. I chose MTN. I am a businessman and I feel I should have a better deal this year.”
Timaya also said “If the deal is not good enough for me, then it is not right because I worked very hard to get to the stage I am. It could be right for other people but I think I should do better this year. There are some artistes that are brand ambassadors and they do not have any hit song. They are just there based on pity.

“Every year, I release a hit song and I feel if we are to renew a contract, we have to revisit the terms and conditions. Not that we would do the same thing as the last time or do it out of pity. Being a brand ambassador makes you limited in some certain areas and I expect to be paid for such limitations. I want more. They are good people and we did not have any misunderstanding. It was purely a business decision,”

Phileas Le cléateur has the key to love. Actually, he owns dozens of them. The Parisian is using his collection of antique skeleton keys to save as many "love locks" as possible from the famed Pont des Arts bridge, which bears love tokens from hundreds of thousands of couples. But this week, French officials began taking down the bridge's mesh panels, to which the locks have been affixed and have added an extra 45 tons of dangerous weight.

Le cléateur has been using his keys to free as many padlocks as he can, in hopes of reuniting them with their original love-struck owners. He has "rescued" about 400 locks since he began the passion project last November.
"I'm conscious it's a small part relative to the million locks on Pont des Arts," he admitted. "But I spend a lot of time searching the right key for each lock."

Le cléateur, 46, and his wife own a business that makes jewelry out of antique keys, many of which opened 18th-century jewelry boxes and other vintage items.
"My concept is to offer the key to happiness, the key to love, the key to success," he said.
The visits did yield success with other vintage padlocks Le cléateur eventually opened with his keys.

He and his wife are now preparing to post pictures of the locks that have been saved on Instagram and other social media sites to help reunite them with their rightful owner. All they need is photographic proof of ownership, and Le cléateur will send it back. His only request is that the couple pay for shipping.

He said: "I don't want that it disappears (to) I don't know where," Le cléateur said of each of the locks. "I want to give it back to the lovers."

According to reports, Forbes Millionaire, Bhanwarlal Doshi, 58, who is said to be worth over $600m has given away all his fortune.
Doshi who owns a plastic company has converted into the famous Jain monk’s life. He converted on Sunday, May 31, 2015 and became one of the disciples of Jain Acharya, Shri Gunratna Surishwarji Maharaj.
To start his monk life, a party was thrown for him, over 1500 people attended the party.
After the ceremony, Doshi is expected to live in abject poverty with no maids or money or any physical possession.
Reports have it that Doshi had always wanted to become a monk after he listened to Jain’s lectures in 1981, but it took him time to convince his family.

Brothers, 13-year-old Osine Ikhianosime and 15-year-old Anesi Ikhianosime have stamped their mark on the Nigerian web designing map after they co-developed a mobile web browser.
Osine and Anesi, both students atGreensprings School, Anthony Campus, Lagos, jointly designed the code for their browser named ‘Crocodile Browser Lite’ but the eldest, Anesi, designs the user interface (UI).
The app was first launched on the Mobangoapp store before moving to Google Play Storeas ‘Crocodile Browser Lite by BluDoors'.
It presently has gotten over 1000 downloads and an impressive 4.6 rating out of a possible 5.
A user, Emele Emele, praised the speed of the app but wanted a better UI.
"Love the browser. Simple, fast and trouble free," Emele wrote.
"The UI needs some improvement, to make [it] more attractive
Another user, Dickxon Khay wrote:
"You guys blew my mind away. I just downloaded the app for the love of it but now I am stuck with it. It is far better and faster than the rest."
In a pitch mail to TechCabal, Osine said they designed the app because they "were fed up with Google Chrome"
He revealed that he stated that his interest in computers started at age seven while his brother was nine.
‘’When we decided to learn to code at age 12 and 14 respectively, I didn’t let my uncle’s belief that it would be a tough feat to achieve deter me," he said.
“I learnt to code by myself. I started in 2013, I used sites like Code Academy, Code Avengers and books like ‘Android for Game Development’ and ‘Games for Dummies,” Anesi added.
Their mother, a Mathematics teacher, said her kids started early with computers.
“Osine could already use a PC before he could read at age three. It is all he does since he learnt to code," she said.
Her dreams for her children are big, with her sights already set on to MIT Anesi's first degree.
