Were they suppose to glue or tape those compartments together? Cos I don't get the point you're trying to make.

Glue or tape might have been better. If you don't get the point, it means there's really no need trying to explain. Just look at other similar vehicles and you'll see.

The Pentagon notified the US Congress on 28 August that it has agreed to sell 12 Super Tucano A-29 attack and reconnaissance aircraft plus related equipment including munitions to Nigeria for USD593 million.
Nigeria has been seeking agreement from the United States since 2015, specifically for use against Boko Haram militants, but the sale was put on hold by the Barack Obama administration due to concerns over the Nigerian military's human rights record. President Donald Trump signalled his support for the sale in a February phone call to his Nigerian counterpart Muhammadu Buhari, and the deal has moved forward STEADILY . DOES ANY ONE HAVE IDEAL WHICH RECONNAISSANCE AIRCRAFT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT?

so this is where the SAAF Cheetah ended up??

sad!! SAAF could as well given it to Argentina, Peru or Chile. Or some poor African country instead of letting it go to waste.

.
to think of all those cutting edge technology crammed into those planes.... sad

No. Cheetahs ended up in Ecuador. Not every air frame was salvageable, so they end up in such places.
Denel also uses one for tests.

August 4 :
- 5 armed criminals killed on a freeway shooutshoout

August 14 :
- 3 armed criminals killed on a freeway shooutshoout following a cash-in-transit heist minutes earlier

August 28 :
- 6 criminals after cash-in-transit heist

September 1 :

Job well done to the boys (and girls).

Please some education for you. If a manufacturer gives you figures. Always ask under what conditions those figures are valid. You will thank me

I don't know why you're still replying. You already proved your incompetence on the issue by saying all 250 lb bombs will reach same distance, under same launch conditions. They won't, some will fall at 30km, some at 45, some at 60km. All based on how they are engineered.

I know full well that range depends on launch conditions, but its not up to YOU to say 20km can be reached. You are clueless as to what launch envelope would be required to achieve that. It might not be possible.
Foreign Affairs / Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by ssaengine: 7:12am On Sep 01, 2017

LOL. Yes. They will travel same distance. [s]The way you should look at what was quoted by the manufacturer is a NOMINAL value rated to certain conditions. If I launch a glider or glide bomb rated 14km into a tail wind I can achieve even up to 20km. If however the control signals are such that they fade at 14km and that was the reason for rating it at 14km then that is a different thing because my glide bomb will just float away and get lost.

The glide bomb is a bomb on a kite. The weight of the bomb wants to bring it down, the wings will keep it up and other control surfaces will steer it. The distance, direction, impact point is everything acting together . The timing of the explosion is in the fuze[/s].

This is all I need to read to know you don't know what you're talking about. You got caught making stuff up, now you're sweating.

"They will all travel the same distance".... hahaha grin grin

Don't lecture an engineer about control surfaces pls. I said control surfaces and weather. Lift is higher when the weather is cooler, even headwinds or tail winds will affect range on a glide bomb

You are an engineer? Perfect smiley. Mr engineer, this should be an easy question for you. If all glide bombs on the market (let's say 250lb size) were released at the exact same height, under the exact same weather conditions, under the exact same launch profiles, will they all travel the same distance? Yes or No?

Easy question which you won't be able to answer. Again, you cannot just add 6km range to Paveway just because you feel like it. There is a specific reason the manufacturer said 14km.

It is a glide bomb, it will do 20km under the right atmospheric conditions and release technique.

Thank you Mr Paveway engineer. Why stop at 20? Why not say 50? If all glide bombs on the market are released under equal atmospheric conditions and release techniques, they'll all land at the same distance? Stop making stuff up.

You are just repeating what I said, using different words as if you first said it. Plagiarism.

Proforce website says all their armoured vehicles are built in Nigeria, tested overseas and pass relevant ISO ballistic standards. Get that into your thick head and stop repeating crap like you dont understant basic English or ISO meaning is beyond your vocabulary, it means International Standards Organization

Um....luckily the internet never forgets. Go back to that page. I repeated MY OWN WORDS. If you dont want to go back to that page, your problem. Others can waste data on you, Im done.

[s]=I wont repeat the post on page 1349, go back and see the ARA chassis details and get an education from it

=Heavily armoured chassis, armoured by Tarta of Europe

=Ballistic BODY is all Proforce needs do. Secret of MRAP tech is exposed in the photo below, its not space rocket science. Buy good chassis. Build ISO standard ballistic steel BODY bombs cannot penetrate. You have your own made MRAP, stop wasting money importing from countries fooling you that something mystery tech is in an MRAP

=You should analyse a vehicle from chassis, engine, gearbox up to body not from body only then the empty sky above it

=All Proforce armoured vehicles are built, tested, passed ISO international ballistic standards, go and read their website statement of standards again

=Survivability begins with engine, chassis, gearbox that will not fail in the terrible rough rugged roads and overheating temperature hot Sahel desert lands of Borno war zone, ARA has overcome that by using Tatra instead of Ford or Toyota, the Tatra has passed that test since 1923 before you were born

=I sympathize with you, RSA has lost the big Nigerian market, ECOWAS follow us, Morocco joins ECOWAS we take North Sahara, the sub-Sahara we have Rwanda, South Sudan, and we continue to expand. We overtook you in GDP we will do same in every aspect we compete. ARA MRAP will take over African market, Proforce is too determined and well funded with cash and tech to be stopped

=Bro, chill and enjoy ARA photos to avoid high BP[/s]

You quite literally do not know what you are talking about. This chassis has nothing to do with surviving a blast. Blast survival has everything to do with how well the body is engineered by Proforce. Simple

Saengine, you claimed early year, probably in 2016 that the significant order would soon be made by the SA military, not the navy. 8 months don waka, what's up?

