Romance / legal union in modern society: different angle by solbil: 4:45pm On Oct 24, 2015 |
When a young man or woman reaches a certain age in most societies, that individual is expected to begin to think about marriage. But what is marriage, really? Has it always been here with the human being? Is the feeling to get married inherent in us? What form should it always take? These are some of the questions i will be giving my opinion on. What is Marriage? Before i go on, i would like to say that this write up is completely my opinion and is very subjective. For me, Marriage is actually society's WISE way of managing itself. It is society's way of saying "we understand you have to fall in love; we understand you want to have sex and have babies, but because of certain things, please do all of that within a particular kind of setting we will call Marriage". We can also say that marriage is the continuation of a relationship after some formal ceremony has been done. Has marriage always been with us? I believe the society evolved marriage over time. For those who believe in the bible, God said in Genesis 2:18 "...i will make a companion for him". He did not say: "i will make a WIFE for him", there is a difference. We are the ones who later called her WIFE. And if you read on into the stories of Cain and Abel and how Cain went on to reproduce, there was no mention of marriage- a relationship between opposite sexes after a formal ceremony has been done. The human being was just going about his normal activities, falling in love, out of love, having sex and making babies. Along the line, the disadvantages of that started becoming overwhelming and the society thought it wise to restrict human behaviour and sexuality within marriage. Is the feeling to get married inherent in us? One of the concerns people raise when you tell them you don't want to get married or that you might never get married is loneliness. But the truth is...what causes loneliness sometimes, is not the fact that we are not married. It’s the fact we are not with someone with whom we share heart, whether we are married to the person or not. What we feel for not being married is not loneliness but worry. We are worried about how the society will see us or that the person we are with would just leave someday. Also, we are concerned about late parenthood or our biological clock. I think the society has to understand it already that not everyone will get married at the time or will ever get married at all. This is not a statement of pessimism or lack of faith. Some find their right partner earlier than the others. There is no reason anyone should begin to take desperate measures to get married when they clock a certain age. People who are 'ripe for marriage' are told to put themselves out there more in order to find a partner. But for me, that's a wrong approach and should be disregarded. You can meet that person right in the course of your normal activities. Infact, "putting yourself out there more", can make you want to settle for just anything that comes. If loneliness is the problem, please know that getting into marriage or anyrelationship for that matter, won't solve it. If you are bothered about your biological clock or about late parenthood, then you may want to have your child now, by one of the many fair ways that exist, then you can take the rest of your life to look for love. Who says by the time you eventually find it, other people will be more fulfilled than you? And who says at 80, you still wouldn't be admired by some people anymore? Haven't you seen people in their 80s get married? What makes us think we, who got married decades earlier, are more fulfilled? Yes, you don't have to be married to have a child. If you are religious and think your body is the temple of the spirit, then you might want it artificially. I do not think God should be worried about that. I encourage us to think outside of the box. |
Religion / Science and Religion agree. by solbil: 4:06pm On Oct 24, 2015 |
Quantum entanglement is the quantum mechanical phenomenon in physics that says: when two particles (e.g., atoms or its sub particles) are entangled with one another no matter their distance apart, then what happens to one of the particles, will definitely dictate what happens to the partner particle separated by a distance no matter how small or how large. How this happens exactly, cannot be explained by scientists. two entangled atoms separated by a distance and responding to each other's behaviour. Psychic consciousness involves the using of mind power to create a real physical effect through means that cannot be explained by science. Members of esoteric organizations, who are called satanic by Christians and the Christian church, do this a lot. They try to send positive thoughts to either a loved one or a conflict region so as to help bring a stop to human suffering. First of all, growing up in a Christian community, I was made to believe that esoteric organizations are satanic even though what they do and say, do provide answers to some of our puzzling real life experiences- that one's mental activity can affect the other person's behaviour towards you. I have experienced this myself several times! In the daily devotional "Raphsody of Realities" Reach out Nigeria edition; on the 12th of October, 2015, the author, Rev. Chris Oyakhilome said and i quote: "Thoughts are powerful. Your thoughts release signals...now, if you understand the spirituality of this and the SCIENCE behind it (bringing to mind quantum entanglement), you will be amazed and become more careful about the thoughts you allow". When he said this, he made the statement that Christians and the Christian church are beginning to agree with the various esoteric organizations, which they have termed satanic, and have known and practiced this for millennia. Of course, the whole of this is unknown to the largely ignorant Nigerian society. That the Christian church and Christians are beginning to realize and agree with the same esoteric organizations they term satanic, is not the essence of this write up. The essence is in the fact that psychic consciousness is real and that, like Rev. Chris Oyakhilome alluded to, it (psychic consciousness) is supported or corroborated by the scientific physical phenomenon called Quantum entanglement. What a striking realization! Quantum entanglement is a scientific phenomenon whose observation of it is more dramatic at the sub atomic level (particles capable of zero psychological behaviour) while psychic consciousness happens with the human being (a matter capable of full psychological behaviour). The puzzling question now is this: How is it possible that a sub atomic particle (matter capable of zero psychological behaviour) acts and behaves exactly the same way as the human being (matter capable of full psychological behaviour)? Science is beautiful! |
Foreign Affairs / Re: Let's Have Your Questions Here: Ask A Cameroonian? by solbil: 5:37pm On Dec 01, 2012 |
as for bakasi, you can have it. It doesnt make sense fighting over a small piece of land. I hope your govt will use it for the good of the good people of the rep of cameroon. Still about violence, it was reported that NY city just witnessed a single day without a violent crime. Yet you have never thought of new york as a "violent place" you would like to visit there i know. Stop being stereotypical. |
Foreign Affairs / Re: Let's Have Your Questions Here: Ask A Cameroonian? by solbil: 5:23pm On Dec 01, 2012 |
stop calling bakasi your land. It belongs to us. We are not greedy, we are not imperialists. Non of our foreign policies at any point in time has ever been geared towards imperialism of any kind. We have a policy of good neighbourliness to our neighbours. This is important for our own internal peace and security. All the countries we are surrounded by are francophones. If you all team up against us especially with the help of france, we will be a bit uncomfortable. But without france, we can easily deal with all of you at the same time lol. It will be like israel and her naighbours. Even if we can deal with you easily, you will agree with me that it is better to live in peace than to be hostile to each other. As for the violence, we are not more violent than any other society in the world. Forget about BH! The thing is, we are sooo covered by the media than any other country on the continent apart from egypt the last time i checked. And that was two years back. We must have overtaken egypt by now considering how vibrant our media is and how aware we are of politics. Maiduguri borders you which means violence is not far from you! |

