Webmasters / Re: REVIEW: Speedhost247 Is The Best Affordable And Good Hosting Service Currently by scorenews: 10:04am On Aug 15
Thank God for reviews like this. This was how I also found a positive one on Usijali Hosting right here on this forum. And i haven't regretted it. You should have tried them

clam12345:
I signed up for hosting services with SpeedHost247 and they offered to transfer my files from my previous hosting provider. However, after they claimed to have completed the transfer, I discovered that my website files, totaling around 120GB, were missing. When I raised this issue with them, they insisted that they had moved the folder to their server. When I asked for the location of the zipped file, they falsely claimed that I had deleted it by creating another folder. I found this explanation to be illogical, as creating a folder with no content should not result in the deletion of a zipped file. Even if a new filename is created, the system prompts about the existence of another file with the same name. Despite this, they insisted that I had deleted the zipped file, even when the system had prompted me and I had not even created a file but only a folder in a completely different location.

Furthermore, it seems that they were unaware that the file size was 120GB, while the hosting space I had purchased from them was only 100GB. It is impossible for them to have moved a 120GB file into a 100GB hosting space and then unzipped it. They provided false information without even knowing this fact.

Additionally, despite their server indicating that I had 5 addon spaces, when I added four websites, they claimed that my addon space was exhausted and that I needed to upgrade my plan. I pointed out that I had only used 4 out of the 5 addon spaces, but they still pushed me to upgrade.

Based on my experience, I cannot trust SpeedHost247. It seems that they are not truthful and that customer service is not their priority. It appears that they prioritize money over customer satisfaction and they seem to have inexperienced staff who frequently lie.

I recommend others to stay away from SpeedHost247. They falsely claim to be located in the UK but are actually a Nigerian reseller platform.
RUN AWAY FROM THEM. RUN!! RUN!! RUN!!

Politics / NNPC Should Be Held Accountable For Nigeria’s Woes – CNPP by scorenews: 8:19pm On Aug 11

The Conference of Nigerian Political Parties, CNPP, has called for the immediate suspension of the managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, Mele Kyari.

Expressing outrage over the recent controversy surrounding the corporation, the conference, in a statement made available to journalists on Sunday, also called for a probe into the alleged subsidy scam, substandard imports and mismanagement of the Port Harcourt refinery.

A statement signed by the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the group, James Ezema, said the NNPC should be held accountable for the economic hardship the removal of the fuel subsidy has plunged Nigerians into.

“It is time to hold NNPC Limited accountable by immediately suspending Mele Kyari and independently probing the subsidy scam and other allegations in Nigeria’s upstream and downstream oil sectors to save the economy and minimize hunger.” The statement read.

The recent pump price hike from N167 to about N700 per litre under the guise of endless subsidy removal, according to the conference, has not alleviated the nationwide shortage of petrol, causing immense hardship for Nigerians.

Sad that despite the pump price hike, petrol is still very scarce in the country, making citizens suffer more, the CNPP, in its statement, faulted Mele Kyari’s leadership for being marked by controversy and failure.

“Mele Kyari’s leadership has been marked by controversy and failure, and his inability to address these issues makes him unfit to continue in his role,” CNPP said.

CNPP also highlighted the allegation of subsidy scam, which it described as “particularly egregious,” and the reported statement by the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Sanusi Lamido, that “people in NNPC don’t want their lucrative subsidy scam to end” as a damning indictment of the company’s leadership.

CNPP expressed concern over the alleged importation of substandard petroleum products which it said pose a significant risk to the health and safety of Nigerians.

“The allegation on the importation of substandard petroleum products in the country poses a significant risk to the health and safety of Nigerians,” CNPP said.

The CNPP also criticized the endless rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt Refinery, despite the huge sums of money already spent, saying it is another testament to the mismanagement and inefficiency that plagues NNPC Limited.

“The endless rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt Refinery, despite the huge sums of money already spent, is another testament to the mismanagement and inefficiency that plagues NNPC Limited,” CNPP said.

