Hello Guys and Good morning So yesterday something amazing happened, our thread got front page recognition, can u believe that ![]() ![]() Lately there's bin an improvement on the distance Cindy keeps from me - a distance of 5feet has bin reduced to like 3feet and dis has bin made possible tru Mira, whenever I call on Mira to take food Cindy follows up you know and can see Cindy wants to partake but she's to scared. Still working towards that day Cindy eats her first food from my palm. Well that bin said while everyone was having a good and hard laugh yesterday something funny happened at home, so it was evening and kids were playing outside and it so happened that they were playing with home made kite. Unfortunately Mira and Cindy wer by the gate roaming then one of the kids flew the kite passed the gate - omo at the sight of the kite you guys should've seen the run (Mira and Cindy) they took to their heels, I doubt if a Cheetah would catch them at that speed (they literally disappeared) lol. Anyway Mira and Cindy are saying thank you guys for the support and for the dude that said how can a chick pose for shot.... mrkings84:See for yourself below Still can't get a good shot of Cindy my bad tho, as soon as I get one will upload hers. 15 Likes 1 Share

BIO ON MIRA'S NEW COMPANION [CINDY] Hello guys, Happy Sunday As u've read in the previous text above I got Mira a friend due to less attention she gets from me. Anyway Mira's friend Cindy ( I named her Cindy cus of her all white feathers guess the name just popped up in my head) she's a local chick also. Cindy grew up with her mother for most of the time, atleast b4 I took her away(just to b clear, I didn't separate her from her mother). She hasn't quite settled down fully to understand that am no threat I doubt if that will change ever, hoping Mira will convert her. At first wen she came they both didn't cross paths everyone was just minding their business and oh did I tell u Cindy ran away the first day I brought her, had to chase after her outside d compound wasn't funny at-all. But as time went by they both bonded well, u can't see Mira without seeing Cindy close by, they roam together, play together, sand bath together ( if u've seen where chickens lay on the ground and try to use sand to fill their feathers) they practically do everything together. Atleast I can worry less about less attention cus Mira has found a friend/companion. Someone ask y not a male chick: ![]() She's too young for any male chick to start disturbing her so I got a female chick instead. Lol Would have posted a pic but Cindy's wild instincts are very much active and to her am a predator. Once I can get a clear shot I'll post her pics. Thanks guys 58 Likes 3 Shares |

Hello everyone, Good Evening and Happy New month Update on Mira*** So lately Mira has bin really okay, to think a chick without her mom can fare this long all by herself. It got me thinking, We all need a push once in a while—but hopefully it’s not a literal one, the cycle of life of animals to that of humans is quite different and in some cases (like Mammals) similar. Right from birth these animals are straight up on their feet fending for themselves and in some cases some get to grow up without the watchful eye of their parents having to face d wild and differenciate btw predator and prey. Unlike a human child that is restless for a whole year. I guess this predator and prey stuff is hard wired in all animals, what do I mean; you know how wen we were growing up there re certain things not taught to us to b gud or bad bit we just figured it out that this is right or wrong, same applies to animals..... Mira for example, each time I take her close to Reina (My Dog) that "run away from danger" instinct kicks in, she faces the other direction and is ready to stay as far away from Reina as possible and to think she's just a chick or probably it could be since am small big things scare me but on a second thought I'm big and she's not scared, well I guess nature has the answers. I just realized I've gone Nat-geo wild on u guys lol, my apologies. Recently Mira has started posing for the camera, tried taking a shot today and immediately she heard the snap sound she just took her position setting her face to d side and stood still for like 5second. Carchoice:Your story reminded me of a driver with a Peoguet 406 hatchback, I was on my way home along Ado (if most of u know there u'll also know how tight the road is especially wen u approach the junction before the u-turn) when dis guy came from nowhere and overtook 6cars on a stretch cus there was a queue due to how congested the road was, but this driver no send. In my mind I was like "where this guy there rush go" and funny thing is most of them on high speed, just one small hold-up after they must have left u (overtake) u'll still meet up and u'll b like "oga with all ur run i still don catch up"... Anyways this guy was just overtaking cars anyhow, at any given opportunity till I couldn't keep track and I lost him. 5mins' into my journey home dis time I was approaching Area1 Masaka and there the 406 was but this time it was parked by the road side with the windscreen seriously shattered, the front bumper had a big dent and u could see crowd gathered. The only comment I could make/utter was "where you dey run go" at the end u didn't get to ur destination with all the speed. |

chukskafor:Ok fingers crossed tho, cus I was taught to Identify a chicken's gender by its comb at at some point it's beak as well and for me Mira is still too young since She hasn't started developing any comb yet. 1 Like |

bigseank:Not quite the case, let's say a week+ after hatching, or probably when that bright yellow of the chicks starts to fade and each individual chick beginning to take its own form (feather colours and pattern) they (native fowl) can literally survive on its own unlike the agric where even a month old chicken still needs a watchful eye. You'll be surprised as to how this natives can survive and from wat age..... All the same Amen to ur prayer. 9 Likes |

verminnel:She spends most of her time under shades provided by flowers at home, and with d setting of the compound i doubt if any hawk or kite will attempt a quick snatch. But dat doesn't mean I won't keep a watchful eye. Thanks 44 Likes 2 Shares |

Hello guys good evening So last night I had a little problem on where to keep the chick for the night, due to rat issues we have at home (didn't want a situation where I might meet a headless chick next day) ![]() I have decided to keep the chick and also my instinct tells me it's going to b a female ![]() Say hello to Mira everyone ![]() Everyone is so fond of Mira at home, she follows anybody and everybody at home and once u leave her presence she start to cry. So I had to do the needful make her feel at home. Earlier today I went out to get a little saw-dust, a mudu of vital starter food and some vitamins. For now Mira stays in a carton filled with saw-dust, she hasn't complained yet so I think she's ok with it. I let her roam the compound freely and so far so good she like it cus through out today we barely heard her voice, it got to quiet to a point I started looking for her, thinking she might have gone out only to see her under a banana plant doing what chickens do best. Will keep u guys posted, Thanks 152 Likes 11 Shares

visiondee:Lol. Yeah I've decided to keep it About the work load, I think my work has bin cut out for me since it's native unlike the agric (a day old broiler) where u have to keep a constant eye on it, this one can partly take care of itself. 41 Likes 3 Shares |

So sometime this afternoon I heard the cry of a chick through my window and the cry was non-stop, I decide to go out and check cos we don't have any new born chick at home, I discovered a carton and in it was this little chicken, immediately I asked wat it was doing in the compound was told my younger brother found it all alone by our fence and he decided to take it in. Not use to that I told him to quickly return the chick back from where he took it from and he did, now 5mins' later I heard the cry again this tym I was angry cus I tot my younger bro didn't do as I said, so I called on him " didn't I tell u to return the chick back to where u took it from" but I did was his response,... then why am I still hearing it. We went out to check and there the chick was in the compound roaming about, this tym I took it out myself just to b sure came back inside and closed the gate. Hadn't even settled down in my room to relax wen I heard the chick again 'ah ah wetin come b dis wan now' were my thought went out again and there it was...... To cut the story short I decided to keep it, funny thing now is the chick has bin following me up and down since, if I pick it up it stops crying and if I drop it it start to cry back(you know those sounds they make wen dey don't see their Moda) sometimes I'll drop my hand and it will walk straight into my palm cool and calm. It literally slept in my palm today and looking at it all cute I didn't want to drop it. So I have decided to keep the chick, it's a native fowl tho. Thinking of a name to give it, can't really say if it's a male or female. Anyways I'll keep u guys posted. 251 Likes 18 Shares