but let me ask this question, and i want people to answer me. Whats the difference between two people living together with kids but not married and two people with kids living together and are married? What special and tangible effect does the marriage rite and rituals have on the two people? I think marriage is a mere formality. Or am i missing something...? |
Romance / Re: Can I Still Get Married After 4 Children? by solbil: 4:32pm On Dec 01, 2012 |

Romance / Re: How Do You Really Know You Are In Love? by solbil: 2:50pm On Nov 30, 2012 |
people give pessemistic ideas here becos of their unfortunate past. But your unfortunate past does not change the fact that you would like to go extra mile for your love. You know you are in love when the thought of the person brings smiles to your face and a kind of feeling to your heart. Anytime you think about her, its only got to do with the positive. You want to know how she feels, what she thinks, what she needs and at this time, you forget about yourself; that you even habe needs! And se.x hardly comes to your mind. When being with her isnt enough for you and you want to seal it up in marriage. When marriage isnt enough for you and you wan to be father of her child. When you make love to her, it isnt just an activity between you two but an involvement of your heart. Its so sweet that way! When you feel the way i have mentioned earlier, dont let anyone decieve you that you are being infactuated. Thats a lie! Infatuation doesnt last long. 2 Likes |

i understand the victims also and sometimes have a role in cases like these, but the issue with blaming them is; we trivialize the gravity of the offence commited by the perpetrators. We make the perpetrators feel like they gave to the victims what they deserved. Note that i used "victim" and not "women" . Women are not only victims of things like this. I think we shouldnt be celebrating any world day for violence against women. Instead we should be trying to eliminate all kinds of violence what so ever |

