roolnaado:
Saudi Arabia has shifted to the Gregorian or "Western" calendar as a basis for paying civil servants as part of an austerity package. The kingdom adopted the lunar Islamic calendar when it was founded in 1932.

The birthplace of Islam containing Mecca - Islam's holiest site - shifted to the Western Gregorian calendar on Sunday, bringing the oil-rich kingdom in line with many of its energy customers. The Islamic lunar calendar is actually 11 days shorter than the 365-day solar year, which will actually save the kingdom money by cutting salary days for many public servants. It's part of a larger series of cost-cutting measures recently imposed that includes cancelling some bonuses offered to state employees and hiking fees for entry visas for foreign visitors and residents.

Millions of Muslims from around the globe visit Saudi Arabia annually as part of the Hajj pilgrimage to Islam's holiest sites.
Saudi King Salman has also ordered a 20-percent cut in salaries for civil servants and a 15-percent reduction in financial perks for the kingdom's advisory Shura Council as part of far-reaching economic reforms. The world's top oil exporter, Saudi Arabia has seen decreasing revenues since oil prices have been in decline since 2014 as OPEC nations maintain robust output amidst static demand.

I think you need to explain the bold part, cos I do not know El-Kanemi is an Igbo Language hence the Club is from either SE or SS!

When 3SC was representing, where is Enyimba, Ifeanyi Uba FC and Rivers United?! Let me briefly enlighten you Kid..... Gabros was bought and the Name changed to Ifeanyi Uba FC. Can you mention how many Trophies won by Gabros?! Rivers United is an amalgamation of Sharks and Dolphins respectively, do I need to inform you the reason for the Amalgamation?! It's simply because one of the Clubs was disgraced and ousted from the Nigeria Premier League!

Enyimba came into spotlight in the 20th Century Lad! Hence it's far below the success Shooting Stars of Ibadan - the Oluyole Warriors - have recorded as far as domestic League and Competitions are concerned!

Meanwhile I won't let your tribal bigotry to disrupt this Thread...... a big Congratulation to Rangers! It's a Victory well deserved. I hope they represent Nigeria well in the next Africa Champions League!

bro why are you lieing? you can never compare shooting stars and Enyimba in terms of success. shooting star is far behind Enyimba both in Nigeria and Africa at large.

lets call a spade a spade, the only team that can challenge Enyimba in terms of success is Kano pillars, rangers, sharks and dolphin of old.

for the record, no other Nigerian club has won a continental trophy aside Enyimba and Rangers. #fact.

is it my fault that they dont have another langauge, if ikwerres dont have any other langauge they should form a new one.

as long as ikwerres still speak Igbo and answer Igbo name, then their Igbo denying is exercise in futility.

You must be an English man since you speak and write English. Now you can travel to UK without visa since speaking English has made you a British national

you have a low intelligent quocient.

England colonised Nigeria includind Igbos, that is why Igbos speak English and have English names.

now, why should Ikwerres speak Igbo and bear Igbo names like chibuike amaechi, nyesom wike, omeihe, odili, amadi, dike etc., did Igbos colonise them ?

For the topic, Ikwerres should drop Igbo names and langauge if they are serious in denying Igbo, they should stop forcing Igboness on themselves by creating unnecessary thread.

In central Igbo, utobo/otobo is the word for hippopotamus borrowed by the Ijaws. Owu is also an Igbo word which refers to mermaid, borrowed by the Ijaws. Akpa is a core Igbo word borrowed by the Ijaws from Igbo. The 'kp' double consonant in the word makes it clear where the word comes from, which is almost lacking in Ijaw language. Just because you were born into a time when these words were already being used in Ijaw lingua franca does not take away the fact that they were borrowed or adopted from Igbo decades or centuries before you were born.

Now you only disputed 4 words out of a word list of over 24 words that I gave you, meaning 20 words are undisputedly Igbo. Now please can you tell me why Ijaws speak Igbo words? Maybe they were descended from Igbos, huhhh??

Quit dodging my question and answer me young man.

thumbs up bro, you are doing a nice job.

Culture / Re: How Yoruba Language Originated From Urhobo Language by sirade(m): 9:38pm On Sep 28, 2016
Ruke1989:
The word, "yoruba" was not known to mankind until the colonial period. The present inhabitants of the south west were simply living in the western side of Benin Kingdom. The Benin Kingdom has long history and did trade with the Portuguese as far back as 16th century. The earliest map of AFRICA captured the benin empire but didn't recognize any other empire in the West of Benin.

Yoruba language uses words like omo(child), ikuta(stone), alibosa(onion), akamu, otor(ground), among countless other words which you find in urhobo, benin and Ibo languages. This tells us about the history of the yoruba people. if you ever wondered why the yoruba language shared similar words with many other Nigerian languages, worry no more. The answer is here.

The yoruba up to the late 18th century when the colonial masters invaded Africa were not known by the common name "yoruba". They were simply called bush people. This is because they are situated in the western forests. The oba of Benin often sent his warriors to invade the western forests and capture slaves which were often sold off to the white men ie slave dealers in exchange for a piece of clot or iron. This is why you have millions of yorubas in Brazil, Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean countries. Up till today, the yoruba have never appreciated or acknowledged our effort. You can relate this story better if you have read the book on "Samuel Ajay crowther". Just one of those bush men captured back then. Also if you remember the history of Olumo rock. That's why yoruba people reverence that rock because any time warriors from Benin struck, some managed to hide there.

Fortunately or unfortunately, some of the bush men (now known as Yoruba) eventually captured from bush to the city(ie Benin). They get to learn urhobo, Benin and Ibo languages there under their masters. After which a number of them escape again into the south western bushes. That is the reason you see a trace of urhobo, Benin, Ibo and even hausa in the modern day yoruba language. The hausa components may have been introduced by escapee slaves from Kwara axis Fulani Emirate.

hahahaha omonnakoda where are you.

this thread promised to be complex, educative and hilarious.

mod frontpage, abeg.
