Sports / Re: Cote D'ivoire, Sudan, Burkina Faso, Angola : AFCON 2012 Group B by semid1(m): 12:47pm On Jan 16, 2012 |
ANGOLA AFCON History: Previous Appearances were in 1996, 1998, 2006, 2008, 2010 with their best performance was making it to the Quarter-finals in 2008 & 2010. How They Qualified For AFCON 2012: They qualified as Group J Winners. The Palancas Negras did not allow their 3-0 defeat against Uganda in the opener of their qualifying campaign to dash their hopes. The 2010 AFCON hosts picked themselves up against Guinea-Bissau in their second game, but lost again in their third match to eastern African side Kenya. In the final round, the Black Antelopes recorded a clean sheet against all three opponents to top the group on 12 points to qualify. Coach: The side is handled by Lito Vidigal. The former Angola defender is the fourth coach of the national team in the last 15 months. The 41-year-old has vast experience in Europe and he is the first African international to coach a European first division club. He spent most of his football and coaching career in Portugal. The former coach of Uniao Leiria has passed his first test, qualifying his side to the tournament finals and he is expected to shine in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. Squad Goalkeepers: Carlos (unattached), Hugo (Kabuscorp), Wilson (Primeiro Agosto) Defenders: Amaro (Primeiro Agosto), Dani Massunguna (Primeiro Agosto), Kali (Primeiro Agosto), Marco Airosa (AEL Limassol, Cyprus), Mingo Bille (Primeiro Agosto), Zuela (Atromitos, Greece) Midfielders: Andre Makanga (Al Jahra, Kuwait), Dede (AEL Limassol, Cyprus), Gilberto (Lierse, Belgium), Mabina, Miguel (both Petro Atletico), Osorio (Recreativo Caala), Xara (Petro Atletico) Forwards: Djalma (FC Porto, Portugal), Flavio (Lierse, Belgium), Jose Pierre Vunguidica (Preussen Munster, Germany), Love (Petro Atletico), Manucho (Real Valladolid, Spain), Mateus Galiano (Nacional, Portugal), Nando Rafael (FC Augsburg, Germany) Captain: The team is captained by Andre Macanga. The 33-year-old has been with the team since 1999 and was part of the squad that represented the oil-rich country at the World Cup in Germany 2006. His nickname 'The Defensive Lung' is a good description of a player who wards off his opponents to ensure that his goal is clear of danger. He comes with a great deal of experience and more will be expected from him. Star Player: Stand-out player of the squad is Manucho. The 28-year-old has been immense throughout the qualifying campaign and scored four of their seven goals. Manucho is not new to the tournament and is well known for scoring spectacular goals in the 2008 and 2010 editions. During his days at Manchester United, coach Sir Alex Ferguson described him as a "tall, agile, quick forward”. Young Talent: Djalma is the shinning new light of the Palanca Negras. The 24-year-old has featured in most of the games leading up to the AFCON finals in 2012. The Porto striker has been a perfect partner to Manucho in attack and could be a candidate for Young Player of the Tournament. Probable Starting XI: Lito Vidigal could opt in for the customary 4-4-2 formation, which seems to have worked well for the team in the past, relying on Manucho and Djalma to score with support from a packed midfield. (4-4-2) Carlos Francisco Zuela, Dany, Mingo Bile, André Macanga Dédé, Gilberto, Miguel Quiame, Mateus Djalma, Manucho |

C'mon guys. You'd get faster browsing and downloading speeds with a 7.2mbps modem than you'll get with a 3.6mbps modem. I use a 3.6mbps MTN Fastlink modem but I've tested a friends 7.2mbps Fastlink modem on my lapy and I've seen the difference. |

Funkymallam: Eeyah, I understand exactly what you're going thru'. . .funnily enough I didn't experience much of that problem. Major problem I experienced then was power (cos the laptops couldn't go more than 3hrs) and the printer ink. Hope you guys were provided with generator and fuel this time sha? It was 1k/day (heard it was more in some other states) then so how much a corper got at the end of the exercise depended on how many days he worked for. I was conscripted into the exercise in late October 2006 (thanks to my closeness to the CLO) and I worked through November to January. I actually worked for 91 days but INEC didn't keep records and when I was asked how many days I worked for, I just said 100 lol |
Politics / Re: Beyond Rhetoric, Have You Registered? by semid1(m): 1:33pm On Jan 16, 2011 |
voltron: It was exactly the same set up in 2007, NO DIFFERENCE!. A laptop with a detachable webcam (for taking facial photographs of registrants) and a fingerprint scanner (for capturing the thumprints of registrants) and a small printer for printing the voter's card. I actually thought it would be a different set-up with all the noise that was made about these new DDC Machines. |
Politics / Re: Beyond Rhetoric, Have You Registered? by semid1(m): 8:12am On Jan 16, 2011 |
Corp members backing out from the exercise? I laugh in boko haram If I made a pricely N100,OOO from this same exercise in 2007, I can imagine how much a Youth Corper stands to make now. Those that did "association almanac" runs in connivance with agents of local politicians even made more. Even then, only a few Corpers were selected in my local government and the rest were busy scheming and lobbying to be included. The mentality hasn't changed and I'm sure most will see it as a chance to "hammer". The average corper is too money conscious to pull out. In fact, what I hear is that Corpers are protesting their exclusion and the use of indigenes in some places. Meanwhile, y'all should go out and register cos failure to do so will mean someone snapping a face from a calendar almanac, giving it fictitious details (name, age, occupation bla bla bla) & filling up the manual registration log book for some extra kishi. |

Samir101ng on the Strictly Internet Screenshot thread in the Computer Section uses a 7.2mbps modem. That's partly responsible for the very high download speeds he gets. Most modems out there are the 3.6mbps modems sha |

Is Apam Onyekachi injured cos I don't understand the rationale for not inviting him? He's our best central defender in my opinion and his partnership with Adeleye is the best for our defence. Although I'm pissed about the exclusion of Kalu Uche, Victor Anichebe and Sanni kaita, I'm particularly happy about the invitation of Obiora Nwankwo, Victor Moses and Bartholomew Ibenegbu. I would have loved Abduljeleel Ajagun and Ramon Azeez to be in the team too but I guess they can't play for U-21 and Super Eagles at the same time I'm sure Sia-1 will invite more home-based players into the team after the Obama Invitational in February. All in all, a good list and big revolution indeed. |
