Hello everyone, i am an almost silent observer on this thread. I have gathered as much information as possible, the only thing i am struggling with is best accommodation option. I have pretty much narrowed down to Dr Xydas of HNWMC. As per accommodation, i have a $750/month offer for a room ( all bills and gas covered)- about 10mins from the hospital, which will bring uber to about $15/trip. My question- has anyone used or does anyone know of any accommodation very close to the hospital ( maybe walking distance if possible) that is not that expensive? Also somewhere central to shopping malls etc...

I have tried maps but i think my best bet for answering this question is an experienced person- please help!

Thanks so much!

Hi Vicjustice, thanks for your response. I didnt use an ambulance, went in a private car. Also the doctor told me that its only if i was taken to the ward, which they wanted to do, that it would have cost me. He was Nigerian so he explained that to me and advised that i take drugs. So im definite it was free...
Vicjustice:

Are you really certain that the treatment and the (ambulance) transportation was free?
I doubt this because, i know that (though, it may take some time, but) they usually send bills to the person who received medical services and demand full payment of the entire costs except of course you were covered by insurance.
Before knowing what to answer to that question, i advice you to contact the address that you declared and see whether there was/is any correspondence from the hospital debt recovery body: You would have a lot of explaining to do if you left the UK while the debt was pending.

Hi Justwise, VicJustice, O'Green et al...please help.

I need some clarification. I went to the UK for a few days in december. However, the day i got in, i got a stomach bug from some food i had and was so sick i had to be rushed to A & E. I was rehydrated, given antibiotics and left that same day. All free of charge, and they were aware i was a visitor. My question is now that i'm re-applying, how do i answer the 'have you ever received medical treatment in the uk' question? If yes, how do i fill the contact as i don't even know this. Also, can this cause any issue with my application?

Thanks

Uhm depends on work really. I have just worked for 3months at my office but still got leave approval...i don't think its cast in stone. I told my boss before i resumed that id need time off in the nearest future
.its easier when its not your first job. If i were the V.O i would be more concerned if its a first job.

Good point.

Hello everyone. I am a silent follower, read most if not all of pages on this thread. Interview was on Aug. 5, applied with my hubby and 19month plus daughter. Please see transcript below:

V.O- So why do you wanna go to the usa?

Hubby n I- Family vacation

V.O- Where?

Hubby n I- Disneyland, Orlando, FL

V.O- How long?

Hubby n I- 10 days

V.O- to hubby, what do you do

Hubby- Market research consultant

V.O- who do you work with

Hubby- Bleep

V.O- how much do you earn?

Hubby- Bleep

Asks me same quesion and i answer- Brand manager at Bleep earning Bleep

V.O- how much do you plan on spending

Me- 1.5m ( we discussed and agreed on this that morning, lol!..applied the uk ' not more than x3 of earnings' unspoken rule)

V.O goes eerily quiet, typing away, looks intensely at visas on our passports ( hubby had an SA visa stamp, we both had zanzibar visa stamps and all 3 of us had uk visa stamps) btw, he checked my baby's passport and also looked intensely at her visa...didnt ask about travel history though, he figured that out himself, i guess.

V.O. ( after looooong silence): uhm is it just 3 of you travelling or someonelse is going with you? (At this point i was like 'yaay we r getting d visas' lol!)

Us: yes, just 3 of us

cos my pp was in my maiden name, i had moved ny marriage certificate n change of name to the top of our docs for easy reach.

V.O: You two are married right?

Us: yes, then i reached for d docs

V.O: uhm, your visas have been approved, den he goes 'whats that? Pointing at the documents i was bringing out

Us- our marriage certificate

V.O- nah, never mind. Pls pick up ur visas bla bla

Us- thank you.

Interview was in Lagos, the guy was white and had glasses on.

This forum has been very useful, i still follow it everyday... thanks to everyone who takes their time to help others..Lady G, Justwise et al... and all the best to future applicants.x

Hi 3sha4lyf,

This is my first post on nairaland, hope i'm doing it right. I need your advice. My husband, baby & I plan to spend xmas in the uk with my sister. We both work and earn reasonable amounts. I have a savings account separate from my salary account that has about N500k. We plan on dropping our salary account statements which are our active accounts (salary comes in and goes out) plus my savings account. Question is is this ok for the application? we plan on sharing the expense. My hubby gets different bonuses at december which would help the trip and i would get my leave allowance also...how do you suggest we go about it? btw, my sister will send her biodata page and invitation letter. On travel history, i was born in the UK (post 82 so no automatic passport for me), i was there in '07 but was refused 2 times after, btw '07 & 08... reasons i don't clearly remember but it had to do with not enough documentation, which i agree, cos i assumed a renewal was automatic, i think. while the 2nd i was out of uni, so probably no strong ties. I haven't tried since then. My hubby has never been to the UK, but was in S/A for job related stuff this year.

3sha4lyf:

Summary... Pls put your salary account and explain irregularities. Include your dad's account IF he is in anyway sponsoring the trip. You may need other supporting documents to back this up. smiley
