Hi all,

The journey that started last year May has finally come to an end. We finally landed in Canada yesterday. Glory to God as we are now officially Permanent Residents of Canada. Nothing much was asked except if we have new family members and if we have any criminal record. Even POF was not asked.

Want to wish everyone with their applications still in process all the best. For those that are still awaiting ITA and PNP, God will perfect it and finally for those who are contemplating on starting this Canadian PR journey, please start as soon as you can, you have got nothing much to lose.

I will still be on the forum to answer any questions you may have but I won't be able to answer any job related questions as we are only doing short landing. We will be travelling back home in the next few weeks as we are not planning to move to Canada permanently until the next 2 years.

Congratulations

I am happy to read this, I will like to contact you for some clarification, I have sent you a request.

Thanks so much and waiting to read from you

Also you can check on Etihad website

http://www.etihad.com/en-qa/before-you-fly/us-preclearance/service-requirements/

popoya:
For those who are in Middle East.
There is a CBP counter in Abu Dhabi..I guess only Ethihad flies from there.
(http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Air-India-seeks-US-pre-clearance-travel-facility-at-Delhi-Mumbai-airports/articleshow/47636842.cms)...Go through the entire article.

If you clear CBP from here, then you will enter USA proper without the Customs worries.

If you are flying Etihad to US, you will enjoy it because of their first class service, and also you will have your POE at Abu Dhabi and fly to US as local flight.

I had a pleasant experience at North West Houston Medical Center. I used Dr Xydas and his team(you'll likely meet different Drs on your appointment days, depending on who is on call. I was attended to by a total of 4 Drs).

I like the fact that they are so straight forward in their dealings. I got my zero balance as soon as I made full payment (before the baby was even born).

From the hospital I got some freebies : diapers, wipes, baby shirts, belly binder, baby formula and breast pump. This I think also depends on the nurses on call.

I'm expecting the final hospital balance by next week. Hopefully there won't be any extra charges.

For accommodation I'm staying with family but I noticed an Intown Suites a few minutes from the hospital.

I hope this helps. Thanks

Business / Re: GTB Mobile Money Transfer - How Secure Is It? by segbas(m): 8:27am On May 26, 2015
Is very secure, since it requires ur PIN. And if you lost ur bag you can report at any branch. Your account will be put on hold.
Is a way of making cashless policy work. If at all you do not subscribe to any internet. So far you have mobile phone and top up on it. You are good to go.

Hope it helps..

Tgirl4real:
I recently made use of GTB mobile transfer using the code #737#2 to transfer money to a First Bank account and the only security measure they had in place was to ask me to input the last 4-digits on my ATM card.

After a successful transaction, I wondered to myself if this platform is truly the "smartest" as they claim. Yea, it may be smart, but is it secure? What if I lose my bag containing my wallet (with my ATM cards) and mobile phones? Wouldn't the hoodlum be able to transfer money easily from my account to any account of his choice with no hassle before I can block the ATM?

This bothered me and I thought to share it here. I expect GTB to make this more secure by requesting for pin before money can be transferred.

What do you guys think?

I tire oo my brother, if you are working with any US company that is what they will ask from you and all OSHA accredited programs, If you have access to do any foreign program on HSE it is better my brothers..... am not saying getting accredited at home is not important, it is very very important but just to boost your CV and career all these foreign courses pays though it may cost you a lot, but my people you will get your money back in multiple folds...

Best of Luck to us all.

adeoye201:
you claim OSHAcademy is not accredited yet that is what we are using to work here in Qatar in addition to NEBOSH. I tire for una o

Whites...
I said over 2 years ago...
I dont knw their policy now. And I have not been flying them lately....
but mind you... no flight is free... your baby will either pay for a service or the other. My wife flew Emirate with our eight months old girl in April 2013. She had her own bad and 7kg hand luggage. While I paid just QR.220 as against her mum of QR. 2900 then. I dont know if the info is not correct now but as of then... very very correct.

But I think their layover fom flight from Nigeria is long for a pregy or a nusing mother..... dts should be the only concern.

Whites:

This information is not correct. An infant/ child under 2 years of age and who has not paid for a seat is only entitled to one piece checked in luggage. It's even clearly stated on Emirates Airlines website. This is as opposed to the 2 piece checked in bag allowance, so by all means not "normal baggage" allowance.
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 2 by segbas(m): 7:17pm On May 17, 2015
Your baby will have her own luggage as normal baggage..... my wife flew emirate to Doha, over 2 years now while our daughter was still an infant... she was given normal baggage....

akindolz:
Has anyone used Emirates in this baby birthing venture? I want to confirm if the baby is entitled to a checked-in luggage on the way back from America. ...pls help a sis out. I want to take 3 boxes wen going or I just stick to my 2 boxes which I'm entitled to as an individual....Standing by for ur responses pls

There is a place in the biodata page of his passport with Authority/Autorite. Whatever that is writen under it should be what he fills in his form.

Your passport must be at least 6 month to its expirarion day. You can renew ur passport before travelling you will just have to go with the new and old passport.

emeldamicheals:
Please, can someone assist me with this question asap. Can a nigerian travel to the US with a passport about to expire. The passport will expire in july. Can the person travel in june and stay for 3 weeks and come back before the 6th of july when the passport expires or does the person need to wait until after expiration of passport to renew it before travelling. I don't know if the whole 6 months validity of passport beyond intended stay applies to nigerians travelling to US. Anyone with experience..

@ Idileke1

Sorry for your denial,
I will advise you to work on the reason for your denial, from your post so far on this forum, you have applied twice, and being denied, this is the third time.
the first time, you lied about been pregnant and which is obvious according to you, and you said you are going to attend a wedding, secondly you are also been denied based on that you lied in your first application, and then you are going to attend a church conference in US with your family, from my own little knowledge it should be a group application since is a church program or never the less.

this time around you showed yourself of been desperate (sorry oo, dts how I see it,) by paying all your bills, and going by your past records, its shows desperation...

What I will advise now is that, plan very well, correct your mistakes, chance your hospital and get a doctor letter, and PRAY very well for God favor. Also you said your sister in-law told you about the hospital, which means, you never did any research or findings about the hospital..

please I pray for God Favour for you this time around..... Plan and Pray very well.

God Bless You. Amen

My dear.
If you know the benefit of being a western countries citizen. You will not be saying all you've listed above. I can see you only think of yourself not ur child future.

I live and work in middle east, Qatar to be precise. I work as HSE personel and I have so many collegues of mine that hold US, Canadian and US citizens. They earn more than double of what am earning with so many benefit. We hold d same certifications but due to Nationlity they were treated as advance countries citizen. And did you know the funniest part of it... some of them are Indians, Sri Lankas.

Please stop seeing this yankee thing with ur myopic eye.

please is the best you can give to ur children.

I am speaking from my experience.

God Bless Us all.

maternal:

Yes. Furthermore your child can study at any American University at the citizens rate, can live/work in America, can work in neighboring canada through the nafta agreement, can travel to 160 countries visa free, etc. His/her life would be a million times more prosperous

If you are using a smartphone, you can download Telbo at telbo.com. load it with minimum of $10. You can use it with ur data or wifi. The charges to Nigeria is 0.029cent per minutes. Hope it helps.
