I believe sexual harassment and the ilk is unacceptable irrespective of circumstances. While laws are crucial to make this a reality, I believe self-policing and group-policing will even go a longer way. Unfortunately, we're not having enough open conversations about what is acceptable and what is not.

I'm wondering why he prefer to play through his nostril. Is it that his mouth is sealed or what? As a flutist also, I don't know if I should applaud him or not cos this just doesn't make sense to me at all.

If he was playing through his mouth, he wouldnt have made nairaland front page. BTW, it's a recorder and not a flute.

Below is a flute

Music/Radio / Some OAPS You Probably Do Not Know About by sCross: 12:16pm On Jan 14, 2016
There are certain OAPs that dont make the news. They do awesome jobs and despite being in the media are able to steer clear of controversies. In no particular order they are;

1. Fola Folayan – 4lah as she is popularly known. She is a broadcaster on Nigeria Info 99.3FM. A serial blogger and author, she is also passionate about music and God as can be seen from her posts and conversations. Don’t let those dimples fool you, she drops hard truth on her twitter handle @4lah that every musician can learn from.

2. Titi Oyinsan – Titi the Dynamite is a OAP who has a thing for books, African literature to be precise. She regularly hosts authors on her program “Tea Break with Titi” on 92.3FM Inspiration FM. She is the Network Founder of I am Dynamite; an NGO with a mission to support education for the girl. It has been able to garner the support of A-list celebrities. You should follow her on @titithedynamite to know her more

3. Kayode Ogunleke- plies his trade with Wazobia FM 95.1FM. He is a voice over artist, a life and relationship coach, match maker and a communications expert. If you’re single or having issues in your relationship follow @kbabalovedoctorkbaba2

4. Iniabasi Itama – The beautiful Ini is a scriptwriter, novelist and poet. You can probably steal her heart with a mind blowing cake or not (lol). Ini bid farewell on the 12th of January from Smooth 98.1FM where she anchored The Kazbah, a midday program that enthralled listeners. Here is her farewell message. We wish her nothing but success as she takes up a new challenge. Follow @iniitama to know what next

Nairaland / General / Your Car Insurance May Be Fake by sCross: 8:44am On Aug 19, 2015
According to sources, about 60% of ALL motor insurance certificates are fake.

NAICOM (National Insurance Commission) and NIA (Nigeria Insurer's Association) have decided to curb this by creating an online platform NIID (Nigerian Insurance Industry Database) for verifying your motor insurance. ALL genuine policies are uploaded on the database.

You can check by going to www.askniid.org/checkpolicy/aspx.
Select single from the options. Input your CAR REGISTRATION NUMBER into the field

If it doesn't display your true information, it means your insurance certificate is fake and you can't make a claim if anything were to happen to you or your car. Furthermore, the authorities could impound your vehicle.

With as small as a genuine 3rd party Insurance, you can be covered for as much as 1 Million naira. This means that even if you hit a range rover and it costs up to 1M, the Insurance company would cover ONLY the damages made to the range rover.

With a comprehensive Insurance cover, the damage done to the range rover and your car would be fixed. There's no point fighting on the road after an accident when there is an insurance company that would fix the damages.

If you'd like to purchase a genuine certificate, just respond on the trail or send me a message.
Nairaland / General / Get up to 16% Tax Rebate by Purchasing Life Insurance by sCross: 5:20pm On Jul 23, 2015
If you work in a corporate environment or have any dealings with companies, chances are that you're being taxed and perhaps heavily.

In lay terms, a tax rebate is a policy that reduces the amount of tax you pay if you have purhcased an investment product e.g Insurance.

Illustration

If you purchase a life assurance product where you pay monthly e.g 20,000 over the space of 3 -5 years.

At the end of the first year, you would have paid a gross premium of 240,000
From the 2nd year, you can write to the tax authorities through your HR and as much as 16% of the 240,000 can be written off for you. This means you'd be about 38k better off.
And you can do this for the subsequent years while your insurance policy is still valid.

This means that your tax would be 200,000 less than what you would have initially paid.

Plus at the end of your investment period, you would get your full investment from the insurance company plus interest accrued.

Assumptions
- You work for a reputable company
- You purchase insurance from a reputable insurance company

PS* It's not strictly for those with blue collar jobs. Entrepreneurs can also benefit from it.

That's what my brother also saw online before going to Lagos. But you know things are not straight forward in Naija.

I think they should be taken up on it. That's a breach of contract except of course they hid *terms and conditions apply* somewhere in the application process.

This should be front page worthy.

From 5th to 10th positions didn't get the cash but got the rest of the goodies.

NARROW ESCAPE : My brother got 4th position. He narrowly got to be among the ones that won the cash prize.

Congratulations!!!

its a third party insurance from Oasis insurance company in Anthony Lagos, though am in Benin.

I checked my uncle's car and it says active
when I checked my brother in-law's car its says you do not have an insurance cover

me I de wait the police that will stop me on the road, im life go collect

Your brother in law's cert is also fake or non existent.

An original genuine 3rd party is 5k and you can do it yourself and get your certificate immediately thanks to technology. With a genuine 3rd party, the insurance coy covers any damage done to another person or car up to 1M.

Exactly my point! It's now a race for the big bucks for virtually doing nothing. Nada, no life saving inventions, no theories! Nothing! Of what use is playing video games to the human race on the long run? Of what use is spending some time learning in school( both conventional and unconventional)? When you can answer those two questions sincerely, then you would get my point.

I believe they don't do nothing. They help to test and make future games better.

Currently there's a sync btw games and virtual reality, people like game testers come in handy to make these products a reality.

I won't be surprised if KSI gets called in to test a future version of a game.

People are under rating school cos the bulk of what it has done in the 21st century (esp in naija) is to raise zombies- it was good in the industrial age but not in the info age(now)
