Politics / Re: So Much For A Minority Advocate, E.K. Clark Should Leave Ologe Elijah Alone by SancoOvie1: 8:18pm On Aug 10, 2014 |
If minority Urhobo cannot be chairman in Patani LGA , then EK clack should stop advocating for an Ijaw man to be chairman in Warri South West and Warri North where the Itsekiris are clearly majority. This attack on Comrade Ologe Elija will have a greater consequence on minorities in Delta State. By this verdict EK Clack is indirectly saying that an Ijaw man or any other minority in Delta state cannot become the governor in the state because Urhobos have the population to monopolize the governorship . This is a clarion call on President Goodluck Jonathan to intervene before it gets out of hand. How can some body who is an indigene of Patani win the primary election and an Elder Statesman allegedly gave an order to remove him because he is not an Ijaw man. This is an aberration of the highest order. |

Politics / Glasgow 2014: Uduaghan Inspires Okagbare To 100m Gold by SancoOvie1: 10:46am On Jul 29, 2014 |
GLASGOW 2014: UDUAGHAN INSPIRES OKAGBARE TO 100M GOLD Nigeria and Delta State born Sprinter Blessing Okagbare has won the 100meters Gold in the ongoing Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth games. Blessing Okagbare became the commonwealth games women 100 meters champion with a new game record of 10.85 secs with Jamaica's Veronica Campbell-Brown and Kerron Stewart taking silver and bronze respectively, while England's Asha Phillip was fourth in a new personal best time of 11.18. Okagbare went on a lap of honour after the race with Nigeria's flag amid cheers from the enthusiastic crowd. An elated Okagbare, after her heroics told BBC Sport: "I am so excited right now! A new season's best and win. I'm happy I was able to put on a show. I executed it and stayed patient like my coach said I should and after 70 metres it just felt easy! I still have the 200m and the long jump and I'm looking forward to both of those events now". “It feels great to get this far and win. I’m grateful to God. I thank all those behind this success especially our Governor who is here to support us morally after his financial support,” Blessing said. The ever sports loving Governor of Delta State Dr Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan who incidentally was at the stadium to cheer Okagbare and Team Nigeria up said "It was a great feeling today being at the stadium in Glasgow and watching our own Blessing Okagbare winning the 100m in grand style in the presence of over 80,000 people from all over the world". “It was a deserved victory. She has made Nigeria proud and we are happy about this sweet victory,” Uduaghan said. Governor Uduaghan who has set the pace with world class facilities in his state, the latest being the World Class Gym he built for Weightlifting reaped the fruits of the gym when almost all the Weightlifting athletes who lifted Nigeria with gold medals came from Delta. ‘’The important thing is that they are serving Nigeria. And I’m happy that they are from my state and all efforts in building these facilities are not in vain”, the amiable Governor said at the Clyde Auditorium where he came to felicitate with Delta Athletes. The athletes jumped for joy on citing the unassuming Governor who interacted with them and promised to reward them at the end of the Commonwealth Games. ‘’In Delta, we appreciate and reward all our athletes who bring honour to the state.” You can see the marvelous job they are doing for Nigeria and Delta. It is in our character to welcome them home as heroes and heroines”, the Governor said as the athletes burst into loud celebration. The Governor’s presence enlivened Team Nigeria as he went round to add his support to many Nigerian athletes who were on duty. Thereafter, the Governor was presented with a Celtic jersey by Efe Ambrose who plies his trade with Celtic FC of Scotland. Efe is a household name in Scotland and he said that he was honoured presenting his jersey to a Governor who has done well for humanity and for all Deltans. After the World Championship in Russia last year, Uduaghan approved special training grants for Okagbare. Blessing was so emotional that she shed tears and promised Uduaghan that she would deliver a world title in his honour. She did so yesterday.

Politics / Re: President, Governors Should Have Minimum Of University Degree - CONFAB by SancoOvie1: 2:32pm On Jul 26, 2014 |
Permit me to say that Nigeria's problem goes beyond making a degree holder or a professor the president or governor. The problem with Nigeria is a foundational problem. Nigeria is structurally defective. Even if an Obama is made the president of Nigeria it will not stop the tension in this country. Those who amalgamated the country created artificial imbalance between the north and south which has continued to generate reactions. Until this balance is restored by destroying that foundation and rebuilding it, there will be a continuous reaction. This is my little contribution as an HND holder. 1 Like |

It is even more embarrassing to note that the man who propounded 'my oga at the top' theory is a degree holder. It should be clearly stated that the person should have either a university degree or HND because most specialized institutions like NDA,PTI ETC award HND and these people are far better than university degree holders in their area of specialization. 1 Like |

They should not hide their short sightedness under university degree, HND holders are doing better than university graduates in my office in all ramifications. I would rather suggest an aptitude test for both degree holders and those with other qualifications. This is because we have seen degree holders who cannot write a letter or memo to their directors without the help of their HND counterpart. 1 Like |

