TB Joshua rescues stranded Nigerian deportees from Libya, splashes N6m (Photos)

June 17, 2016
Nigerian Prophet, T.B. Joshua, has splashed N6m ($30,000) on over a hundred Nigerian deportees who arrived from Libya on the evening of Thursday 16th June, 2016.

According to media reports, 162 Nigerians were deported from the North African nation with the aid of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in collaboration with the Swiss government and the Nigerian Embassy in Libya.

However, rather than return home, 107 decided to ‘seek refuge’ at The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations (SCOAN), the popular Lagos-based church of T.B. Joshua.

According to a post on Joshua’s official Facebook Page, after feeding the dishevelled and frail-looking Nigerians who arrived at the church late in the night, the sum of N50,000 was given to each of them alongside a bag of rice.

“Let me be honest with you, if not for this gift from T.B. Joshua, I had the plan of joining the militants in the Niger Delta,” admitted Friday, a returnee from Delta State, who fell to his knees in gratitude after receiving the gift.

The deportees explained to this reporter that most of them had been surviving by doing menial jobs in the war-torn nation before being arrested and imprisoned.

“We came back with nothing but the clothes on our backs which were given to us by United Nations officials,” said Michael, an Edo State indigene who had been in Libya for nearly ten months, washing cars for a living while nursing the hope of reaching Europe one day.

Arrested in February for staying illegally, Michael endured several months in a Libyan prison before the insufferable conditions of the prisoners attracted the attention of United Nations officials who procured their eventual release.

“I was thinking of how I was going to start my life again,” he admitted. “Many of us would have ended up in crime if not for this gift.”

Upon arrival, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) provided transportation vehicles for the returnees to their respective states along with a gesture of N10,000 by the Swiss government.

However, the majority chose to seek help from Joshua, who is famed for his extensive humanitarian gestures.

“We decided to come to The SCOAN because we know how Prophet T.B. Joshua has been helping people around the world,” Michael explained, referring to multiple other occasions where Joshua has rendered assistance to Nigerian deportees.

“I can only thank the man of God. Which other Nigerian could have done this for us at such a time in this country?”he tearfully pondered, decrying the muted response from the Nigerian government to their plight.

According to Collins, the young Nigerian had no intention to traverse Libya. Wild promises from a ‘friend’ of a glamorous life in Europe lured him away from a stable job in Abuja, not knowing that the European dream would lead him to a Libyan dungeon.

The fantasy turned to a nightmare as Libyan police broke into the commune where he was residing with dozens of other Nigerians en-route to a ‘better life’ abroad that never materialised.

“We are not here to blame or accuse the Libyan government,” he stated, recounting the inhumane conditions he endured in prison in which several of his colleagues died.

One of the deportees hobbled to the church on crutches.“I had a serious motor accident shortly after arriving to join my wife in Libya,” he narrated. “I have been in pain ever since but I thank God for using Prophet T.B. Joshua to wipe our tears away today.”

Joshua, who recently celebrated his 53rd birthday on June 12th 2016, also assisted Nigerian deportees who returned from Libya earlier this year, as well as aiding Nigerians returned from South Africa last month.

Religion / Synagogue Saga: Hoteliers Lament At Loss Of Billions by SisuluPe: 11:31am On Jun 02, 2016
Hoteliers in Ikotun area of Lagos State are currently bemoaning their loss due to low occupancy rate in most of the hotels.
According the hoteliers, since the Synagogue Church of All Nations accident and the consequent disagreement with the Lagos State government, the hotels have lost over N3.9 billion revenue.

Speaking to journalists, the hoteliers under the aegis of Pilgrims Hostels Association of Nigeria, said the total number of bed spaces of different categories for all the hotels in the Ikotun area stands at about 3500.
Before the accident, the hotels had 100 per cent occupancy rate in three days of every week due to the programmes in the church. The occupancy rates currently fluctuate between 10 per cent and zero all week long.
According to them, what this meant was that in these three days, instead of having their normal 3500 bed spaces sold, they could only boast of 350 rooms occupied.

Speaking further on the issue, one of the hoteliers, Chief Jerry Omoridion said, “We have been crying for a long time and the government does not seem to understand our plights. It is a serious issue for us because our means of sustenance is currently being wiped out. Before the unfortunate incident at the Synagogue Church of All Nations, cumulatively, we have a total of about 3500 hotel bed spaces. I am not adding some of these hotels there were in the process on coming on board but had to stop since the accident.

“The hotels have different categories of rooms, but for you people to understand the enormity of our lost, let me peg the room rates at just N5,000, that is the cheapest room rate in any decent hotel in Ikotun. Before the accident, we were having 100 per cent occupancy rate on at least three days in a week, this may sound unbelievable. You are members of the press, go round and do your investigations. But now, the occupancy rate in these three days is less than 10 per cent. Many of my colleagues have reduced their staff to the barest minimum; some of us are doing the jobs we used to employ and pay workers to do, since we can’t afford to employ now due to bad business climate.
“With a 10 per cent occupancy rate only about 350 rooms are sold by our members every night. Many had zero occupancy severally. What it means is that 3150 empty rooms, at N5,000 minimum per night, we are losing about N15,750000 per night. In a month the lost is put at N189,000000. If the figure is multiplied by 21 months, you have a whooping N3,969,000,000 as lost of revenue. This is just a conservative estimate. Think about the multiplier effect on the economy of the area. You can understand why we are shouting loudly. I am just talking about three days that we were sure of patronage.”

