Xbee007: Glue or tape might have been better. If you don't get the point, it means there's really no need trying to explain. Just look at other similar vehicles and you'll see. |

lionel4power: No. Cheetahs ended up in Ecuador. Not every air frame was salvageable, so they end up in such places. Denel also uses one for tests. |

jln115: Pic 1. I read somewhere that American troops (who don't have a lot of experience in peacekeeping missions) naturally want to raise their weapons at a protesting crowd. Quite cool that this pic captures that. Pic 2. Epic pic

Adminisher: I don't know why you're still replying. You already proved your incompetence on the issue by saying all 250 lb bombs will reach same distance, under same launch conditions. They won't, some will fall at 30km, some at 45, some at 60km. All based on how they are engineered. I know full well that range depends on launch conditions, but its not up to YOU to say 20km can be reached. You are clueless as to what launch envelope would be required to achieve that. It might not be possible. |

Adminisher: You are an engineer? Perfect . Mr engineer, this should be an easy question for you. If all glide bombs on the market (let's say 250lb size) were released at the exact same height, under the exact same weather conditions, under the exact same launch profiles, will they all travel the same distance? Yes or No? Easy question which you won't be able to answer. Again, you cannot just add 6km range to Paveway just because you feel like it. There is a specific reason the manufacturer said 14km. |

Adminisher: Thank you Mr Paveway engineer. Why stop at 20? Why not say 50? If all glide bombs on the market are released under equal atmospheric conditions and release techniques, they'll all land at the same distance? Stop making stuff up. 1 Like |

SupremeCourt: You quite literally do not know what you are talking about. This chassis has nothing to do with surviving a blast. Blast survival has everything to do with how well the body is engineered by Proforce. Simple 2 Likes |

Henry240: I claimed an order would be made for OPV's or SANDF in general? The one item which I was punting was the ground based Umkhonto. Denel and DOD were pretty much married on it (unofficially) especially after the qualification test. But qualification doesn't mean a final product, so Denel is waiting on DOD to provide further risk assessment funds. As I know it, an estimated number of units had been agreed discussed, but DOD stalling. So picture bleak/on hold as DOD has pretty much run out of new money in the past 12 months. |

SupremeCourt: The chassis has absolutely nothing to do with the survivability of the crew (which is the whole point of an MRAP). Survivability, and how this vehicle performs in the field will be all down to the engineering effort at Proforce, not the chassis they are using/imported. But choosing a good chassis is of course a good start. And my last point on this topic, if you don't see any false claims then I clap my hands. Its not even a month, ARA has not been pushed to breaking point. Nigerian army has not given feedback yet, but already your market research predicts you'll take over the African market. Okay then. 3 Likes |

Henry240: I wonder what you'll say when OPV is reinstated. And the request for IPV's, what did the article say? As already stated on Nairaland, funding for OPV's had already been shifted to 2018/2019 financial year. Not a single bolt had been purchased yet, and no company had started building anything. You are celebrating a non existant victory . OPV requirement is now gone, never to be seen again in a few months? Also, I'm curious....which of the arms deal Gripens, submarines, Hawks or Frigates are still being paid for to this day? Kindly elaborate. Or again you made something up? 2 Likes |

tdayof: 1. I never mentioned my country in any of my comments. So that goes to show it was what you based your responses on "Nigeria vs South Africa". That's your baby, not mine. 2. Ignore simple facts if you want to. There is still a very long way to go for it to be considered one of the best, yes because it is brand new. Faults will still be found, changes made, and Proforce will have to adopt different assembly/manufacture techniques. Someone who works with sheet metal will know exactly what im talking about. Yes I used top 10, or would you consider top 900 as also being "one of the best"? 3. Producing a new cell phone is a different form of engineering to this. Exactly why the Chinese can open up as many German cars as they want to for inspection, but their products just aren't as luxurious as a Merc or Bimmer. This field of engineering requires dedication over the long haul, learning from mistakes, feedback, making changes. Not over night. Very simple. |

http://tass.com/defense/961892 "KUBINKA, August 24. /TASS/. South Africa is considering buying 12 transport and landing and assault boats from Russia’s Kalashnikov Group while Argentina and the Philippines want to buy 10 such vessels, Kalashnikov spokeswoman Sofia Ivanova told TASS on Thursday. "The Armed Forces of South Africa are considering the purchase of 12 boats of both modifications while the Philippines and Argentina want to buy 10 such vessels," the spokeswoman said at the Army-2017 military and technical forum outside Moscow where the Kalashnikov Group is featuring its BK-16 and BK-10 cutters. Kalashnikov Group CEO Alexei Krivoruchko earlier told TASS that the company expected to sign several contracts this year for the delivery of boats to foreign customers. The Kalashnikov Group produces the BK-18 multipurpose cutter, the BK-16 transport and landing boat, as well as the BK-10 high-speed assault boat and the BK-9 high-speed amphibious assault cutter." 1 Like