It was a Greek philosopher who once said that where there is love, there is the willingness to make sacrifice. What can best describe the relentless effort of His Excellency, the Comrade Governor of Delta State other than hard work, love for his people and his Awoist ideology of putting the interest of the people first above any other consideration and personal comfort? Delta State; a multi-ethnic and core Niger Delta state whose people have been marginalized for decades, a very volatile state which has the potential to erupt in flame at any time as a result of the brutalized psyche of the people by successive military administration, a state that is a complete replica of a mini Nigeria, a state whose ecosystem has been bastardized and subjected to gross imbalance, an environment that is already at the verge of obeying the second law of thermodynamics due to oil pollution. With all its attendant problems, just one man, His Excellency, Comrade Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, the people’s governor and governor general of the masses is at the driver seat piloting the affairs of a multi-ethnic state like Delta and the state is witnessing this kind of unprecedented transformation. Above every other thing, what tickles my fancy the most was how the comrade governor was able to transform all the government primary and secondary schools in the state to international standard within few months. The governor’s unprecedented performance in this regard has created a serious challenge for private school owners who are now struggling seriously to bring the standard of their schools to that of the state government in order for them to remain in business. Another interesting aspect of the up-grade that flabbergasted the private school owners was the introduction of brand new air-conditioned buses to carry pupils to school free of charge. I can authoritatively confirm that most parents have withdrawn their children from private schools in order to benefit from the good work of the comrade governor of Delta State. What else can I say other than to pray for the man whom God has used to transform the state within a very short time? The schools do not need advertisement; they are there for everyone to see including unrepentant critics of this government. GOD BLESS UDUAGHAN

This is unacceptable to Urhobo people. If possible, the certificate should be sent to him wherever he is to sign. He cannot hold the entire Urhobo nation hostage. If there is no senior officer that can sign on his behalf, he should request for the certificate and sign it . |

Why is the north saying no, no to every good thing. Well , it is obvious the north is not ready to move forward. Nigeria will move ahead and leave the north behind just as Lagos is moving and leaving Nigeria behind. The north cannot continue to be a liability to other regions that want to move forward. |

Politics / Uduaghan Commissioned 130 Water Buses For Riverine Transportation In Delta State by SancoOvie1: 3:32am On Oct 03, 2013 |
His Excellency, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan Commissioned 130 Water Buses For Riverine Transportation In Delta State Asaba -02-10-13 by Comrade Sanco Ovie His Excellency, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State today commissioned 130 water buses at the commissioners quarter Asaba. The governor who was flanked by the Hon. Commissioner for transport Hon. Ben Igbakpa who has been adjudged as the best transport commissioner in the history of Delta State and other members of the state executive council stated that the slight delay in the commissioning of the buses was due to the insistence of the National Environmental Standard Regulation Agency(NESRA) that the state must obtain certain environmental permit before such engines are imported in large quantity into the country except there is a special permit from Mr. President. The governor thanked the president for giving the state the special permit needed to import those engines. He underscored the need to have a president from the Niger Delta area who understand the terrain and the need of the people. In his words " Many people don't know the benefit of having a president from our area. I urge all Niger Delta people to support Mr. President because he is from the riverine area like us and he understands our pain" On his part , the commissioner for transport Hon Ben Igbakpan thanked the governor for his support for the transport ministry and urged the beneficiaries of the the boats to make good use of them for the overall benefit of Deltans. He noted that effective transport system is a very important tool in economic development of the state. Some respondents who expressed joy over the unprecedented transformation in the transport sector thanked the governor and the commissioner for connecting their villages to civilization via Delta water buses and the associated low cost of transportation in the riverine areas . Like many economic activities that are intensive in the use of infrastructures, the transport sector is an important component of the economy impacting on development and the welfare of populations. A relation between the quantity and quality of transport infrastructure and the level of economic development is apparent. When transport systems are efficient, they provide economic and social opportunities and benefits that result in positive multipliers effects such as better accessibility to markets, employment and additional investments. When transport systems are deficient in terms of capacity or reliability, they can have an economic cost such as reduced or missed opportunities and lower quality of life. Efficient transportation reduces costs, while inefficient transportation increases costs. The added value and employment effects of transport services usually extend beyond employment and added value generated by that activity. For instance, transportation companies purchase a part of their inputs from local suppliers. The production of these inputs generates additional value-added and employment in the local economy. The suppliers in turn purchase goods and services from other local firms. There are further rounds of local re-spending which generate additional value-added and employment. Similarly, households that receive income from employment in transport activities spend some of their income on local goods and services. These purchases result in additional local jobs and added value. Some of the household income from these additional jobs is in turn spent on local goods and services, thereby creating further jobs and income for local households. As a result of these successive rounds of re-spending in the framework of local purchases, the overall impact on the economy exceeds the initial round of output, income and employment generated by passenger and freight transport activities. Mobility is one of the most fundamental and important characteristics of economic activity as it satisfies the basic need of going from one location to the other, a need shared by passengers, freight and information. All economies and regions do not share the same level of mobility as most are in a different stage in their mobility transition towards motorized forms of transport. Economies that possess greater mobility are often those with better opportunities to develop than those with scarce mobility. Reduced mobility impedes development while greater mobility is a catalyst for development. Mobility is thus a reliable indicator of development. Providing this mobility is an industry that offers services to its customers, employs people and pays wages, invests capital and generates income. The economic importance of the transportation industry can thus be assessed from a macroeconomic and microeconomic perspective. It is important note that farm products from remote locations in the state can be transported easily to urban areas which has a positive effect of reduction in cost of agricultural products in urban areas. It is in the light of the foregoing that the state government invested heavily into the transport sector of the state. To God be the glory, Uduaghan three point agenda is working, God bless the architect of modern Delta State.
