Politics / As Politicians Rekindle Dollarization, CBN May Renew Containment Measures by sdfggege: 8:41am On Jun 06, 2022
There are indications that the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, may be forced to renew its anti-dollarization measures to protect the local currency from further depreciation.

A source in the apex bank told Vanguard MoneyDigest that the monetary authorities were worried over extensive deployment of United States Dollars in the political field amidst the primary elections of the leading political parties in the run-up to the general elections early next year.

The concern of the apex bank, according to the source, was heightened last weekend when the fortunes of the Naira nose-dived in the official foreign exchange market after a similar development earlier last week in the parallel market.

The parallel market traded USDollar at N610 earlier in the week before it moderated to N607 which was still significantly higher than previous week’s level of N603 and last month’s average of N595.

Last weekend the Naira depreciated against the dollar at the official market of Investors and Exporters window exchanging at N419.75 to the dollar, a 0.06 per cent depreciation, compared to N419.50 to the dollar on Thursday.

As the party primaries draws to a close tomorrow political observers had noted that news from the various states of the federation are replete with vote-buying and capture of delegates with the use of the United States of America dollars. The naira wept.

An aid to one of the Senators from the South-South state was quoted as saying, ‘‘It was a dollar rain in Abuja that had never been seen before. To the discerning, it was obvious that the politicians (probably in connivance with dishonest bankers) had mopped up enough dollars preparatory to the party primaries.’’

Meanwhile, the serious-minded industrialists, manufacturers and genuine businessmen were going through the harrowing torture of buying dollars in the black market consequentially causing a sharp increase in the prices of manufactured and imported products that affect the everyday man.
Foreign Affairs / Ukraine Calls For Longer-range Weapons by sdfggege: 8:23am On May 29, 2022
Ukrainian presidential adviser and peace negotiator Mykhailo Podolyak repeated a call for U.S.-made long-range multiple-rocket launchers. U.S. officials have told Reuters such systems are actively being considered, with a decision possible in coming days.

"It is hard to fight when you are attacked from 70 km away and have nothing to fight back with ... we need effective weapons," Podolyak posted on Twitter.

President Volodymyr Zelenskiy voiced hopes in a late-night video address that Ukraine's allies would provide needed weapons, adding that he expected "good news" this week.

There was a lab like that built in 2018-2019 at Lagos, under Ambode.

It was called infection control something.
AIT covered it.

Ask AIT reporters.
I know there is a Biobank Laboratory in Lagos. It was funded by Canada.

The public wants to know exactly where and what American biological laboratories in Nigeria are doing.

The authorities should investigate them to reassure the public.

How about Russia gives us the location in Lagos, Abuja and Zaria so that Nigerians can confirm themselves.
We should investigate them ourselves, and it's important to nip it in the bud.

Russia may have some basis for saying so.

If there are real problems with the US biological labs in Nigeria, the US will pass the buck.

Guns and racism in America are like corruption in our country.

Former US president Donald Trump rejected calls for tightened gun controls Friday following the Texas school massacre, saying decent Americans should be allowed the firearms they need to defend themselves against “evil.”

“The existence of evil in our world is not a reason to disarm law-abiding citizens… The existence of evil is one of the very best reasons to arm law-abiding citizens,” he told members of the National Rifle Association.

Trump’s remarks came as he headlined an NRA event in Houston, three days after a gun massacre at a Texas elementary school reignited the tinderbox debate about US gun control.

“The various gun control policies being pushed by the left would have done nothing to prevent the horror that took place. Absolutely nothing,” he said.

An 18-year-old gunman with a legally-bought AR-15-style rifle killed 19 children and two adults at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, on Tuesday, marking the deadliest school shooting in the state’s history.

Trump read out the names of all 19 children, whom he described as victims of an out-of-control “lunatic,” before suggesting that efforts at gun control were “grotesque.”

“All of us must unite, Republican and Democrat — in every state, and at every level of government — to finally harden our schools and protect our children… What we need now is a top-to-bottom security overhaul at schools across this country,” he added.

Multiple speakers, including Texas Governor Greg Abbott, pulled out of the event after the murders but Trump confirmed on Wednesday he would not be canceling his appearance at the NRA’s annual “Leadership Forum.”

