Gideonaigbe: Congratulations. I noticed you didn’t include your bank statement, which is really what affected our visa, even though submitted the sponsors details. @justwise do you think if we reapply and exclude the personal statement, will this affect us? |

justwise: Hello @Justwise, So we spoke to her boss today, and she advised we appeal. She said when she applied to go for the SAME training she was refused on the same family ties ground... so when she appealed she explained her situation in the cover letter; and she was eventually granted. Do you think we should also appeal or send a fresh application? |

Gideonaigbe: That’s what I thought too. Also, the agent didn’t attach a cover letter, it was only the extra information page on the form that she left a short reason for applying. |

bigtt76: She can’t list me as a dependent, because I’m a British citizen, even though I live in Nigeria - didn’t want to complicate things for her. She’s not working for the sponsor, she was working with a different company (let’s call it Company A) as an intern when she got the Scholarship Grant award from (Company B) - she was offered a full time job by Company A, but they agreed she can start after the training - and the training was recommended by Company A. She wasn’t applying for employee visa, she was applying for a short study visa, and the school she’s attending has the license to sponsor that. Company B is only the financial sponsor. |

Below are the documents the agent prepared for submission: - International Passport - Offer letter from the school in London - Student Invoice from the school in London - Employment Offer Letter - Visa Support Letter from Her Current Boss (stating she’s on an unpaid internship to start a full time role after her training course). - The Official Scholarship Grant/Sponsorship Letter from the International Company - A Board Resolution from the Sponsors showing the details of their CSR activities, and when the Scholarship Grants were approved for the candidates (including the applicant) signed by the board members. - The Sponsor’s full company profile with their —— Business Registration Certificate with CAC Nig —— Business Registration Certificate in England & Wales —— Tax Clearance Certificate ___ Recent projects/contract offer letters & invoices —— A Certificate of Affiliation & License with the Central Bank of Nigeria - Applicant’s Flight booking and hotel reservation - Her NECO & WAEC results. - Birth Certificate - Her Bank Statement - An original copy of her Scholarship Grant award certificate - Two pictures from the Scholarship Grant Award ceremony - A certificate from a previous training in Nigeria - in the same field as the London one. |

Dear @Justwise thank you for creating this thread, this has been so useful to me (a first timer)... and thank you to other experts for serving people selflessly. And I need your advice please - I recently helped my 18 year old cousin apply for a Short Term UK Student Visa in Abuja through an agent - for a training course that’s starting on the 7th of January; and she was refused for two reasons (I have attached the letter below) Here’s the back story: She started a similar training in Nigeria back in April 2018, soon after the training she got an unpaid internship job and fortunately for her, the internship was sponsored by an International Company that offers Scholarship Grants As part of the CSR initiative - and she was one of those who got the training grant. She was also offered a full time job with a starting salary of N65k to commence immediately after her mandatory training in London. The two companies (her employer and the sponsor) where kind enough to give us all the document we needed plus extras... they only concern I had was her account balance which was quite low because of her own mistake; but we were told it didn’t really matter since the company provided their own account details and she’s young... Secondly she had no prove of family ties, because 1. she’s an orphan and her siblings are scattered all over the country, 2. She’s young and not married, left secondary school about a year ago, has no properties or investments... but the agent ignored that. Sadly we didn’t include a covering letter explaining her situation. I only found this thread after the application was submitted - and I just hoped for the best. But we didn’t get the best. Please I want to know when is the best time reapply, and what should we do differently to better her chances this time? How do show a strong family, social or economic ties from now and on time before her course starts? Please please we need your help urgently - our agent went silent on us the minute she got the refusal news.
