Travel / Re: U.k Easter Visit - Pls Help by Sparkles3: 8:51pm On Jan 23, 2010
Bayo Adex:

Nairaland has been a darlin to me since i joined and i can think of a day or2 without me logging in. Thanx to d creator and all other members. thanks thanks Thanks to all.
Pls i need help on this issue. I want to visit the U.K as a first time applicant this Easter period, however, i have no relations in U.K that can invite me. I thought of doing hotel reservation (not with credit card o i will send a friend to actually go and pay at the hotel) so as to serve as the invitation for tourism as i wanna get back to my work in 2 weeks. A month ago, i was introduced to an guy who just came back from U.K to a friend. The guy helps pple to get invitation, book hotel and all those stuffs sha. He has helped 2 pple dat my friend knows and also my friend too (but my friend wasnt given visa cos he went and put some 3m in his a/c to boost a/c and dat was only reason for denial by uk embassy) I discussed with him and he promised to get me all d docs for family visit and i will pay him 150,000 naira- 80, 000 down payment and 70,000 when i get d visa (God willing). To be sure of him, i requested he brings copies that he has with him and he brought a guy's documents - paspport page (uk citizen, bank statement, evidence of mortgage, payslips and other docs sha which are in coloured photocopy. he said he just brought the from Uk for someone. the guy sounds confident and advise dat i shouldnt do reservation as U.K favours family visit and im quite young 24 yrs (without wife and kid).
My sister who stys in America thinks Business Visa is better mayb get travelling agencies that package trade fairs and exhibitions and get invited for an exhibition.
Considering the Muttalab bomber issue hasnt helped as well cs these pple will be very reluctant nw as i also have a muslim name as my last name- Abdullahi.
Plss I need candid advise from nairalanders on what to do cs i have all docs in nija. Pls help on what to do. Thanks to all

I have concerns over the highlighted! Dont you think if the guys documents were genuine he would not willingly give you (stranger) copies of his document? Theres a fraud called 'Identity Theft'. Forget those documents he showed you; they are fake!

You can make your hotel reservations without paying a dime and apply as a tourist.

As for your name being Abdullahi, its a 50 -50 chance. Best of luck

@ rokiatu,
It’s a Public Forum and everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion. If you have a problem because some people’s opinions differs from your, You had rather keep MUTE   rather than calling them IDIOTS!

Why is there an option of ‘NO’ in the Poll If the poster expected every one to click YES

Its not like they are conderming those who aint virgins but rather trying to say that virtue is still valuable.I have read a lot from nairaland and at a certain stage was scared that being one was like a crime especially when the guys say they want experienced ladies and wont settle for a virgin.Believe me really scary that what you had tot all along was priceless wasnt the rave anymore to the guys that mattered. I will be 27 soon, with a degree, pretty , still a virgin and waiting for the right time.

I'm not surprised

Foreign Affairs / Another Earthquake Hits Haiti! by Sparkles3: 2:58pm On Jan 20, 2010
Another earthquake has hit Haiti as rescuers searched for survivors buried under rubble.

The US Geological Survey said the 6-magnitude quake struck at about 6am local time about 35 miles north-west of the country's capital, Port-au-Prince.

There were no immediate reports of further casualties but reports said the tremor led to widespread panic.

International Development Secretary Douglas Alexander told MPs that the British search and rescue team was safe following the aftershock.

At question time in the House of Commons, he said: "Since I've arrived in the House this morning, there has been a significant aftershock registering 6.1 on the Richter Scale but the word that I have received is that our search and rescue team is safe and are continuing their work."

He offered the Government's sympathy to the victims of the Haiti earthquake and spoke of the "great collective pride" in the actions of the UK search teams in Port-au-Prince.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister said international coordination has to be improved to help deal with further disasters after the earthquake.

At Commons question time, Mr Brown paid tribute to those coping with the "still unfolding tragedy" in Haiti.

"We must, first, provide support; second, improve international coordination; and third, help get the government of Haiti back on its feet to be able to deliver reconstruction."

He urged the setting-up of a UN reconstruction agency to provide a dedicated task force of professionals to deal with similar disasters in future

blacksta:

It does not have to be like that - what happened to integrity . I understand in the u.k you have pay an extra £50 ontop of the visa fees and it has to be cash . That itself is an earning of almost £100,000 (N2 480, 000 ) missing from the Nigerian coffers

naija_swag:

Small money!

Check your calculation is N 24,800,000 not N 2,480,000

Or is it that u just allow a lot of trash to be posted on your section.

Can u not set a buffer for mail, address, company name and phone number. Before a person posts about a job topic. So that even if they post a topic,by calling the number we know if they r a fraud or true.

Cos their constant posting of email addresses that are either wrong or used to spam people is giving this section a bad name.

Seconded!

The forum is so messed up that I m finding it so hard to see a genuine job advert! sad

Spammers are on the loose! sad sad
