The funeral ceremony of the First civilian governor of Anambra State Dr Chukwuemeka Ezeife took place at the International Conference Centre Awka, and was hosted by the current governor of the state Prof Chukwuma Soludo.

The solemn event was attended by former governors of Anambra State, Peter Obi, Chris Ngige, Virgy Etiaba, as well as a former governor of Enugu State Okwesilieze Nwodo. Also present was President General Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu Ojukwu, Ambassador Godknows Igali, representing the Bayelsa State governor, as well as the former Chief of Army Staff, General Ihejirika, Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof Charles Esimone, and a host of others.

Bianca Ojukwu was the cynosure of all eyes as she stepped into the ICC venue of the 2nd anniversary celebrations of Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo as the governor of the APGA led government of Anambra State.

The former Ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain, who is also a principal member of the Board of Trustees of APGA, and the wife of late Igbo Leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, who was the pioneer National Leader of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) looked radiant in an all pink outfit as she greeted guests at the ceremony.

The event offered the Governor Charles Soludo, an opportunity to present his scorecard to the citizens of the state and to also reel out other areas of achievements which his administration has recorded in the past 24 months.
Earlier in a homily, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Rev Paulinus Ezeokafor, while  reflecting on the 2 years of the governor in office, commended him for finding it worthy to conduct a thanksgiving service to mark the occasion.

The ceremony was also witnessed by dignitaries such as the former secretary general of the commonwealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, Former Governor of Anambra State, Chris Ngige, Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe, Chairman of Chrome Oil, Chief Emeka Offor and others.

The event also marked the 2nd year anniversary of what has been famously dubbed the ‘Valedictory’ or ‘Send Forth’ Slap, which was dished out by Bianca Ojukwu to Ebelechukwu Obiano , wife of the outgoing governor of Anambra state when the latter viciously accosted her at the state event.
Former Governor Obiano and his wife were conspicuously absent at the 2nd Year Anniversary ceremony.

THE DRESS THAT LAUNCHED A THOUSAND SHIPS….

Clothes are extremely powerful tools. They can evoke memories of special moments in our lives. This white and gold full length Wayne Clark inspired ensemble is one of such. This was my showstopping appearance for the official launch event in the USA of the fragrance called ‘CAESAR’S WOMAN’ over three decades ago. This fragrance, created by Caesars Palace/Caesars World, Las Vegas, was designed to evoke the elegance and luxury of life in Ancient Rome.

It was the Eighties, the decade of excess. The launch party for the introduction of this Perfume was lavish and glamorous. the scents were brought into the expansive arena in a chariot led by models clad as Roman gladiators, soldiers and goddesses. To add to the razzmatazz the organizers intended to turn loose 25 doves whose wings were dipped in the fragrance in order to envelop the atmosphere in the luxurious fragrance (which apparently was how the Romans were said to have freshened the air), But regrettably, the doves refused to fly on the day of the launch😅!

This Dress ultimately became my future husband’s favorite dress of my entire collection. He said it evoked fantasies of Cleopatra, Helen of Troy and Mona Lisa all rolled into one. Incidentally, He specially requested that I wear the outfit again when I accompanied him a couple of years later to the Nigeria Music Awards, Nigeria’s equivalent of the American Grammys at that time, organized by Sir Tony Okoroji’s PMAN. It caused quite a stir!
He loved it so much, infact, that that he commissioned a series of Giaconda themed portraits of me in this ensemble with which he adorned the reception areas of our various homes.

Flash forward to Today, this Fragrance has been discontinued but the memory of this dress that launched a thousand ships still lingers!

I disagree with Bianca on this.
It was Chris Ngige that really ended godfatherism in Anambra when he reneged on the agreement he had with Chris Uba (Eselu na Uga) who made him governor with the help of Obasanjo.
That was what lead to him (Ngige) to be kidnapped.
There's nothing so special about Peter Obi, he was just a beneficiary of the dispute between Ngige, Chris Uba and Obasanjo. So Peter Obi getting judgement from Court is as a result of
Chris Uba and Obasanjo needed to remove Ngige as a Governor at all cost.

Chris Ngige was under the bondage of godfathers being Chris Uba and the other Uba brothers who brought him to power together with the main godfather Obasanjo who was president at the time.


He reneged on their agreement with them and they gave an indelible mark of shame to Anambra State by being the first and only sitting governor ever to be kidnapped in the entire history of Nigeria.



He managed to escape from where they imprisoned him and still was too afraid even to show up at state functions, and still trying to find a way to settle them.



Peter Obi is the person who ended godfathers in Anambra because he never mortgaged the states resources to emerge as the state governor but used an ideological party tied to the Ojukwu movement which was a masses movement that made his victory at the election possible.
