Whether SA was developed by the Dutch or Germans, fact remains ..she is our country..they made yours a zoo because you deserve such..do white Nigerians have anything on black south Africans?you are right we are inhaling generators smoke every night, enjoy your 24/7 electricity...am told black south Africans are queuing for asylums daily in Abuja..

I'd rather inhale generator fumes and queue in Abuja than to live as a primitive 21st century slave in my own land under white overlords. My country is a zoo, but it still manages to produce the most successful black people on earth today that you dumb SA's can't boast of despite your electricity. What's your end product and legacy as black people? HIV and apartheid?

True, but SA was developed and is run by your Anglo Dutch masters while indigenous SA's are suffering as dregs of society. Black SA's have nothing on Nigerians, deal with it.

Filthy hypocrite!
Stop being a cry baby. Your obas are a proof of your hereditary bigotry. Hate flows in the blood of the average yoruba. You mofos prove it time and time again so stop wailing like a deranged pig when you're given a pill of your medicine. Tell your sister to stop being an ingrate. She ought to be grateful they didn't wish her death. Something her people are well known for doing.
As for you, stop being a worthless coward. Come out with your bigotry. It's part of your culture, after all.

You're daft beyond comprehension, ignorant slowpoke...So a political statement made by 1 oba (with cowardly igbo elders present clapping and cheering him on like hungry sycophants), is now an accurate reflection of how more than 50million yorubas feel? Are you being stupid on purpose? I'm a cry baby, but your group of wailers consistently expose your madness and foolish nature on a yoruba mans blog by responding to a post about racism against a Nigerian with tribalistic primitive brain-dead responses.

If yorubas are so hateful and wicked, please tell me why many of you igbotic animals fall over each other to migrate to yoruba land like hopeless lost souls seeking salvation. We sympathetically accept you with open arms and allow you earn a living to feed your legion of starving apes back in your eroded, impoverished sewerland, and this is how you choose to repay us? Ungrateful gutter rat daring to call me a pig, a pig has more dignity and common sense than an average igbo parasite like you...despicable criminal minded scum of the earth, enemy of progress and Nigerian unity. I can't wait for 9ja to be rid of you biafradulent wailers and whiners, we need peace and less corruption/fraud in this country.

Besides, hasn't she heard "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger"?
Rubbish!

You are a slowpoke. The only people that can tell the tribes apart in Nigeria is Nigerians. The rest of the world whether ibo, yoruba etc we all see collectively as a Nigerian. We don't differentiate and honestly I don't think people care which tribe you are from as a Nigerian. We see you the same

Whats with the unnecessary shade against ALL Nigerians? We know how intolerant, shady and wicked a lot of u South africans are. Are South African men saints or any better than Nigerians? If they were many of u jobless SA hoes won't desperately chase us like flies chasing poo....Many of u have NEVER even been scammed by a Nigerian before, yet choose to peddle falsehood about us due to envy that a foreigner works harder and is more successful than u in your backyard..you low-lives want them to leave so as to claim whatever property they leave behind.

Your interview generally was a good one. However, I can pinpoint out two flaws which I think led the VO to deny you.
1) Discrepancy in your proposed course of study: the inconsistency in your spoken versus the written course of study may have impressed on the VO that you don't know your actual proposed course of study, which in turn tells her the student is unserious.
2) Your current job which is IT, is quite unrelated to your proposed course of study. I may be wrong but, your school name says Academy of Art University, which implies that the school is an arts specialty university. Meaning that the arts courses being offered relates in no way to IT, which is of the science cadre.

No, I don't think your high salary income affected your chances. Rather it would help to boost your chances because since you have a high-paying job it indicates you may not willing to abandon it, and hence indicating strong home ties.

I feel your problem was not being able to articulate the connexion between your current job and your proposed course of study when asked. I remember you stating that you explained in details the nature of your job which is IT. Maybe your course is science related, I don't know. But the university name indicates its an arts school.

Thanks for your analysis Francis, I agree with the first point you noted. Even though I told her the actual name of the course which is "web design and new media", it differed a bit from what was actually written on my i-20 which is "web page, digital multimedia and inform"...she being a novice might think I don't even know the course I'm going to study, that was the only awkward part of my interview. Next time I'll just state what is on the i-20.

As for your second point, web design is an Art within the science of IT, so its not out place for me to study web design in an art school. The school offers programming and content management systems courses too. However the V.O might not know this since she might be a novice in this field. If she had asked I would've explained the correlation between my job and course of study but there was no room for me to answer a question that I wasn't asked. Maybe next time I'll try to include that explanation when I'm asked a question. So you don't think the schools rep might be a problem like VIU etc?

