What makes honey thick?
Lots of people think that thickness alone can be used to determine if honey is original or not, but the truth is that a number of factors determine the thickness (viscosity or flow rate) of honey.
It's the floral sources, the nectar, the weather, and the temperature of the honey that determines the thickness.
A pure honey have about 18% the viscosity of water, so its thick but this is not a good indicator for its originality because fake honey can also be adulterated to have that same viscosity.
Honey left in a hot car in a container will flow faster than that same honey stored in an air-conditioned kitchen. So don't use thickness alone to determine whether a honey is original or not.

Pure honey has a moisture content of less than 20%, if ants try to eat the sticky pure honey, ants will be stuck. But as honey tends to absorb moisture from the air making the outer layer of the pure honey to be diluted, then ants will be attracted to the pure honey eventually.
So the next time you hear of someone saying that pure honey does not attract ants kindly correct them.
