Turkish Officials are reported to have recently notified the Ukrainian Government that they will not provide Escorts and/or Protection for Commercial Ships that are attempting to Export Grain from Ports on the Black Sea due to the Risks associated to Escalation with Russia.

However, it was further stated that they are continuing to Focus on bringing Russia back to the Black Sea Grain Deal, with Negotiations between Turkish President Erdoğan and Russian President Putin expected to take place next month in August.

The Ukrainian Ambassador to Turkey, Vasyl Bondar stated that they are now hoping to come to some sort of Agreement with Bulgaria and Romania that will allow Ukrainian Commercial Ships to used their Territorial Waters in order to create a “Safe Shipping Lane” for the Export of Grain.