Islam for Muslims / Re: Why Do Muslims Fail To Understand Biology Is Not The Only Way To Become Father? by solbil: 1:04pm On Nov 23, 2012 |
tbaba, all of your long arguement become weak when you come to realise that jesus is not human. Yes, by the power of the holy spirit he became man only for about 33 years. But jesus is first and foremost not man. He is spirit. The bible said not one thing was created without him. Which means,he existed before the world began, before humans were created. How can some who existed before humans be equated with humans. |

@kdular, you are absolutely right! I mean, Why do you continue to say that which you know could lead to all these senseless killing. But i know you are also going to agree with me that it is ony human to make gest and humur. Many times you say those things not to hurt anyone really but as part of a friendly discussion which could make you people to laugh and its normal with discussions. To avoid statements like this completely, one has to cut off all relationships with the other person. And thats not possible. Most times you say those things without knowing it. To ask people to stop such comments is like telling a leopard to change the spots on its skin. It is human! And its not as if they do not make such comment about christ and christianity! What do they want christians to do? Go and start killing people? And i am curious to know; may be muslims should answer this: will you see it as ok if christians kill muslims for blasphemy against christ and christianity. |
Islam for Muslims / Why Do Muslims Fail To Understand Biology Is Not The Only Way To Become Father? by solbil: 9:21am On Nov 23, 2012 |
i just dont know why! Anytime you tell muslims that jesus is the son of God, they tell you something like; how can god have a son when he doesnt have a wife? To them, you can only have a son through biological means. But is it true that it is only through biology that one can become a son to another person? Jesus made us to understand in the early part of the gospel of john that a man becomes son of his father through biology. But he becomes a child of God through the spirit. (john 3:6) good news bible. The quran agrees that Adam is the son of God. And the same quran knows that "God does not have a wife". Yet it knows that Adam is the son of God. Which means that the idea of having a son without biological means isnt elusive to the glorious quran. Despite this, muslims just cant understand it when you tell them jesus and by extension, christians are sons of God! |
Islam for Muslims / Nigeria Riot Over 'blasphemy' Against Islam's Prophet by solbil: 8:26am On Nov 23, 2012 |
Nigeria riot over 'blasphemy' against Islam's prophet 22 November 2012 Last updated at 20:20 Christian and Muslim leaders are encouraging inter-faith dialogue in Nigeria A rumour that a Christian man blasphemed against Islam has sparked a riot in the northern Nigeria town of Bichi, police have said. Residents said four people were killed and shops were looted. The riot came on the day the incoming head of the Anglican Church, the Rt Rev Justin Welby, launched an initiative to promote religious tolerance in Nigeria. Religious clashes have claimed thousands of lives in Nigeria since military rule ended in 1999. The militant Islamist group, Boko Haram, has also been waging an insurgency since 2009 to impose strict Sharia across Nigeria, which is roughly divided between a mainly Muslim north and a Christian and animist south. 'Learning about religions' Nigeria's Kano state police chief Ibrahim Idris said "misinformation" had triggered the riot, AFP news agency reports. "Rumours went round that someone blasphemed the Prophet [Muhammad] and there was a breakdown of law and order," he is quoted as saying. The BBC's Yusuf Ibrahim Yakasai in Kano, the main city in northern Nigeria, says that a heavy contingent of soldiers and policemen have been deployed to Bichi to restore order. It is a small town about 30km (18 miles) from Kano. Mr Idris said the riot broke out when a Christian tailor mispronounced the name of a dress while chatting with his Muslim neighbour in Hausa, the main language spoken in the north, changing the meaning to "the Prophet has come to the market", AFP reports. Angry Muslim youths then attacked Christian-owned shops, looting and burning them, he said. Residents said four Christians were killed, but Mr Idris could not confirm this. Our reporter says some residents gave him a different account of what caused the riot. They told him that a Muslim crowd first attacked a Christian man for wearing a T- shirt that they alleged blasphemed against the Prophet Muhammad. In the capital, Abuja, Bishop Welby joined Nigerian Muslim and Christian religious leaders and former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair to launch a campaign to promote religious tolerance. The Tony Blair Faith Foundation - which organised the programme - got students from Christian and Muslim communities in Nigeria to chat via a video link with students from different faiths in the UK city of Derby. Bishop Welby is a former oil executive who will become the Archbishop of Canterbury in March. He has visited Nigeria 70 times, and was the special envoy to Africa for the outgoing Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams, who is stepping down after 10 years in the role. |