Or was that claim part of your long running hallucinations?

I claimed an order would be made for OPV's or SANDF in general? The one item which I was punting was the ground based Umkhonto. Denel and DOD were pretty much married on it (unofficially) especially after the qualification test. But qualification doesn't mean a final product, so Denel is waiting on DOD to provide further risk assessment funds. As I know it, an estimated number of units had been agreed discussed, but DOD stalling.

So picture bleak/on hold as DOD has pretty much run out of new money in the past 12 months.

By region are you talking about Nigeria's neighbours? Tucano won't do that, JF-17 will.

Personally I dont join your guys in their unavoidable male ego boxing match. Observe, days after posting of ARA'e best new photos by Nigerians here, RSA guys largely disappeared for many days, no posting. Later appeared full force punching the ARA MRAP comments that they can find so called faults in. Nigerians never said its best technology in the world but one of the best and that is true because we posted official data and diagrams of ARA Tatra chassis here, European manufacturer claims one of the best engine and chassis: "TATRA has been manufacturing cars since 1897 and is the oldest automotive factory in Central Europe. The unique chassis concept has been continuously improved since 1923 – and to this day successfully imitated by no one." Anybody disputing those facts should kindly redirect their questions to Tatra head office in Europe. Also Nigerians said it will beat the best in sales in Africa's market based on available pricing facts, see PDF published by FMF on Nigerian budget for ARA, priced cheaper than competitors in the African market, what is wrong in predicting market sales if you are far cheaper? I don't see false claims by Nigerians on ARA except that you see it in the light of a type of claim an RSA guy would make.

Suddenly I read news here today from RSA guys that claim western standard technology going to buy simple eastern war boats from Russia for their westernized navy! I think the RSA guys are the ones who should cool down their claims of the best in weaponry. Just saying, not angry, not insulting. Thank you everybody.

The chassis has absolutely nothing to do with the survivability of the crew (which is the whole point of an MRAP). Survivability, and how this vehicle performs in the field will be all down to the engineering effort at Proforce, not the chassis they are using/imported. But choosing a good chassis is of course a good start.

And my last point on this topic, if you don't see any false claims then I clap my hands. Its not even a month, ARA has not been pushed to breaking point. Nigerian army has not given feedback yet, but already your market research predicts you'll take over the African market. Okay then.

Not to claim i am sad by this unfortunate turn of event for the SA navy, as i'll be lying to myself. However in my opinion the SA model of purchasing defence equipment in Lump Sum is not sustainable and should be reviewed.

The 1999 arms deal that got the Gripens and Valours was funded entirely by bank loans, which are still being paid to this day. It doesn't seem economical to follow the same route with the purchase of OPVs. Instead adding an OPV and an IPV every 2 years should be the best way forward.

Well, the pages of Nairaland can now rest after 4 years of non-stop hammering of Project Biro.

I wonder what you'll say when OPV is reinstated. And the request for IPV's, what did the article say? As already stated on Nairaland, funding for OPV's had already been shifted to 2018/2019 financial year. Not a single bolt had been purchased yet, and no company had started building anything. You are celebrating a non existant victory grin. OPV requirement is now gone, never to be seen again in a few months?

Also, I'm curious....which of the arms deal Gripens, submarines, Hawks or Frigates are still being paid for to this day? Kindly elaborate. Or again you made something up?

Let me explain to you. Your opinion was Ara can never be part of the world best MRAP because it's a new product.

My answer was simple and then you're here with your epistle.

The poster said

And you're here saying its not possible because it's our first attempt and I made it clear to you that being new in the game doesn't mean we can't produce one of the best and you're here telling me about top 10.

The poster said "one of the best" and "not the best or best 10"

You're just looking for a way to justify your pettiness. No one gives a damn if you've been manufacturing MRAP since 1920. We offer same protection as you and we can offer a product with a better specification.

1. I never mentioned my country in any of my comments. So that goes to show it was what you based your responses on "Nigeria vs South Africa". That's your baby, not mine.

2. Ignore simple facts if you want to. There is still a very long way to go for it to be considered one of the best, yes because it is brand new. Faults will still be found, changes made, and Proforce will have to adopt different assembly/manufacture techniques. Someone who works with sheet metal will know exactly what im talking about. Yes I used top 10, or would you consider top 900 as also being "one of the best"?

3. Producing a new cell phone is a different form of engineering to this. Exactly why the Chinese can open up as many German cars as they want to for inspection, but their products just aren't as luxurious as a Merc or Bimmer. This field of engineering requires dedication over the long haul, learning from mistakes, feedback, making changes. Not over night. Very simple.

"KUBINKA, August 24. /TASS/. South Africa is considering buying 12 transport and landing and assault boats from Russia’s Kalashnikov Group while Argentina and the Philippines want to buy 10 such vessels, Kalashnikov spokeswoman Sofia Ivanova told TASS on Thursday.

"The Armed Forces of South Africa are considering the purchase of 12 boats of both modifications while the Philippines and Argentina want to buy 10 such vessels," the spokeswoman said at the Army-2017 military and technical forum outside Moscow where the Kalashnikov Group is featuring its BK-16 and BK-10 cutters.

Kalashnikov Group CEO Alexei Krivoruchko earlier told
TASS that the company expected to sign several contracts this year for the delivery of boats to foreign customers.

The Kalashnikov Group produces the BK-18 multipurpose cutter, the BK-16 transport and landing boat, as well as the BK-10 high-speed assault boat and the BK-9 high-speed amphibious assault cutter."
