Career / Please Nairalanders, I Need Your Advice. by Skillsmaster(m): 11:16pm On Aug 28, 2022
Good evening all. Forgive my typos.
Please I am in a state of confusion right now. I posted here on nairaland last year concerning me starting a teaching job in Abuja. I have been teaching in this school for a year and half now.

My salary is 40k (on appointment letter) but there is always deduction of 10% (4k) every month which they promised to pay all the deductions by end of each session. Till now, they are yet to pay it, giving excuses of no money on ground. But they paid it to those that resigned as far as two months notification is given.

I applied in other schools before the beginning of last term, two among the schools invited me for an interview but I didn't go because of this 10% of a thing. I made up my mind to resign beginning of this term so that I can collect my 10%. Last week, I got another invite from one of those schools I applied. I went and came out successful but their salary is 60k.

I requested for 100k but they said they can only pay 60k. I didn't accept it because of the distance. Early hour of Saturday, I received a message from the school, congratulating me that I have been shortlisted for employment. I was confuse because I didn't agree with the pay. And I will be teaching in primary section.

Assuming they can even pay me 80k, I can forget about the 10% and start another hustle there. (I planned relocating to the area because of distance).

Should I accept this offer and forget about the 10% (72k+) in the school I am now?
Or should I talk to them if they can allow me to resume by January so that I can collect my money from this school? Will they accept?

Please house, I need your input on this.

Note: I will go to the school and confirm if they've agreed to increase my pay. Before the invite, I have already made up my mind to tender my resignation letter immediately school resumes.

Career / I Am In A State Of Confusion. Help With Your Advice. by Skillsmaster(m): 1:48am On Mar 23, 2021
Good morning nairalanders. Please i need urgent advice on this.
I am currently teaching in a private school (primary section) in Abuja. I started the job last week. The pay is "40k". I usually spend like #500 on transportation everyday. The problem is, my Aunty that is outside the country chatted me up yesterday asking me if i could work in Ota. That the company is a food company and they need an assistant manager. She said the pay is 25k with accommodation, but they will review the salary after three months IF i should perform well. In addition, it is a marketing job. I will be giving a car to distribute goods to some places. According to them, i will be there first staff. I told my aunt that the money is too small but she said that is what they can start with.

Should i continue with my teaching job or go for this new one? Please i need your advice urgently. Thanks.

NYSC / To All Batch A 2019 Pcms by Skillsmaster(m): 9:43am On Mar 25, 2019
For all the Batch A new Corp members that will join this group as soon as possible.
NYSC can make or break you. The choice is
yours. That 'one year' can last for just a day, or
for one thousand years; your activities in the
course of your Service Year would determine thus.
Try as much as you can to be resourceful and
enterprising during this period. Take your PPA
serious and never take CDS for granted. Pay your
dues and always be ready to volunteer yourself
for group activities. Very importantly, never depend
on #19,800. Experiment on getting a back-up to
that resource, you'ld be glad you did. As you enter
camp, just know that your time has started
counting, and also, I'ld enjoin you to start
thinking of life after service. Make your plans,
develop yourself and very important take 'savings'
very seriously. Don't eat that #19,800. It's a
seed. Invest it in a capital project. NYSC is not a
time for gyration. It's a period of preparation and
reflection for the great battle of life that lies
ahead. Don't join the bandwagon that call it a
scam. It's a blessing in disguise. Happy Service
year to 2019 PCMs! May their dreams come to past.

Romance / How Do I Handle My Girlfriend Of 6 Years? by Skillsmaster(m): 9:25pm On Dec 31, 2018
I have been dating this girl for the past six years. I met her when i was in school. She has helped me alot (financial wise). We both love each other even though we are from different tribe. At first, she told me her mother is not supporting our relationship because i am not their tribe. She later told me that she was able to convinced her mother but my mind is still not clear on that issue. The major problem i have with her is that, she is arrogant and lack respect to some extent. She doesn't want me close to any girl because of jealousy and she knows that I have nothing to do with any one of them.
So many quarrel and issue has occurred between us and even other people due to her arrogant nature. I have told her so many times to take it easy but it always seems to be that i am talking to myself. I tried to breakup with her sometimes ago, she started calling my mother and my friends.
Please nairalanders, what else should I do? #mature advice needed pls.
