I am worried about the business a man can start with #1M to augment salary in this tinubu economy.
Salary earners (in both government and private establishment) will understand how difficult it is to cope with the present economic situation of this country as they're not permitted to increase the cost of their services at will unlike business owners who are quick to tell you the present value of $ to justify their action.
As a salary earners working between 8-5 daily, what business (aside whatever online) can you advise such individual to invest in as side hustle to augment income if the person can access funds up to #1M? Kindly note that this advice should exclude forex, cryptocurrency, e.t.c

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: I Just Secured My First Tech Job. I'm So Happy. by Samzeal(m): 3:00pm On Feb 08
[quote author=chinasaekpere post=128226580]I graduated from the University 12 years ago. Since then I have been jumping from one job to another with no progress in sight. I discovered that I have been stagnant for Years, so I decided to learn a skill.

I started by learning how to make footwear, I learnt that for a year but I later discovered that it's not what I want to do, although I can make every type of footwear even boots.
Last year I took an online course in frontend web development, for 6 months I studied for an average of more than10 hours daily learning from HTML and now React.js. I learnt figma, scss, CSS, Version control, jquery, bootstrap, Chakra UI and react.js, it was a tough one because I had to forfeit other means of making money. I got hungry so many times, I used my last card to buy data so I can keep studying and doing my projects.

Earlier this month, I finished by portfolio project, I had already worked on 4 projects using react, Jquery, Chakra UI and bootstrap. I designed coupled of web pages using figma.

Earlier this month, my girlfriend who's a data analyst sent me a link for a front-end developer role. In my mind, I didn't feel like I was ripe enough so I didn't apply. 2 days later, I decided to give it a try and so I applied. I was called to come for interview this Monday.

On getting there, the company was working on this revenue web app project they are doing to for a particular state government. I was asked to develop the UI of one of the pages using react, CSS and Tailwind. I have heard of Tailwind before but I have never used it.
I told the interviewer that I have never used tailwind and that I'm proficient using bootstrap. He replied that I should go through tailwind documentation and then use it to style the page on top of react.

So I started reading the documentation, I discovered that it's syntax is somehow similar to Chakra UI which I have used once in my project, the are the same concept of class utility. So I decided to start coding, getting snippets from the documentation and then applying my Chakra UI knowledge to work around it.

To cut the long story short, I coded from 9am in the morning and delivered the page by 5pm.

I was sent an appointment letter today. So my tech journey officially started. It's a junior role though but I'm glad I broke the ice.

The salary is what I have never earned in a month since I was born. 😊

congratulations brother

Python
MySQL
R
Power BI, and
Tableau.

I paid for Mosh online courses on MySQL and Python. I want to have a good grasp of all these courses first, before going into their application in data science. I don't just want to jump into the data science application without having a good grasp and background understanding of what and what each of the programmes are used for or can be used for.

Other ones I am watching free YouTube videos and reading free books on Amazon Kindle. I don't know if that can work in Nigeria, I'd encourage you guys to check it out. There are a handful of books there.

Thank you I really need a book on data science. And if you can share some materials on python that can help it would be appreciated.

wink wink wink smiley

There's no much to it bro. Just get a HDMI or VGA cable and connect your monitor to the laptop, and do some settings in the views settings. There are lots of YouTube videos to help.

The machine is an Asus Vivobook S15, with a touchscreen trackpad. I think Asus is the first to have that on their Machine. You can check the review on YouTube.

Having a second screen makes studying easy for you. You open your YouTube video on one screen and follow the examples, hands-on, on the other machine. You may also open your text book same way.

There's no issue of data here. I have 20GB on my mobile plan, same as my wife, for 200CAD every month, including two iPhone XR; and an unlimited data for the home plan, which comes with my rent. Home internet is like having electrical power in the apartment. It comes with your rent.

Which programme are you learning now. Is it python?

Start with excel then learn python and it's libraries (numpy, pandas, matplotlib), thereafter learn SQL and move over to powerBI for data visualization.

To what extent can someone say he/she as learnt excel well because have been learning excel for a well now but I don't know if I have done justice to it well
