Actually, I meant the other guy who was saying american football is dumb and reminds him of fat americans and cheeseburgers.

So your complaint about american football is its not about endurance? Of course your wrong as it takes endurance to run in pads throughout the game but if sports were all about how long you could do one thing, I gues that makes crosscountry and skiing and swimming the best sports ever, right? Wrong. Endurance isn't the only thing that makes a great sport and if that's all soccer is, y have a ball?

ThiefOfHearts:

lol so it's ok for Americans to call "soccer" a "sissy" sport yet when we show to them that if anything it's their own fake version of football that is the one that requires all the protective gear in the world then it's not ok?
I still have yet to see where someone called soccer "sissy" in this thread. Actually the people who've mentioned soccer have said they respect it they just like football better. Its the people who talk about American football that are disrespectful about it.

And american football and soccer have VERY little in common except both have balls. Maybe if we all open up our minds a little we can understand that there are things to be appreciated in BOTH games. Just because you don't prefer one over the other doesn't make the other "sissy" or bad.

ThiefOfHearts:

again shsonline, rugby players do the same with each other and you don't see them wearing protective nonsense.
They arent lard asses either

Rugby is a tough guy sport, I agree. But were we talking about rugby? NFL football and rugby are two of the most dangerous sports, and just in case you didn't know, they didn't used to play with helmets and pads, its an evolution of the game as people got bigger, stronger, and faster and the injuries mounted, it became necessary. Since when does wearing gear to save your life make you a sissy, anyway? That's just silly. You'd rather not wear a bullet proof vest when you're a cop, or not buckle your seatbelt when you drive? Wearing protective gear does not make what you do sissy, it just makes you smart.

This topic is so funny. Men, I used to be an extreme lover of soccer. Like wow, my family was even getting scared at my love of the game. Then, all of a sudden, i moved to the fast past world of america and my life made a 360. I love FOOTBALL, the game is so amazing. In my opinion, it is more entertaining than soccer, something is always going on, either the qb just threw an interception, Defensive lb just sacked the qb, punt returned for td, or the game is on the line and you need the kicker to make a 60 yard field goal for the win. Something is always going on. Unlike soccer where they just keep passing the ball and turning it over and over for 90mins. Since i discovered football, its been ver difficult for me to enjoy my first love.

She just made a VERY good point. There is ALWAYS something going on in an american football game. It is very involved. And once again, people, there's a reason they wear helmets. It's not cuz they're skinny little guys that headbutt each other running up and down the field.

Attagirl, reggie bush! You do know your football! Some of these people I bet are like "reggie who?" The only reason I had to make my points about american football is cuz yall had to start dissin it and sayin it was "gay" and "for sissies". I couldn't let that slide. I understand if you like soccer becuz its the"worlds sport" but that doesn't mean usa football isn'tas exciting. Its a religion here

I understand what some of you are saying but some of you it seems are hating just because you've never actually watched it or don't know the rules. I KNOW the rules of soccer, and I do follow the English clubs occasionally but its not the same fun. No one gets knocked the f out in soccer. Christian okoye aka The Nigerian Nightmare, who in soccer could be feared enough to earn a nickname like that

Donzman:

lol @ American Football

A 48 minute game, 36 minutes is spent rolling on the floor after a run, jumping up and down after a tackle and gathering for team discussions. You only get 12 minutes of action on a lucky day, play is stopped after every 5 seconds.

How can a 48 minute game last 3 hours and you expect any human being to enjoy it?. . .The game is far from free flowing and the players are one dimensional.

@shsonline

How demanding can football be when the players cannot pass a standard test of stamina in either soccer or basketball?. . .They have different sets of players for offense and defense who spend 6 minutes at most in action on every given day.
Soccer players run, jump, kick, head, chest, fall and stand up for 90 minutes, now that is demanding. We play pick-up soccer here, the varsity football guys cannot even run around for 5 minutes without panting like SISSIES.

I'll tell you how demanding, these are not just little kids, these are the largest, most muscular, physically gifted men in the country smashing and pounding against each other and running into each other at track and field like speeds. They are catching balls thrown at baseball speeds and trying not to get pounded and killed at the same time. They have to throw accurately, turn at the drop of the dime, and run against 11 opposing players who all want to just smack you around and take the ball away from you. There is a mental game. There are 8-12 coaches per team. Obviously if it wasn't mental, there would be no need for multiple coaches. Any team has a chance to win. Its not like soccer where all the good players go to one team or the highest bidder. There's no Barcelona or Chelsea like in soccer. Any team can outcoach and outplay any other team on a given day, but the best team does it by being consistent and sometimes lucky. Which means ITS COMPETITIVE!

Like I said, I respect soccer players. But being able to run up and down on a field and kick a ball into a net is not comparable to all the things I mentioned. Don't believe that American football is harder than soccer? Take an expert from a group of olympic committee members word for it:

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/sportSkills

And to whoever called American football players obese, Larry Allen, the strongest man in the NFL can lift 900 lbs (400 kg). Just because the men are big doesn't mean they are "obese". imagine a man who could lift 400 kg running into you and tell me that's a sissy sport.
Sports / Re: American Football Is Better Than Soccer! by shsonline(m): 3:50am On Feb 28, 2007
I just mentioned him because he's like the best defensive player in the league, and there are many others, you can google it. I just don't understand why you would diss a game that is dominated by blacks and is the most popular game in the states
Sports / Re: American Football Is Better Than Soccer! by shsonline(m): 3:27am On Feb 28, 2007
Have you even watched an nfl game? There's a reason they wear helmets and pads not just for decoration. When people have died or broken their necks playing a sport, its not sissy. I guarantee you the best soccer player in the world would get their butt kicked in a fight with the best nfl player. And why diss nfl when so many nigerians play in it? Look up "Adawale Ogunleye" and tell me he's a sissy
Sports / Re: American Football Is Better Than Soccer! by shsonline(m): 2:41am On Feb 28, 2007
Espn did a study on all sports according to which sport takes the most mental ability, stamina, muscle strength, uses the most body parts and body coordination. Boxing was the most athletically demanding sport, followed by american football.