PS:My job aint high paying at all oh, my bro earns abt 550k monthly working for oando so my salary na still chicken change. grin

Puvguy: @Stabbo disregard some the sly comments here. I think you should re-apply, and this time state what's on your I20, don't try too hard to impress. Be yourself and the visa will yours. Good luck!!!

Thanks a lot for the good advice, I already booked another appointment in Abuja this time cos there are no free dates in Lagos for the next 3 months or so. Plane ticket prices to Abj have shot up a bit so I don't want to waste funds on that + hotel charges and still end up not getting approved. I want to tie up all loose ends and leave no room for error this time around. I was thinking of starting again with another school from scratch but your comments have "gingered" me, so I'm heading to Abj later this month. God bless y'all

Overshoot? There are web administrators and developers that earn up to 350k monthly so I don't know what you're talking about, secondly will a V.O have an exact idea of how much a web admin earns per month in 9ja? I never knew a person earning 180-190k was considered too comfortable to travel abroad for studies.

Would like to know if your present job description is in anyway related to the course you were admitted for. Just thinking that could have been an issue since you briefed her about your work history. Amen to your prayers, my job is web/systems administration and I hold a comp science Bsc so it totally relates to my course, that's why I suspect its the school.

Send an email to selfstudy360@gmail.com and you'll get an immediate email response containing the download links for the GRE PDF books. Grubers, Barrons, Cracking the New GRE, GMAT etc are all included. You make your choice.

I urge you to drop your visa interview experience to enable us review your performance and advice you for a better one next time.

Thanks for the GRE link francis, my interview on May 8 went thus:

V.O: Gd afternoon, Me; Gd afternoon...I handed her my documents

V.O: Why are you going to the US?
Me: To study for my masters
V.O: What school?
Me: Academy of art university

V.O: Whats your course?
Me: MFA in Web design and new media (V.O then checks my i-20 again, the course name on my i-20 is "Web page, digital multimedia and inform",but the course name at the school and on my acceptance letter is actually "Web design and new media". She tries to confirm the name of my course and I explain to her telling her the actual name of my course which I was accepted for. She then says ok and continues typing on her computer.)

V.O: How long do you intend staying in the US?
Me: I intend staying for 2 years (On my i-20 it says 4 years but Im sure I will complete my requirements within 2 years and I dont intend staying for longer)

V.O: When are you resuming classes? I told her precisely when (At this point she was putting the green pick up ticket in my passport, then she continues on her computer)

V.O: Whos paying for your trip?
Me: My Mom

V.O: What does she do?
Me: She imports heavy duty vehicle parts and computer accessories from the UK)...She types on her computer briefly

V.O: What have you been doing since you graduated?
Me: I have been working (I briefed her on my work history precisely since I graduated in 2010)

V.O: How much do you earn monthly?
Me: 150k basic plus add ons amounting to about 190k (she then continues her typing for a bit and then says, "Im sorry but unfortunately I cannot grant you a visa at this time, Im very confused as I thought she was about to approve me and I then walk away dejected).

The interview was quite brief and I answered her questions as accurately and sincerely as I could, she didnt ask to see any documents and I got the feeling she wanted to approve my visa from her first impression. Please explain where I could've gone wrong and recommend correction tips for my next interview. Thanks a million.

My dear, the point is the school is a very low-ranked one-building 'university' which the visa officers don't regard. The admission process is way too cheap and easy and they give admissions too all John Toms, the admission criteria being just paying $200. grin Because of the ease of getting admission there, the VOs don't regard VIU prospective students as truly ready to learn but rather desperate potential immigrants seeking to escape from Nigeria. This always leads to visa denials.

Read the indicated pages on part 3 of this thread as Imperiouxx said. Many VIU students have gone to the embassy only to have their visas denied, they came here, got useful advice, reapplied to better schools, went for their interviews again and got their visas.

Imagine you're a Nigerian visa officer at the Nigerian embassy at say, South Africa, and you have prospective south africans coming to you for visa approvals. If you'd gladly grant those going to UNN, UNILAG, UI, UNIBEN, UNIZIK etc. their visas, would you also grant visa to someone who applied to one of these very low ranked Nigerian unis/polys or even College of Education? Won't he/she strike you as not being serious to study and having some other intentions?
.

Hello Big Francis please would you be kind enough to send me some preparation materials for GRE? I just got denied @ d embassy and would like to write the exams asap. Thanks

Hello imperiouxx, may God bless you for your benevolence and compassion for others on this thread. I recently got introduced to this thread after being denied by the us embassy in Lag. I just need preparation materials for GRE and tips on which schools are best to apply to for Msc. Computer science/IT...thanks a lot.