Flying an aircraft weighing less than 1,000 kilograms, Captain Odujinrin aims to set a Guinness World Record (GWR) with this 20-hour endurance flight.

In a statement, Captain Odujinrin described his mission as a “record-breaking 20-hour endurance flight from London to Nigeria with a first stop in Kano State inside the smallest and lightest aircraft ever.” The ambitious journey is meticulously planned, with stops at key locations across Nigeria, including Kano – the first state where a plane landed in the country, along with Borno, Enugu, Akwa Ibom, Owerri, Warri, Benin, Ogun State, Lagos, and the capital city, Abuja.

The flight, documented as part of a larger project, will culminate in a reception in Abuja, where Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and the President are expected to welcome Captain Odujinrin.

To prepare for the flight, Captain Odujinrin underwent a rigorous preparation process, including a weight loss journey of over 20 kilograms to optimize the aircraft’s aerodynamic efficiency.

On March 29, 2017, he completed his “One Man, One Plane” expedition, becoming the first African and the ninth British pilot to fly solo around the world.

Foreign Affairs / China Supports Iran In Defending Security, Says Foreign Minister by scorenews: 3:22pm On Aug 11

China supports Iran in defending its “sovereignty, security and national dignity”, Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi told Iran’s acting foreign minister in a phone call on Sunday, according to a statement by China’s foreign ministry.

In the phone call, Wang repeated Beijing’s denunciation of the assassination of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran on July 31, saying the strike had violated Iran’s sovereignty and threatened regional stability.

Iran and the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas have accused Israel of carrying out strike that killed Haniyeh.

Israel has not claimed or denied responsibility for the killing, which has fueled concern that the war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip was turning into a wider Middle East war.

Iran has vowed to “harshly punish” Israel over the assassination.

Wang told Ali Bagheri Kani, Iran’s Acting Foreign Minister, that the killing of Haniyeh had “directly undermined the Gaza ceasefire negotiation process and undermined regional peace and stability,” China’s foreign ministry said.

“China supports Iran in defending its sovereignty, security and national dignity in accordance with the law, and in its efforts to maintain regional peace and stability, and stands ready to maintain close communication with Iran,” Wang was quoted as saying.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Sunday nominated Abbas Araqchi as the country’s foreign minister. Araqchi had been Iran’s chief negotiator in nuclear talks from 2013 to 2021.

Politics / Election Losers Wanted To Stage Coup Against Tinubu – Joe Igbokwe by scorenews: 3:00pm On Aug 11

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Joe Igbokwe has accused election losers of wanting to stage a coup against President Bola Tinubu.

Igbokwe said Tinubu can’t be ousted through coup because the president used 30 years to prepare for his time to occupy the highest political seat in Nigeria.

Posting on his Facebook page, Igbokwe wrote: “Election losers wanted to stage a Coup against a President that laboured for nearly 30 years to prepare himself for the exalted office.

“Not when someone like PBAT is the President. Make we de play. You cannot carry the land na.”

This is coming when an APC chieftain, Adamu Garba also claimed that the cabals that ensured that former President Goodluck Jonathan lost in 2015 had been activated against Tinubu in the North.

Garba, however, vowed that the Northern cabal might have succeeded against Jonathan but would fail against Tinubu.

Foreign Affairs / Ugandan King Returns Home After Declined Visa Extension By Namibian Authorities by scorenews: 8:01pm On Jul 22

The king had been receiving medical treatment in the East African country for an undisclosed illness since April.

The Okonguari Psychotherapeutic Centre where he is receiving treatment requested a visa extension, a request that was denied on the grounds that the Namibian immigration law provides for a maximum stay of only 90 days in a year to non-citizens.

“Having checked the records, I wish to inform you that the request for an extension for His Royal Highness Ronald Mutebi II, King of the Buganda Kingdom, is declined,” Executive Director of the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation Penda Naanda was quoted in a response letter to the Centre.

Following this, the Kabaka arrived at the Entebbe Airport on July 21 and was received by Buganda Premier Charles Peter Mayiga and members of the royal family led by Queen Sylvia Nagginda.