And who said soccer was for sissys? I respect the best soccer players, they obviously have talent. (thierry henrys my boy) but american football>>>soccer.

First of all let me say I'm american. (dad from liberia). Second of all let me say I LOVE american football! I was born and raised to love it and it is a lot more complicated than soccer. Some of you say it takes no skill, but why would you say this? There is a reason that american football is the second most demanding sport besides boxing in the world
Music/Radio / Re: Heather Headley:in My Mind by shsonline(m): 7:14pm On Mar 26, 2006
Yeah, Adriana Evans,

I'm like a music-LovePeddler because I'm always lookin' for good stuff to listen to. I tend to not listen a ton to the radio because there's too much talent out there and the radio only covers like 5% of the real music out there. I came across Adriana Evans accidentally browsing around and I swear she's got a voice like an angel. Her music's real positive, so I usually listen to her if I've listened to too much hip hop (yes, you CAN listen to too much hip hop).

If you like Heather Headley, check out Adriana Evans, check out a song called 7 days (one of my favorite).
TV/Movies / Re: America's Next Top Model by shsonline(m): 7:18am On Mar 15, 2006
Yeah, I know what you're saying. Models are overrated. I wish some women would stop trying to look like them. Maybe if models looked more like Naomi Campbell I would care more about em.
Music/Radio / Re: Heather Headley:in My Mind by shsonline(m): 6:36am On Mar 15, 2006
Oh my GOD, somebody else knows about Heather Headley around here?

Man, that girl can blow!!!!!!!!!! I feel you on that, although I like her first CD better. You should check out Adriana Evans if you like Headley. Another relative unknown that deserves to be on top. She has the voice of an angel.
TV/Movies / Re: America's Next Top Model by shsonline(m): 6:26am On Mar 15, 2006
Is it just me or does anybody else think that these girls aren't really all that? I know women at my job that look better than some of them, but whatever.
Music/Radio / The Future Of Hip Hop And R&b: Good Or Bad? by shsonline(m): 6:20am On Mar 15, 2006
Looking at the "popular" stars of hip hop and R&B, I have to say this is tough. There are so many nontalented artists dominating the industry and flooding the radio with less than good music (in my opinion, anyway).

Here are the artists I look to save hip hop, which I think is suffering from stale, wannabe hard rappers/people who got shot but have no poetic talent:
1) Big Brother-I don't know if they'll make it, since they are sort of unknown, but they have the skill to be another TribeCalledQuest
2)Game/Camron-these two at least are innovative and I love listening to what they have to say. Great production and still young.
3)TI-I think he is the face of hip hop right now, definitely a skilled poet, but he needs stronger beat production if hes going to be king.

R&B looks a little better I think, although most radio stations just play the crazydancing little kids that don't really know what real soul music is:
1)Alicia Keys-Still keepin' it real, even after commercial success
2)Adriana Evans-Still an unknown, she is bound to blow up eventually
3)Jaheim- Another old-school boy that can actually sing. Few male singers still keep it real like him without dancing around little girls.
4)Ne-Yo-A young cat that shows you don't have to be a crazy dancer to make good music.
5)Keyshia Cole- I'm still not sold on her, but a debut album that is anything but ordinary. She definitely has one of the best female R&B voices out right now.

What do you all think?
Celebrities / Re: Dr Dre Vs Eminem Vs Fifty Cent :who Is The Best by shsonline(m): 6:11am On Mar 15, 2006
Dre Dre sucks as a rapper, he is more suited to producing. Fiddy USED to be good, but now he sucks too (in white america hes still popular but has lost respect with real hip hop fans because of his lack of talent and beefs). Eminem, ehhhhhhh, hes okay, but he just says the same old shit in his songs and hes getting old. I don't care for him much, but of all the three at least he has the most talent though.

TV/Movies / Whos Big In Nigeria Right Now? by shsonline(m): 6:00am On Mar 15, 2006
I'm just wondering who my brothas and sistas are feelin over the seas. Sound off on who you guys think are doing it real big on TV, the movies and on the radio? Also, who do you guys think is going to be the next big thing?

My picks:
TV-24 is my favorite show right now, I'm still waiting for Dave Chapelle to return. And yes, I'm guilty of watching American Idol sometimes.
Movies-Man, I think Jamie Foxx and Terrance Howard are really doing big things now. It's about time talented black actors got some good work in Hollywood.
Music-As far as hip hop, I really don't see who can touch T.I. right now. If you don't know about this guy you need to get on things. Also on the RandB tip, have you guys ever heard of Adriana Evans? Now THATS a musician. Supertalented, thats all I can say. I'm also feelin' Heather Headley.

Your turn,
Romance / Re: Do Handsome Men Cheat More? by shsonline(m): 5:33am On Mar 15, 2006
Well, in a word, YEAHHHHHHH.

But so do good-looking women. I mean, of course it depends on the person, of course, but just think about it, if you can get with more women or men and you dont want to be with the person you are with, most likely you are going to cheat unless you just break it off.
Family / Re: What If A Girl Proposes Marriage To You? by shsonline(m): 5:14am On Mar 15, 2006
Sam here in the US,

Unheard of, if it ever did happen, it would probably be received with a no, unless the girl was some sort of celebrity or something. It's just not normal tradition, at least not here in the States. Is it any different there?
