UPDATE
Apology guys, I've been away for sometime, unable to update the thread as often. Well good news is Cindy hatched her second batch of eggs, bad new is she couldn't hatch all. She wasn't as disciplined as her first, it was due to my intervention she hatched the ones she hatched, left to her she would have just hatched one.

In total she could only hatch 3eggs, would have bin 4 but her carelessness made her lose one that was half way outside its shell (sad sight).

Anyway, both Mira and Cindy are all over the place doing co-parenting, most times I can hardly tell which chicken belongs to Cindy or to Mira, cos they both walk together, and do every other thing together. You can only tell at night when they're about to sleep, cos every chick will retire back to his house (in dis case, under their mother's wings).

I'll try and post a pic when I get one, so you guys can see the co-parenting both mother hen are doing (heartwarming sight).

What a heartwarming thread. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Mira and Cindy in the old thread.

You sincerely care about your chickens and you have a way of making us readers care and root for them too.

You should seriously consider an IG handle. I would definitely follow.

You're such a legend man Wow. I had to go through the previous thread, see update mehn.

Lots of lessons to learn here. If a European did this, it would have attracted more traction. Did you create an Instagram or FB following for this?

I honestly don't know what to add but I'm showing this to my son.

God bless you abundantly.

Wow, just wow!!!
Thank you sir.
I didn't create another platform. I don't think I trust myself to keep up on other social platforms, I myself don't even have an IG account. NL would do for now.

How were you able to take them away from Mira to take their pictures?
Hens can be aggressive.
Takin them away from Mira wasn't a problem, she didn't retaliate on like Cindy that knocked me a couple of times.

The bond is strong smiley

cheesy The cockerel did a good job.

You should think of getting her oyibo husband if the present one is not acting responsible.

So you are now a midwife? Congratulations!

So what are the names of the new family members?
Thanks grin no names o, differentiating them would be a problem. And her second is covering (Cindy) she's due in a few weeks. So plenty chickens to keep tabs on

Hello guys
So I opened a thread several months back about a little chicken that refused to go away which I decided to keep as a pet.
There were mixed reactions about keeping a chicken as pet grin and though the previous thread was hilarious well we have come this far....

If you haven't seen the previous thread, check it out. https://www.nairaland.com/6281705/little-chick-found-doesnt-want

Like the topic said, Mira is now a mom although it wasn't easy her first batch of eggs she layed had to be destroyed due to my negligence, but with proper care and attention she was successfully delivered of 12new little chickens cheesy

Being her first time, I would say I'm glad she hatched all 12eggs.

meanwhile, the sienna gear lever is mounted on the dash....how else wld whoever get to it if not by dismantling the dashboard? undecided
You're right, but what I meant when I used the Sienna as example is that, some vehicle's gear lever are mounted on the dash as well but u can easily access the shift cable without having to dismantled almost the entire dashboard console.

For the Sienna, the guy loosed the entire bottom part, i.e clove box, stereo console, the storage space unit, the panel rack that houses the obd connector and even at that he still didn't get enough hold and space of the cable.

Anyway cars alike that, sometimes u know the problem and can see it but to access the problem u'll have to dismantle a whole lot of things just to get to something small.

Thank you

I am sure this has embarrassed most drivers before, sadly it will happen without notice to most Vehicles.

This Should guide will help you continue your trip and if you creative and can use tools, you can fix the problem your self .
Op nice DIY information.

But you should know that not all vehicles one can easily access the shift cable. I know about it when the 2009 Toyota Sienna at home developed the Same problem, the gear shift was too free wen shifting between gears but the vehicle did not engage.

Thought it was an electric fault, called the electrician, after several checks, the electrician discovered it was the shift cable, and it was a Sunday no mechanics available. He opted to do it himself due to experience.

Oga electrician almost dismantled the entire dashboard console just to locate the Shift cable, even after several parts been removed the Shift cable was still a problem to crab hold of completely, he just managed the space and room he had.

He did a little DIY with some parts of an old rubber slippers, cotton wool and super glue.

That got the job done.

Hello guys

Happy New Month
Hope y'all are fine

UPDATE
Like I said in previous post Cindy was laying and Mira s covering..... Well as things stands now, Cindy has started covering she layed about 9eggs but due to the height of where she layed and not having a well balance surface, and also her leaving and getting back due to feeding, two of the eggs broke cry so it's seven now.

And for Mira, good news guys......
Her post might come on a new thread, depending! I would want to make a statement on those that had mixed feeling about not getting this far.

What do u guys think, should we open a new thread (hopefully it makes front page) for the good news on Mira??

