Travel / Re: U.S. Non-immigrant Visas: We’re Listening by sheguru(f): 5:32am On Jul 16, 2017
Hello, wish to ask this on behalf of my younger sister and hubby. They applied for renewal of visa by Dropbox, her current visa was meant to expire October but she intended travelling November which was why she applied for a renewal in the first place. There was no other communication from the consulate only that their passports returned and the visa has been stamped "cancelled without prejudice" and no new one was issued. What caused the cancellation and why were they not invited for interview? These are the questions puzzling everyone, She's intrigued and wants to know what they are expected to do or can do about getting her visa. Should she re apply and pay again then schedule for an interview?
Please guide them accordingly.

JewelStone:
Hi guys, it's been such a long time I dropped by, I forgot my login details and never had the time to reset the password until now. I would like to share my brief experience, to help those who are planning to come to this great country.

I came in 6 months ago and settling down in Sydney wasn't too difficult for me, because I did my homework well and knew what I was expecting in terms of cost of living and job opportunities. I got a house on gumtree.com.au, my friends helped me tidy my resume, I applied to lots of jobs through seek.com.au, and was lucky to get 2 jobs within my first 3 weeks, so I got to choose the best. I did Cert IV in Disability, and I've been working in the Disability Sector and it's awesome. I also changed my course from Master of Accounting to Bsc Nursing.

Some key points to note:
1. Come through PR or scholarship if you can, the school fees is pure extortion
2.Choose Sydney if you can. It's an awesome city with heaps of opportunities, you'll be tired of jobs. I'm not sure about other cities though.
3. Come with some money that can sustain you for a while cos you don't know when you'll get a job. Not everyone is lucky to get a job as soon as they arrive, and I've seen Naija students live here like church rats cos they came with no plan and expected money to fall from trees as soon as the landed.
4. If you want to get a good job after studies, choose your course carefully. Just because a course can give you PR doesn't mean it can give you jobs upon graduation, except you want to work minimum wage jobs all your life. Accounting/finance is one of the most useless courses here, it's only on PR list cos of the revenue it generates, especially from Asian students, don't make that mistake
5. Disability sector is massive with numerous jobs, get your certificate as soon as you arrive if it's your kind of thing, you'll make enough money to cover your bills. Don't bother about aged care cos the pay is shitty and the job more stressful.
6. Nursing is life, you'll never lack jobs and the pay is excellent. IT is so so, cos too many Indians have infiltrated the field.
7. As a student, you can't work full time or part time; only casual and casual jobs pay higher cos you can't get paid holidays etc. And for casual jobs, Aussies don't care much about degree (there are exceptions of course), job experience is bae, so fix your resume as soon as you arrive.
8. Cost of living is the only negative but the high wages make up for that.
9. Sydney is bae. Endless beaches and parks, great restaurants and bars if you like fine dining like I do, rivers and lakes for nature lovers; the list is truly endless. Makes the high cost of living worth it.
10. Coming to Australia is the best decision I have ever made and I love my life here.

For ladies, fake Naija guys will be all over you as soon as they know you're new, use your brain and don't fall for bullshit, take your time and don't let anyone rush you. If you like dating other races and you're good looking, Aussie men like African girls, you'll have decent men hitting on you, then you'll get to choose the best. Take care of yourself and look sharp even before you leave Naija.

Hi, my Babysis is about applying for bsc nursing in WSU, she graduated 3 years ago with b.ed health and physical education but passionate about nursing, can we connect with you to get direct Infos? I will PM you

Thank You, my only sadness about B.Y Mafit and registering with them is that I don't reside in Lagos thus I would be missing the lectures. Hope I can pull off the TOEFL sincee it's internet based and am slow in typing.

Thanks again acumen!! Your post was of tremendous help.

is dis a good news or bad one. I just submitted my advisory assessment yesterday and saw this this morning.

https://www.vetassess.com.au/skills-assessment-for-migration/advisory-service

Advisory Service
Effective 01 September 2016 Advisory Service is no longer available
In anticipation of the new Skill Assessment Support Service available from October 2016, we are advising customers that we will no longer be taking Advisory Service enquiries from 5pm (AEST) on 31 August 2016. Fully lodged Advisory Service enquiries received prior to this date will not be affected and will be processed as normal.

Based on business improvement initiatives and customer feedback received for our current Advisory Service for general professional occupations, VETASSESS is pleased to announce the launch of Skills Assessment Support service commencing October 2016. The new service aims to provide tailored support to applicants/agents on how to submit a decision-ready application to VETASSESS. The two new replacement service will include:
(1) step-by-step document checking support in completing a VETASSESS skills assessment application; and/or
(2) understanding the Australian context for a nominated occupation assessed by VETASSESS.

Further details about this new service will be announced shortly. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we facilitate this transition.

At least you've submitted. I will have to wait till Oct to know what this new service is all about. I pray vetassess will show more leniency on our bachelor's degree. It's proving quite cumbersome for a self employed mother of 3 like me to gather my proof of employment, Vetassess ain't encouraging at all!!!

Nice one!

How long did it take to get all the required documents in Cali?

The birth cert took 20days to be ready
The American passport took exactly 2 weeks on expedited and she's has sent her docs to Tanko and waiting for Nigerian visa.

Thanks TheLeakyTribe

Did you finally made the move?