According to Mayiga, the King’s Namibia trip was recommended by medical experts for health reasons. He confirmed the King is recovering.

“Previously we have been informing the public that we have to prioritise Kabaka’s health and therefore we had to follow directives from his medical experts. According to his current health status, the Kabaka is improving well and we pray that he will resume his duties soon,” he quoted.

Visa Extension Denied

The king’s visa denial came months of protests by subjects of the Ugandan King. Ugandan nationals protested in front of the Namibian Diplomatic Mission in the UK, demanding the return of the traditional monarch to Uganda.

They alleged kidnapping and demanded that the Namibian government releases information about the king’s stay in their country to dispel suspicions.

These nationals were referred to the Buganda traditional authorities considering the private conditions under which the king travelled.

Namibia’s Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security clarified the non-extension through as statement authorised by its Executive Director of Migration, Etienne Maritz.

According to the release, the protests by subjects of the Buganda Kingdom threatened the security of the Namibian diplomatic officials.

“As a sovereign state, we have the right to implement our laws and international law. We cannot extend the King’s visa due to security considerations and the need to maintain order,” he was quoted by local news outlet Monitor.

“We have to respect their rules and ways of life. Since Kabaka went to Namibia, many people have turned the country into… a market where they enter as they wish,” he was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, Ugandan authorities have accepted Namibia’s decision. Foreign Affairs Minister Henry Oryem Okello said, “Namibia has decided that they are not interested in this kind of bad publicity, and we should respect the Namibian position”.

Politics / Wike Frustrating Development Efforts In Rivers – APC Chieftain, Eze by scorenews: 2:22pm On Jul 16

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has accused the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, of frustrating genuine development efforts aimed at leveraging opportunities to transform Rivers State into an ambitious economic hub for the rest of Africa.

Eze said while other state governments are striving to implement measures to meet the yearnings of their people, especially given the bad economic situation of the country, Rivers State is instead embroiled in an unnecessary superiority brawl instigated by the FCT Minister, who is relying on support from the Presidency.

In October 2023, the multi-billion naira Rivers State House of Assembly complex was razed by fire, allegedly caused by suspected arsonists loyal to the FCT Minister who threw an explosive into the complex around 9:25 pm.

The incident allegedly aimed to pressure the President to declare a state of emergency on the pretext that the state is enmeshed in a violent crisis that has overwhelmed its security architecture.

According to Eze, “The state government has committed to rebuild the complex with a substantial amount of money, funds that could have been channeled to other meaningful ventures beneficial to the people had there been peace.”

In a statement made available to DAILY POST on Monday, Eze said economists have revealed through in-depth research that Rivers State has lost public sector investments worth over N2 trillion due to the endless political crisis.

The statement noted that this figure is separate from the cumulative impact of raw figures denied to the oil-rich state and the positive effects the projects would have had on the local economy and state GDP.

He pointed out that while Lagos State is issuing bond after bond, Rivers State is resorting to loan repayments from commercial banks by the immediate past administration, which had nothing to show for the borrowed money.

He said, “During Amaechi’s tenure as governor, the state was entitled to a N375bn (or $250m) World Bank water project that was to transform Port Harcourt into a modern city. Everything was ready, but the office of the Minister of Finance, which was to sign off for its drawdown, was allegedly prevented from signing under Goodluck Jonathan on the prompting of the same Wike, who was then a minister.

“That young man is averse to the development of Rivers State. I can tell you for free. Today, Port Harcourt has remained a borehole city.”

Eze further detailed other abandoned projects, such as the plan to develop a fast-moving transport system known as Monorail with about N250bn, with over N20bn already spent by the state government and most trunks of coaches reportedly already at the Onne Port. The project was abandoned when Wike came to power.

“Port Harcourt, under Amaechi, was designed to be a modern city through the creation of the Greater Port Harcourt City by expanding to eight local councils with modern facilities. The project was to consume N100bn per year for 10 years (N1 trillion), but under Wike, the project suffered what looks like half-hearted status or what many call drain pipes to settle political backers.”

