So MDCN is now allowing Doctors to advertise themselves and their fans on social media like politicians?

if politicians who do nothing but cause problems for us are free to brandish themselves on social media, how much more a man who is single-handedly changing the face of healthcare delivery in our nation? How many hospitals in nigeria do you know where they carry out kidney transplant? how many hospitals do you know in Nigeria that treats the air in the hospital to avoid airborne diseeases?

Health / Diabetes: Things You Need To Know by SaveALife: 6:50pm On Apr 07, 2016
Risk factor for Diabetes

The world health organization has rightly made the theme of this year's #WorldHealthDay "Prevention of Diabetes"
If there is a disease that deserves great emphasis with respect to adult life, it is diabetes. It has rendered millions of lives and marriages miserable. What is interesting is that Diabetes if you can acquire and apply relevant tips necessary for managing it.
First, let us talk about some risk factors for developing diabetes and/or it's complications.
1. Overweight/Obesity: approximately 80% of diabetic people are overweight. Excess body weight is the single most important risk factor for diabetes; particularly those whose fat is distributed round the middle. The risk of diabetes is approximately doubled for those who are overweight and tripled for those with obesity. This is why weight reduction is the mostt important factor in the prevention of diabetes and the elimination of it's systemic dangers.
2. Hypertension: this is the co-agent of death in diabetes. Hypertension worsens diabetic problems by accelerating vascular damage, increasing risk of atherosclerosis (narrowing of the blood vessels) , stroke and heart diseases. As a mater of fact, diabetes and hypertension should not be allowed to dwell in anyone's body witout serious attention.
3. Cigarette smoking: ''man must die of something'', so say the addicts, and cigarette is one off such things. Cigarette smoking predisposes you to hypertension and worsens all the complications of diabetes. This point can not be over-emphasized; an adamant diabetic smoker has signed his death warrant.
4. Genetic inheritance: diabetes runs in families. A person whose parents are diabetic has a high chance of developing the same in adult life. This is why routine medical checks are advised for such affected individuals.

Arlington:
Hello everyone,

I wanted to start this for women who are still waiting for a child, who have tried for a long time, have suffered miscarriages, still births  and  are trying to find alternative ways of having a child.

In our culture it is really difficult to talk about this as people are ashamed or don't know who to trust  and are just generally confused. I have suffered 2 miscarriages and i am still on this journey i believe that i will  smileybe a mother some day.

We believe in Nigeria after 2 years  and no child you have major issues especially from your village but i know that is not always true.

So please come in let us support one another we can pray together, share ideas  seek advice and get advice  and travel this road together dont suffer in silence don't cry alone anymore let us help each other, until the day we carry our bundle of joy.
(My own bundle of joy was born December 2010 nothing is impossible with God)

ICSI is the latest assisted fertility treatment and God has been really blessing families through this medical break-through

Health / Conditions That Can Affect A Woman's Menstruation by SaveALife: 9:34pm On Apr 01, 2016
Question; I have not seen my menses for the past 3 months, what is the cause? Any treatment for me?

There are several causes of absence of menses in a woman. However, the first striking thing in the mind for a woman who failed to see her period is that the woman is pregnant until proven otherwise. In other words, pregnancy is the most common cause of absence of menses in women.

Apart from pregnancy, there are other reasons that can cause a woman to not see her menses.

1. Menopause: between the ages of 45 and 55 years, a woman's period may stop finally. If period after age 45 stops for 6 months, menopause is confirmed.
2. Abortion or miscarriage: After D&C, there could be gumming together of the two surfaces of the womb making menses difficult to come out or the flow might reduce.
3. PCOS: Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome . This is a hormonal problem. It usually manifests with menstrual delay, spotting, no ovulation and difficulty in achieving pregnancy.
4. High Prolactin level (Hyper prolactinaemia): this is also a hormonal problem. In this case, one of the hormones that makes a breastfeeding mother produce breast-milk is high in the blood. This hormone is called prolactine. Most times it manifests with breast-milk or water like secretion from the breast in a non pregnant or breastfeeding lady. That could also cause delay in menses and child-bearing.
5. Congenital abnormality: no menses due to complete coverage of the hymen of the vagina. This manifests with monthly waist pain during the assumed menstrual period but no flow.
6. Age: Usually, between 13 and 20 years of age menstrual flow may not be regular. Most of the girls that suffer it later have their periods as normal.

Treatment:
1. For someone who has entered menopause but still desire to have children, ICSI fertility treatment can help you. Through assisted reproductive technology, a 60 years old woman became pregnant and went on to deliver a set of twins.
2. for the case of post abortion absence or reduced menses, it can be treated depending on the degree of damage done to the inner lining of the womb during the abortion. A new technology called hysteroscopy can be used for both diagnosis and treatment in this case.
3. For congenital abnormality, treatment requires surgical opening of the hymen.