Msauza: . By studying in Naija, did it mean that SA did not have better universities? Where did Mandela study?i was only debunking your supercilious and arrogant ignorance and your fake "i am better" sentiment. And talking about better unis. We all know that the educational institution (no matter how good)attended by a student contributes less than 20percent to his intellectual development. The rest lies in the individual himself. No wonder wole soyinka, from a school in the third world is better known than his mates who did the same course in schools in the developed world. Come to think of it. I bet you dont know nothing about nigerian unis. You have not even being to anyone before and yet you know yours are better than ours. If you are educated as you would have us believe, then you should also know that you dont judge something you hardly know. You only rely on the deluded nigerians on this forum to get an idea of the country. i wonder why it beats this guy that dangote is the richest man in africa. Could it be that he (muazu or masuza) is the one who just cannot handle that sublime truth? Dangote is a house hold name and not just a cement producer. So he sells every day and in huge quantities. Do you know how much spags, noodles, juice, salt and sugar are sold in nigeria and other parts of africa in a day? That alone outsells any BEER any where. |

Dey there make you dey dull yourself. Fyi, dangote is not only into cement. He is in every aspect of our life. From the cement you use to build your house to the salt and sugar on your table. From spagetti to juice he is present. He is also building a multi billion dollar fertilizer plant in river state. The man has huge shares in oil and gas, banking etc. Dont underate dangote and nigerians. Better change that perception you have of nigerians and stop listening to the bbc and cnn. |

msauza the looser, what has your anti nigerian sentiment fetched you if not a circadian rythm of cronic migraine? You asked how dangote's wealth could jump that much in a short time. Well let me give you the lil education you have refused to give to yourself. At a point in time, there was a situation in the cement market here in nigeria that made it possible for dangote to bring down his price far below that of his competitors so that his competitors began loosing customers. The option left for the competitors was to sell off their company which they did when a juicy offer came from dangote. After acquiring his competitors, he immediately pushed cement prices to about 300-400percent of the original price of cement. He took over all limestone deposites in nigeria. Thats how his company grew so rapidly in that short time. Before he did all these take over, he was worth only 3bn dollar. And at the begining of last year, he was worth 13.4bn. The man is a genius! Thats the truth. 1 Like |

Msauza: . This is a scam by the west. I still do not believe that Aliko Dangote tops the list of africa's richest men. In the past a lot has been said about africa agenda of promoting the interests of white people, especially those based in south africa. Not long ago Nicky Oppenheimer was the richest and even doubled Aliko Dangote's wealth. Nicky is the chair and owner of DE BEERS (Diamonds Mining Company) estimated @ the net worth over $38 Billion and ever since Forbes was influenced by African politics they offloaded the inclusion of DE BEERS properties in Nicky's assets. In media Dangote is put on the map and in reality it tells the different story. Do not be fooled by anything that has been written on Forbes magazine, well, it gives light in some way, but is not reliable. The stats on this magazine can be hugely distorted and interfered with by politics, especially of the western to fool a black people that africa's economy is in their hands and not that of the western who are based in africa, looting our natural resources. Forbes is in the mission of diverting our focus away from reality by means of propaganda. Dangote's face is being used as a front by the Forbes, tell me how will it ever happen on earth that this noble man, whose profit is mainly generated from cement and flour (which is now sold to SA white owned food company TIGER BRANDS) overtake Nicky in just a year and half and even went on further to double his wealth in just two years. Something does not add up, in fact, something is fishy here. All this happened after the former ANCYL president Julius Malema started pushing for NATIONALISATION OF MINES in south africa and AFRICAN AGENDA that the following year statistics of Forbes changed dramatically. Is this a move by Forbes to shut us up and stop us from asking rhetorical questions about the wealth of white people in africa, particularly SA, who are making fortune in mining Gold, Diamonds and Platinum.who else would say this if not you who has a crush on naija.