Politics / PDP Disowns Ubolo As Member In Kogi by scorenews: 1:03pm On Jul 16

The Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) has disowned one Mr Itodo Ubolo as a member of the party in Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

In a statement signed on Sunday by Hon Isah Alhassan, the party chairman in Ofu Local Government on behalf of ward chairmen, executives and critical stakeholders of the party, he noted that Ubolo is no longer a member of the party.

Alhassan accused Ubolo of anti-party activities prior to the 2023 November 11 governorship election in Kogi State, stressing that he single handedly worked for the Social Democratic Party, (SDP) for his own selfish interest.

He warned Ubolo to stop masquerading as a member of the PDP in a bid to get cheap fame ahead of the forthcoming party Congress in Kogi State.

According to him, “You have never been a consistent politician. A man who has changed four political parties within the space of four months.

“Don’t come with your co-travelers to disrupt the peace we are having in Ofu PDP since you and your unstable politicians left the party to join the All Progressive Grand Alliance, (APGA), Accord Party, APC and Social Democratic Party, (SDP) within four months.

“Just because of the recent Court of Appeal ruling affirming the election of Governor Usman Ododo as the winner of the November 11 Governorship election in Kogi State, you have now decided to move from SDP where you were made the Director General logistics and finance to start organizing PDP meetings in your hotel.

“You (Itodo Ubolo) and your co travelers are on a mission to disrupt our party’s upcoming Congress by fielding some of your members to purchase nomination forms to contest various positions across Kogi East.

“I Hon Isah Alhassan, the Divisional Chairman of Ofu Local Government and the entire Local Government Executives of our great party, PDP, say no to your plan.”

Foreign Affairs / Gambia Parliament Rejects Bill To End Ban On Female Genital Mutilation by scorenews: 12:48pm On Jul 16

Gambia’s parliament on Monday rejected a bill that would have ended a ban on female genital mutilation, after lawmakers voted down all the clauses in the proposed law.

“The ban on FGM is still firmly maintained in the Gambia,” the Ministry of Information said in a statement after the vote. “Government stands firm in its resolve to eliminate this harmful practice.”

The bill to overturn the ban sparked a public debate about female genital mutilation for the first time in the West African nation that divided villages, families and parliament.

The lawmaker who took the proposal to parliament, Almaneh Gibba, said he was upholding cultural and religious prerogatives in the Muslim-majority country where FGM is widespread and deeply rooted. Many Islamic scholars dispute his arguments.

The World Health Organization (WHO) says FGM has no health benefits and can lead to excessive bleeding, shock, psychological problems and even death.

WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus commended parliament’s decision in a joint statement with high-level United Nations representatives.

“The fragility of progress to end FGM cannot be overstated. Assaults on women’s and girls’ rights in countries around the globe have meant that hard-won gains are in danger of being lost,” the statement said.

The bill had passed a second reading in March with only five out of 53 lawmakers voting against it, raising concerns among rights advocates that Gambia would become the first to reverse a ban on the practice.

But after holding weeks of public hearings, parliament’s health and gender affairs committees presented a joint report on July 8 recommending that Gambia maintain the ban.

Lawmakers adopted the report by a vote of 35 to 17 with two abstentions. Political analysts said lawmakers may have been swayed by testimonies from doctors and survivors about FGM’s harmful consequences.

Parliament voted again on Monday on each of the bill’s clauses ahead of a third and final reading scheduled for July 24.

Around 30 MPs voted against each clause, prompting Parliament Speaker Fabakary Tombong Jatta to stop the bill moving forward to the final reading.

“The (National) Assembly cannot be engaged in such a futile exercise as to allow the bill to proceed to a third reading,” Jatta said after the votes. “The bill is rejected and the legislative process exhausted.”

Gibba said he could not immediately comment because the parliamentary session was ongoing.

Anti-FGM activist Fatou Baldeh, who was cut when she was 8, said she was relieved, but also disappointed the bill had been considered in the first place.

“I am not celebrating for the fact that our women and girls’ lives were put on the line. That made me sad,” Baldeh said.