Asked what he was expecting the government to do since the case was already in court, Omorodion cuts in: “Look, this is a tourist destination. No area in Nigeria has a steady inflow of inbound tourists like Ikotun in Lagos. Go and do your research. Let me digress, I want you to go to the airport cab operators find out how this has affected their business.
“We insist that the government should understand that being a destination, all over the world, when there is accident, they should put in machineries to get to the root of the accident, take punitive action where necessarily without portraying the destination as unsafe and also overtly discouraging people from visiting there. Like the stampede in Saudi Arabia on September 24, 2015, more than 2000 pilgrims lost their lives. The country, knowing the importance of religious tourists, took necessary steps and quietly moved ahead. The Synagogue accident happened on September 12, 2014, since then we have been deprived of our livelihood due to the hostile signals from the government.

“As a country, we should be able to learn from those that know better than us. Let us borrow a leaf from other countries and learn how they manage crisis at a tourist destination. They manage in a way that ensures the safety of the lives and properties of tourists without harming the destination. What can of business do they expect us to go into?”
He explained that the figure he gave was just from the hospitality industry, by the time other ancillary business in Ikotun that depend on tourists add up their figures, the lost would be much more than this.
Omorodion called on the government to take a second look at the current impasse as regards the Synagogue Church and create better atmosphere for tourism to grow.

Ikotun, a Lagos suburb, is the host community to the Synagogue Church of All Nations. The community has become a tourist destination to many local and inbound tourists.
Christian pilgrims come from all over the world to worship at the church with about two million local and inbound tourists visiting annually.

Politics / SCOAN BUILDING COLLAPSE: The Government And Judiciary Playing To The Gallery? by SisuluPe: 2:24pm On Apr 09, 2016
BUILDING COLLAPSE: The Government and Judiciary Playing to the Gallery?

Many give much attention to persons who do nothing meaningful, than investing their time and energy in accusing and condemning others because we live in a world where hate has taken over sound reasoning, where opinions are cheap, and where good sense is trampled upon. We celebrate the intended foolishness the irrational bring to the public domain when they attempt to rationalize an otherwise clear case of sabotage, impunity, injustice and the infringement on others freedom of worship and expression.

Some critics will say, “Justice for all” is when T.B. Joshua is arrested or when he is forced to come to court, but same will never explain why the government seems not to care or is hiding the identity of the Pilot and Crew on board in the Military Airplane from the public, that remains the major suspect in the SCOAN guest house collapse. This case should be properly pondered upon and critically tackled before we can really know how sincere the so called “justice for all” is.

It cannot just be concluded by those in authorities that it is impossible for the guest house to be brought down by an infrasonic weapon, when no appropriate investigation has been done or tendered forward to prove otherwise. Remember that in the scene of crime everyone is a suspect, including the unimaginable. The recent terrorist attack in Brussels can attest to that; the world can see how the national security of that Nation are so proactive, using CCTV footage to trace and track-down major suspects behind the terrorist attack.

The Nigerian government should support the nation’s security agent, who from the onset of the incident perceived sabotage and should not be playing to the gallery to the Anti-SCOAN sentimentalist who are hell-bent on seeing the SCOAN’s downfall.
As an opinionist would say, “An enemy has been caught; this is the right time to punish him”.

The argument has always been that the SCOAN guest house was attacked and the government should do the needful by investigating and exposing the identity of the Pilot and crew on board in the military airplane that was used to attack the SCOAN guest house. Until this is done by the Nigerian government, no matter the court verdict or campaign of calumny against Prophet T.B. Joshua, it would not stand the test of time nor affect the reputation of the Prophet and SCOAN. The truth is that those with independent mind and those who honour sound reasoning above hate will see reasons to love Prophet T.B. Joshua’s ministry the more. As far as this case is concerned, the SCOAN is in the right part of the argument. If the government claim no one or group is above the law, they should expose the identity of the pilot and crew on board in the military airplane. Let them come out to defend themselves instead of hiding and shading the suspect and going after the victims, except they are confirming our believe that the attack was carried out by powerful personalities especially when you take time to obverse the controversial disposition of the Ministry of Prophet T.B. Joshua.

The Nigerian government cannot say they are not aware of the fact that Prophet T.B. Joshua is very controversial with a lot of local and international antagonist, to the extent that there are even websites, blogs, Facebook and Twitter accounts dedicated to rubbish his reputation. For these alone are enough reasons for the Nigerian government to make the Military Airplane investigation a priority, for SCOAN is a ministry that has many rivals that are so passionate to see the downfall of Prophet T.B. Joshua. Till date the Prophet remains the most controversial human being on earth, irrespective of our individual opinion about him.

We pray for true Justice to prevail in this case!!!
