@ Bluehorizo, you started this thread about a year and a half ago, Jan 17,2008, 12:52pm to be precise and ever since then, there has been 40,558 viewers , 2083 replies and still counting. It has been a thread subsribers share and get information on HITV. Why on earth are you posting a farewell message? You can as well correct me if I'm wrong, hope you are not putting an end to what you started 2 years ago. I joined HITV group on facebook but not as active as Hirubbish on Nairaland. We may think the management is making a big mistake but they may have strategies. Let's see how it goes, in 2 months time and when another season starts, we shall see how we(subscribers) and they( Hitv) survive.

Word.

Lets keep our fingers crossed. The forces of demand and supply will always decide the winner.

Guys,ki ni big deal?
Personally,i'm alright with the increment because it comes with an increased football content.for those that have a problem with football,you can decide to pay less.
Looks like a win-win situation to me.
Do me a favor all you guys on the compact bouquet of DSTV and ask the dudes on the full package why they spend that much for cable TV.
All i want is unrestricted access to the EPL and the champions league and i'm definitely sho i won't die a dull boy

@aieromon
Yes u are right, but the problem is, any CableTV's survival is based on the number of subscribers multiplied by monthly subscription minus payment for rights. I'm not saying everybody will dump HITV, but they need a minimum number of subscribers to be alive not to talk of making profit. Something similar is happening to Setanta Sports as we speak.

You can read about it here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/8090633.stm
TV/Movies / Re: HiTV Subscribers Question And Answer Forum by segundash(m): 7:14pm On Jun 08, 2009
It took me more than 2 month before I could decide on which of the two cable companies I will sign up with.

Firstly, I'm a football fan, but "Man must not live by Football alone", I need other things, especially entertainment, news (infact If I'm told to pay 2k per month for CNN alone, I'll gladly do that).

Secondly, I love documentaries, National Geographic, National Geographic Wild, Zone Reality etc.

So, I'm faced with choosing between Football (HiTV and ALL OTHERS (DsTV).

ALL OTHERS pays me more. Its value for my money.

Lastly, before I switched, I thought i'll die without football, but alas, I'm alive now and I'm even enjoying it more than then.

Don't get me wrong, I still watch football, but not all the matches, the important ones, I simply go to a viewing centre. There are a lot of decent viewing centres out there. Just ask around, you'll be amazed at how many are around your location.

Thanks all.

TV/Movies / Re: The Wire: Greatest Series Ever Made by segundash(m): 7:29am On Dec 31, 2008
Season 2 is my best season ever. It shows what goes on behind the curtains at various ports in the world. Its really a eye opener.

@doyin13

The reason a lot of people didn't see The Wire is because its not an ACTION based series like 24 or with too much suspense like other series. But me, I enjoyed every minute of it.

People this days just want to watch a movie/series just for fun, sometimes, nothing to learn, just FICTION.

I just hope people's perspective changes because if not, nobody will like to produce a series like The Wire in future.

I totally agree with you. Its more like a documentary. i.e. as if it really happened. Its very cool. No special effects, just good story, good actors. just 2 good,

Hi people, its been long since I came here but I'm happy a lot of improvement has been made on HiTV.

@Urfriend

I got the package Last year and paid for 1 year subscription, I don't really remember the actual date or month I subscribed, can u PLEASE help me find out? my smart card number is 017-1001-32-3-8

Also I tuned to a channel "NIGERIA" some weeks ago and saw information on how to add Fox News to the list of channels, I did that but a whole bunch of 60 channels were added, most of the channels are not active (locked or not just showing).

I also saw in this forum that there is a Sony channel being available, PLEASE can you tell me how to get it, I use a Strong Decoder.

If I want to pay for a year's subscription is there any discount and how much would I have to pay.

Also a friend is disturbing me about getting HiTV and wants to know the differences and advantages of Terrestrial over Satellite or vis-versa. I really can't answer the question but I know you'll be able to answer it correctly.

Hope my questions is not too much.

Thanks.

Computers / Re: Software For Playing Videos by segundash(m): 4:04pm On Dec 10, 2007
I use K-Lite Codec Pack. It is updated regularly (almost monthly), the current version is K-Lite Codec Pack 3.5.7 (Full). It can play every audio or video i've come across. You can get this and all codecs from http://www.free-codecs.com/.
TV/Movies / Re: My Letter To Hitv by segundash(m): 2:24am On Sep 05, 2007
Hi bros, take it easy o. I can feel u. Its been frustrating since they started though I must confess I am disappointed because I didn't expect them to advertise that they have about 15 channels and they only have about 5 or so.

But I think they rushed in, because they had to start broadcasting at the beginning of August because of Premiership, it is clear thats their problem because, they don't even have their own decoder, they have to use a generic decoder which is not comparable to DSTV's decoder.

I just hope they get it right very soon because its really confusing, nobody knows what's happening and nobody is saying anything from their end.
Computers / Re: Hibernate Or Turn Off? by segundash(m): 11:36pm On Aug 30, 2007
@ inze:

point of correction, the file size reserved for hibernation depends on the amount of physical memory (RAM) your computer has. in your case, your computer has 256mb ram. My computer has 1GB RAM and d reserved hard disk space for hibernation is 1,023 mb.

I'll want to point out that a lot of people confuse hibernation with standby. With standby, the system is still on, but most of the hardwares are shutdown to conserve power. But in hibernation, everything in memory (RAM) is saved to disk (hence the hibernation file size = RAM size) and the system shuts down completely.

So which hibernation, even if you leave the system for a year and come back, it will still work fine. The only problem I've encountered with hibernation is hardware compliance, not all hardware works well with hibernation. The system will shutdown properly but to resume is the problem. In the 90's PCChips motherboard have problem with hibernation but their current boards supports it.

I just want to know something? I'm subscribed to the Satellite. If the weather does not affect the hyper? dat much, why then should anyone go for the satellite. Sorry for my ignorance, I just need someone to explain the difference between the different platforms and also whats the advantages and disadvantages of one over the other.
TV/Movies / Re: HiTV's Programme Repetition Is Driving Me Crazy! by segundash(m): 10:23pm On Aug 30, 2007
I went to a small club (off awolowo way, ikeja), there were 2 TVs there, one showing DSTV, the other HiTV, when the weather changed, the HiTV started mis-behaving then stopped showing any picture but DSTV was still on without any destruption. I'm not here to complain about their service but just to point out that, they still need to do a lot of work to gain subscribers confidence.
