Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr. known by his stage name Shatta Wale (formerly Bandana), is a Ghanaian-born producer and reggae-dancehall musician born on 17th October 1984. He is best known for his biggest breakthrough hit song “Dancehall King” which led to winning the Artiste of the Year at the 2014 edition of the Ghana Music Awards. He traveled to Jamaica to learn dancehall.

Charles attended Winneba Secondary School and during that time he was known as ‘Ayoz’. He changed his name to “Bandana” after senior high school and released the track “Bandana from Ghana”. The song made tremendous air waves in the Ghanaian music industry in 2004. After the release of his first album titled Bandana from Ghana, Bandana went into a musical hiatus until he re-branded himself to Shatta Wale and released his song “Dancehall King” in 2013, which became a hit. He is the leader, chief executive officer (CEO) and founder of the Shatta Movement (SM) or (SM4LYF).

Shatta Wale’s rise happened at the 2013 VGMAs, with his musical dexterity, he composed a song against the organisers of the Ghana Music Awards titled Me Need No Awards because he alleged the organisers robbed him off the Dancehall Artiste of the Year to female Dancehall Artiste Kaakie. The song had very uncharitable lyrics. This the media, bloggers and other entertainment pundits claim led to his breakthrough and relevance in the Ghana Music Industry.

His greatest hit in 2013, “Dancehall King” took the airwaves by surprise. Shatta Wale’s musical revenue is mostly generated through hosting of shows which attracts most thousands of Ghanaian youths.

In January 2014, Shatta Wale, joined hundreds of Ghanaians to welcome the Queen’s Baton Relay, which was on tour of some Commonwealth countries, ahead of the games in August 2014. Grateful for the opportunity given him, he took to social media to thank those who made it happen.

A bricklayer identified as Lukman has been arrested by the Kwara state police command after he allegedly attacked and cut off the hand of a 60-year-old woman, Muibat Abifarin, with a cutlass.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the attacker was showing signs of insanity when the sad incident happened. He reportedly also attacked two of his co-tenants in a bungalow at Orolodo Area, beside the Olomu’s palace in Omu-Aran.
The woman who had her hand severed was rushed to a private hospital.

A nurse who spoke to NAN said the woman could only receive visitors around 6 p.m. when she might have fully recovered from the effect of the surgery.

She, however, described the ageing woman’s condition as stable and that she was responding to treatment.

Three sisters and their cousin have been killed in their sleep by generator fumes at Aghoro, Ekeremor Local Government Area, Bayelsa State over the weekend.



The deceased were said to be primary school pupils identified as the children of Demedogha London and Stephen Binasuode. The deadly fumes emanated from a new generator placed at the balcony of Demedogha’s bungalow.



The distraught father of the deceased children, said he kept the generator at the balcony far from the room of the girls. However when he woke up at 6am the next day, he discovered that the generator had shifted close to the door of the girl’s room.

“The generator was outside but it was on tiles. The generator shifted close to the door. At about 6am, I came out to put off the generator and saw that it was close to the door. Eventually when I entered the room I saw that all the children were dead” he said

An Orlando woman stabbed her 11-year-old daughter more than a dozen times to prevent the child from being promiscuous and having sex with multiple men.Police say Rosa Rivera, 28, stabbed Aleyda Rivera multiple times and then sat with her in a car "for hours" while the girl bled to death.Family friend Bianca Fernandez tells WESH2 News she was in a home on Citadel Drive when Rivera arrived and pounded on the front door around 7:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Fernandez said Rivera tried to force her way into the home but she pushed Rivera out and slammed the door.Fernandez said Aleyda was in Rivera's car, and she seemed fine at the time. She said a relative talked to Rivera and then mother and daughter left.Fernandez said Rivera returned to the house a short time later and dumped the girl's body on the lawn.

Rivera then loaded Aleyda back into the car and sped off.The Orange County Sheriff said Rivera drove to Winnie Palmer Hospital, where Aleyda was pronounced dead on arrival.Hospital security detained Rivera after she wielded a blood-soaked pocket knife."My baby is gone," Rivera told first responders, according to an arrest report.Aleyda suffered 15 stab wounds to her back and a defensive wound on her right arm.

"She was a beautiful little girl," said Fernandez, who added that the girl's grandmother is "devastated."Fernandez said Rivera and her daughter moved to Orlando from Texas in December. She said Rivera's mother paid her rent and bought her a car.According to a criminal complaint, Rivera admitted to stabbing Aleyda in her car.

She said she believed the girl was having sex with men because she "smiled different."Fernandez said none of the allegations made by Rivera about her daughter were true."Since she's been here she's just been going crazy," said Fernandez.

The Orange County Sheriff said they don't believe any of the claims of alleged sexual abuse.Aleyda would have turned 12 later this month.Rivera was charged with first-degree murder. She is being held in the Orange County jail without bond.

Another accident has been reported close to the Ojodu Berger area of Lagos, this time on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Social media users report that several cars were involved in the accident.

A tanker is also said to be involved, although the cause of the accident is currently unknown.

This is coming a day after a diesel-laden tanker fell over close to Ojodu Berger, causing traffic.

Authorities say a kidnapping early Thursday in Mississippi ended in tragedy when a 23-year-old father fatally shot his 1-year-old daughter, whom he had abducted that morning, before turning the gun on himself following a 30-mile chase with police.

PEOPLE confirms that Lavonte Lloyd kidnapped both his baby, Kamaya, and her mother at gunpoint Thursday morning, taking them hostage in a home in Cruger.

According to Holmes County Sheriff Willie March, who spoke to reporters about the kidnapping, Lloyd fled the scene of the abduction in Cruger before deputies could arrive — taking Kamaya with him but leaving the baby’s mom behind.

Pursuing officers caught up with Lloyd’s vehicle near Greenwood on Highway 82 and followed him into Sunflower County.

The Central Bank of Nigeria has facilitated the refunds of a total of N60 billion by commercial banks to their customers on March 31, 2018 through the intervention of the consumer protection department.
CBN director of Payment Systems Department, Dipo Fatokun, disclosed this at the ‘Meet The Executive’ forum organised by the Finance Correspondents Association of Nigeria (FICAN) in Lagos at the weekend.
Fatokun, who noted that the recovery also includes $18 million, 26,000 euros and 6000 British pounds, said such resolution will help build more confidence in the payment system and bring more people into the financial services net.