President Joe Biden, who upbraided the US gun lobby in the wake of the shootings, is due in Uvalde on Sunday with first lady Jill Biden to “grieve with the community,” White House officials said.

The NRA is considered the most powerful gun rights organization in the country, although its influence has waned as it has become mired in legal battles linked to a corruption scandal.

It has rejected most initiatives to prevent mass shootings, including expanded background checks on gun purchases, although it said ahead of Trump’s speech that audience members would not be allowed to carry firearms.

Republicans in Washington have suggested “hardening” schools with beefed up security — including armed guards posted at a single entry and exit point — rather than restrictions on gun ownership.

They have also spoken of the need to focus on mental health, although critics point out that other nations with stricter gun controls face the same issues and don’t see regular mass shootings.

There have been 214 mass shootings this year in the United States, according to the Gun Violence Archive.

They include a racist massacre at a supermarket in a Black neighborhood of Buffalo, New York, just 10 days before the Texas killings.

Russia says US-controlled biological laboratories in Nigeria, where monkeypox came from, are responsible for the spread of the viral zoonosis, urging inspection of the “strange coincidence”.

Citing a report by the World Health Organization (WHO) that monkeypox originally spread from Nigeria, Igor Kirillov, chief of the Russian Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense Troops, said on Friday that US-deployed biological infrastructure in the African country was responsible for the outbreak.

"According to the available information, at least four US-controlled biolaboratories operate in Nigeria," Sputnik quoted Kirillov as saying, adding that US biolabs were present in the cities of Abuja, Zaria and Lagos.

Kirilov called on the WHO to investigate the alleged US role in spreading monkeypox, noting it is necessary to point out a "strange coincidence that requires additional inspection by specialists."

"According to European and US media, materials of 2021 Munich Security Conference (that is, amid the COVID-19 pandemic) mentioned practice of monkeypox countering scenario," the commander added.

Meanwhile, an interview with RT Arabic on Thursday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Armenia, Kazakhstan, and Central Asian countries have US-funded biolabs, and Moscow is discussing this issue with its neighbors both bilaterally and through the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) for implementation of biological safety.

"With practically all the CSTO countries and other CIS countries, we have either concluded or are preparing to conclude memorandums of cooperation on biological safety, stipulating for mutual disclosures on how biological programs are developing in each of our countries," Lavrov added.

"These memorandums envisage mutual visits and examinations of the activities of the laboratories," he said, adding that having “transparency” to “make sure that these programs do not have a military dimension” is of paramount importance.

World faces ‘formidable’ challenges over COVID-19, monkeypox, warns WHO
The world is facing "formidable" challenges, including COVID-19, monkeypox, and the war in Ukraine, the head of the World Health Organization (WHO) has warned.
Monkeypox is related to smallpox, a deadly disease that was eradicated in 1980. But monkeypox is much less severe, with a fatality ratio of 3-6%. Most people recover within three to four weeks.

Sylvie Briand, WHO director for Global Infectious Hazard Preparedness, told the UN agency's annual assembly that if the world acted quickly against monkeypox, it can be contained easily.

Needed measures included the early detection and isolation of cases and contact tracing, she added.

Till now, about 300 cases have been found in around 20 countries.

As part of the Cooperative Threat Reduction Programme, an extensive UP-4 project was carried out to investigate the possibility of spreading highly dangerous infections through migratory birds. Documents received show that 991 biological samples were collected between November 2019 and January 2020 alone.

A total of ten such projects (including UP-3, UP-6, UP-8, UP-10) have been reported to have involved work with pathogens of particularly dangerous and economically important infections - Congo-Crimean fever, leptospirosis, tick-borne encephalitis and African swine fever.
There is growing evidence of darkness in America's biological laboratories. WHO should really look into the US funded Nigerian labs. If there's a pandemic because of their plot, we're screwed.

Russia is currently claiming that the US has 4 biological labs in Nigeria where it injected monkeys with smallpox to create monkeypox and infected people with it before it got to Europe.

Picture is attached and more information should come out in the coming weeks.