No, Fake Visas are soo rampant and the agents are quoting 450k- 600k per person for the visa. The main thing is how sure are my that it will be the REAL thing!! You will need to go to their embassy personally to make enquiries and then apply, that's when you can be SURE...
For now, am checking out other options.

Please guys, I asked a question some pages back (exactly page 187). Its rather a long post so don't want to copy and paste it again.

Summarily, am asking if my bsc sociology will be considered as equivalent to Australia bachelor degree by Vetassess?

So has anyone's 4years bachelor degree from nig gotten such positive assessment from Vetassess. Please help me guys with this issue.

NB: St Augustine, its just a delay!! Gird your loin and make headway!! It will work out in your next app.

Forgot to add my DH's profile;
Age- 37
Education- OND public administration 2001
Occupation- Self- employed since before he got his OND (wholesaler)

We have the same anzsco code but he has more years of experience.

I plan taking my PTE-A Feb latest.
Travel / Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by sheguru(f): 2:30pm On Dec 29, 2015
Hi all, As a family of 5. We are weighing all options to see which will suit us. My profile is thus:
Age- 32 ( by may 2016)
Education- bsc sociology ( UNIZIK graduated 2006)
Got married 2007 and joined my Hubby's biz- Wholesaler ( company is registered).

Now ave researched alot for different countries in my quest for a dual citizenship for my 3 children, Australia or Canada has always been my best option and having a large family and needing huge finances, I had to eliminate study route. In my research for Aussie P.R, my occupation is in CSOL list (anzsco code- 133312 ie wholesaler) with vetassess as the assessing body. This is where it gets a bit confusing for me and will need the experts in P.R ( NNBB2012, scrollmeout and others) to help me better understand this details below according to Vetassess;

""This occupation requires a qualification which is assessed as comparable to the educational level of an AQF Bachelor degree or higher degree, in a field highly relevant to the nominated occupation.

In addition to this, applicants must have at least one year of post-qualification employment at an appropriate skill level completed in the last five years which is highly relevant to the nominated occupation. If employment is not post-qualification, then five additional years of highly relevant employment are required.

If the degree is not in a highly relevant field, three years of employment at an appropriate skill level completed in the last five years in a field which is highly relevant to the nominated occupation is required. This is reduced to two years if there is an additional qualification at least at AQF Diploma level in a highly relevant field.

A positive assessment of both qualifications and employment is required for a positive Skills Assessment Outcome"".

Will I get a positive assessment if assessed?

Am conversant with the site, I had clicked on it before I found out its Kevin Porter's site. He's a man, an american who relocated to Brazil with his whole family and his wife gave birth there. I have lots of email communication with him personally and might use his help but that is when I enter Brazil. What am looking for is a Nigerian who have gotten the Brazil visa from Nigeria and has gone to brazil so the person can give me details on visa application and point of entry stories like they do in the U.S thread.

you would have to speak Portuguese and go to the gov sites for that.... but even the information you will find there is not accurate. as much as there is a law about the issue, it will all depend on the immigration officer or attendant at the cartorio, because everyone have their own definition of the law.

Wooww, ohhkk so its back to seeking out a reliable cost effective agent then.

Thanks cutesammie for your replies, how long did it take from when you paid for the 64pages till when it became ready for collection? Ave made payments

My wife was also in this same situation. Yes, you can opt for the 64 pages (nothing like 65). If you read my post, you will see that we opted for the 64 pages but they found it difficult to do due to some technical problems. They were able to resolve the problem later and it was possible to print the 64 pages. However, we paid extra for the 64 pages and the passport came out yesterday.

What you need to do is to contact your agent and tell him or her that you want them to issue a 64 page instead. The agent will tell you how much you will pay extra. I won't advice you to continue waiting for the 32 page leaflet, unless you don't need your passport urgently. That is my 2 cent. All the best.

How much were you charged extra? I just did that and am being charged like 25k?

IF ITS A NEWW PASSPORT, YOU JUST COME DOWN TO NIS OFFICE. WHEN COMING, GET A GUARANTOR (THIS IMPLIES THE DATA PAGE OF THE PERSON PASSPORT AND NAT I.D OR DRIVERS LICENSE). BUT IF RENEWAL JUST COME WITH THE OLD PASSPORT, MAKE UR OFFICIAL PAYMENT OF 24,500 FOR 64 PAGES AND GET UR APPROVAL. BANGGG!!! THE PROCESS JUST STARTED. BUT HAVE UP TO 35K AND U ARE GOOD TO GO. . .

My passport is already at their abuja h/q office for some months now and its for a renewal. My question ave already paid for 32pages but since it's not available can I opt for the 65 pages? What's involved to make it happen?

LasoulMacuby:

FIRST THE PRESIDENT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH SIGNING ANY PASSPORT BOOKLET, THE PROBLEM IS THAT OFF LOGISTICS. THE BOOKLETS ARE NOT PRINTED IN NIGERIA, AND NOT EVEN BY IMMIGRATION, BUT ITS TECHNICAL PATNERS CALLED IRISH. YOU WERE NOT INFORMED PROPERLY ELSE YOU WOULD HAVE GONE FOR THE 64 PAGES. ITS JUST A DIFFERENCE OF 5K

So what if one needs the passport urgently and wants to get the 65 pages, what needs to be done?

If people living there can talk about what's obtainable then it will spur interests.

Plenty questions is what people have now and since they are getting little answers their interest wanes.