Pls let me know....... grin

Seems your hen is a WELSUMER (WELSUMER are a breed of chicken from Dutch, bred mainly for ornamental purposes... perhaps if you later decide to later create an IG handle, follow us on IG @ ryeo_animal_world if you would like to know more about the breed and other various types of chicken breeds)
By the way, nice thread keep it up smiley
Thanks for the heads-up, will do to check out ur IG page when I'm chanced.

About what u said Mira been a "WELSUMER" the key word there is 'seems' but she isn't. I did a few research from what u said and I could see some similarity, Mira looks like the breed but every other thing doesn't apply.

The WELSUMER breed are bred mainly for egg production, a wels can lay over 160+ eggs a year. Correct me if I'm wrong but over here in Nigeria I think they're referred to as Layers.

All the same tho, thanks for your input and I'm looking forward to ur IG Handle.

Below is a WELSUMER, you can see the resemblance to Mira.

UPDATE

Hello guys, good day. Hope y'all are doing great.
There has been a new development but first let me tell u, Mira has started covering and the total amount of eggs she layed was 10 (at least that's what I counted the last time I checked) now that she's covering it might be more. grin

Back to the earlier news (development) of recent Cindy has been chasing all her chicks away, if they come close she knocks them and chase them away. At first I taught something was wrong and maybe Cindy had bad parenting instinct, cos the chickens are still very young to Carter for them selves when their mother is still alive.

It turned out that Cindy just started laying for the second time cheesy so I figured that's what caused her grumpy attitude towards her chicks. Oh poor chickens cry they won't know why their mother is acting up.

Below is a pic of Mira covering and the eggs Cindy is laying. I guess she's fond of the charcoal bags cos that's where she hatched the chickens.

Modified: I was able to count the eggs when she stood up to feed. Total amount is 12eggs.

Will keep u guys posted.

Hey what's up guys
Happy new month to you all.

I have a not so great news to share with u guys. As you all have seen and noticed over the past few months I've not bin consistent with update, reasons been that I've bin quite busy and unfortunately over the next coming months u guys will see less update from me.

I'll try my best to update the thread whenever I can and be rest assured the chickens will be well treated.

That bin said, update on Cindy and her little chicks, everyone is fine, the chicks re in gud health, although their growth is a bit slow compared to when I got Mira. Maybe I'm just in a rush grin and about the chick that got injured - well it's fine and has healed up well, it no longer limps (like @kaeboy pointed out) wink.

One more thing before I forget, I know it took like forever for me to show u guys the roosters, well I got a pic and u guys will see and can also tell which is timid and which is aggressive.

N: if u look closely you'll see that one is missing feathers around the chest area, that's a result of the unending scuffle cry

Once again I'll like to thank everyone that took out time to participate one way or another to make this thread lively and what it is today. Without you guys this thread would have bin long forgotten.
We've come a long way grin
Thanks guys kiss kiss kiss

Eyah poor little chick. She's going to grow up limping. You can apply normal methylated spirit or gv.

I don't mean to laugh but this your bandage is funny grin grin grin
And you had to wrap the chick in wrapper cheesy
Lol, had to wrap the chick as it was shivering probably due to the pain and the water I used to wash off the blood stains.

On applying meth. spirit, uhm... I think it will be a bit too harsh on the chick, wouldn't want this little chick experiencing such pain at this tender age. The GV sounds ok but unfortunately I don't have any at home.

Update;

So something happened a few minutes ago, I'm a bit sad tho but am ok. Remember how I told u guys I separated the roosters just so peace could rain, well.....

One of them got free and all hell broke lose cry
Good news is nobody died, bad news is..... cry cry cry

Someone got injured (seriously)..

Further update coming up later.
So the lastborn of the house went and did Ajayi work, he went and fed the whole chicken, in the process the door I used to separate the two roosters was left open.

After a few minutes the territorial squabble began, and in the quest for supremacy and dominance a little chicks was caught in the cross-fire cry

The little chick was left injured.

I guess their father ain't one of those cockerels you bought on bonanza from those Hausa from Kaduna.
A picture of their father will help us judge what the offspring from the combo will look like
Nah, compared to the time I bought them(Cockerel) Mira and Cindy were adults, so it can't be even though they grow up fast.
I have two roosters, can't tell which exactly is responsible cheesy, although one is a bit timid while the other is aggressive trying to claim the territory as well as the hens for himself alone.

At a point I had to separate the two roosters, got to a point the scuffle became bloody, the timid one lost all the feathers covering the head and neck area with injuries to the comb.

Presently both are in separate places. Will post the pics when I'm chanced.