Gambian legal scholar Satang Nabaneh said the bill’s rejection showed Gambia’s commitment to international and human rights obligations.

“We are hoping that this is a clear call for implementation (of anti-FGM laws),” she added.

Anti-FGM campaigners say the 2015 law banning FGM has been poorly enforced, which the government denies.

The first and only conviction so far, of three women found guilty of cutting eight infant girls, occurred in 2023, prompting Gibba to introduce the repeal bill.

Politics / APC Vows To Take Over Anambra, Abia, Enugu by scorenews: 10:22am On Jul 15

The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has reiterated its resolve to take over Abia and Enugu states come the 2027 general elections.

The party said it has made serious inroads in the South-East zone and will take over the states in the next general election.

The national vice chairman of APC, Ijeoma Arodiogu, stated this in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital, during the APC South-East stakeholder’s meeting, which was attended by many bigwigs of the party in the zone.

He noted the party has concluded discussion with four Labour Party House of Representatives members in Enugu State for their defection to APC.

Arodiogu also said that the party had received many opposition party leaders in Abia State, including former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Chinedu Orji.

He said: “In Enugu State, we have concluded a discussion with four House of Representatives members of the Labour Party.

“In Abia State, we have received lots of political party members, including former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Chief Chinedum Orji and his group.

“So, we are strong in all the states and it is my utmost joy and all the joy of my executives that we will take all the states in South East and we are not looking for 25 per cent in the forthcoming election, in the 2027 presidential election. We are not looking for anything less than 80–90 per cent.

“Our people have already realised the lies that were used to deceive us in the 2023 general election—the lies of Islamisation of the South East canvassed by our brother, the lies of the woes of the South East.

“So, next time anybody tells you APC is Fulani party, an evil party, they are going to Islamise you, they are going to destroy the country, tell them no.”

In his remarks, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, called on the people of South-East to keep faith with the APC administration

He noted that President Bola Tinubu has done a lot for the zone through appointments and the provision of infrastructure in the zone.

He called for unity and hard work to make the party stronger for the 2027 general election.

The national chairman of the party, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, said the party must be cohesive and united to win Abia, Anambra and Enugu.

“The issue of Anambra State, the issue of Abia State, and the issue of Enugu State is a big threat but we are happy because we are determined to see that these three states are liberated,” Ganduje said.

Politics / Voters Were Confused In 2023 – NNPP Gives Reason For New Logo by scorenews: 10:18am On Jul 14

The New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, has provided an insight into why there was a need for it to effect clear changes in its logo.

DAILY POST reported on Friday that the party, on whose platform the Governor of Kano State was elected in 2023, has changed its constitution, which paved the way for changing its slogan, logo and flag.

The national chairman of NNPP, Dr Ajuji Ahmed, spoke during the official presentation of the new logo, flag and slogan of the party in Abuja on Friday.

The party presented its new logo, which will adorn ballot papers in every election in Nigeria, starting in November this year, to the Nigerian media following approval by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

The party clarified that due to the issue of logistics, INEC will still use its old logo for the off-season September 21, 2024, governorship election in Edo State and the re-run election coming up in Kano State shortly.

“However, beginning with the November 16, 2024, off-season governorship election in Ondo State, this new logo will be on the ballot papers,” it said

Providing an insight into why there was a need to effect clear changes in its logo, the national chairman said: “Our experience in the last general elections when the old logo with its many colours posed a great challenge in the production of the ballot papers gave us a clear indication that, for the party, going forward, there was an urgent need to do something about the logo, especially. In fact, in some cases, our voters were confused by the way the old logo came out in the ballot papers across the country.

“As a party focused on going forward, we did not blame anybody; we did not go to tribunals to challenge anyone on account of the way the logo came out in ballot papers throughout the country.

“Instead, we went on a mission of dialogue and wide consultations within and outside the party, which took us to where we are today.

“Let me also use this medium to call on all State Independent Electoral Commissions, SIECs, across the country to take notice of this new development in the democratic journey of this great country. All SIECs should feature this new logo on ballot papers for local government elections in all states of the Federation.”
