Politics / Exposed!-men With Imo State Treasury In Their Pockets by steezzcom: 11:41am On Apr 05, 2011
While the people of resources rich Imo state wallow in the abject absence of basic social infrastructure, a few individuals led by the governor of the state Ikedi Ohakim are alleged to be riding high and gloating from their monthly looting of the resources meant for the state
According to a security analysis of the plundering that had taken place in the state in the last four years, lists as members of this cartel of looters governor Ohakim, George Egu, Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, in the state, Zick Martins Nnadozie, Ex-Officio member of the state executive committee of the party in the state, Tony Chukwu a contractor and Emma Ohakim Chief of Staff to governor Ohakim

Other members of the cartel include Kezie Ogaziechi, commissioner for local government, George Ilechukwu commissioner for finance, Longas Anyanwu commissioner for agriculture and Nnamdi Obiareri commissioner for agriculture and Nnami Obiareri commissioner for
The operation of this cartel was described in the security evaluation of the financial standing of the state as “callous and mean when it is time to loot the state”

The leader of the cartel is governor Ohakim. His modus operandi is alleged in the report to be “raw and unbelievable”. Sources in government in Owerri told 7AMNEWSEXTRA that “the way the man operates is straight forward, he introduces projects into the budget of the state which are approved by the state house of Assembly, then he refuses to award the contracts but continues to stock pile funds for the project, then towards the end of the year he moves out the money and then introduces a request to the state house of Assembly for virement of the funds to his office”

Once the money gets to his office on paper, the rest they say becomes history. In the real sense, 7AMNEWSEXTRA was told that he spends the money ahead of the virement approval and only resorts to the house of Assembly as an afterthought for approval.
“This is what has presently pitched him against some informed politicians in the state” our sources said. Through this method alone, Ohakim is said to have carted away N30 billion meant for the state. According to these Owerri sources the loot puts Ohakim heads ahead other citizens of the state in terms of riches.

Some of the property he is alleged to have purchased with some of these monies includes his palatial mansion on Haile Sellasie street in highbrow Asokoro district of Abuja and several other scattered in the USA and Europe.

Coming second to him in terms of wealth among government appointees is Emma Ohakim, junior brother to the governor and since the inception of his senior brother as governor his chief of staff at the government house.

He is said to be the defacto governor of the state and has hands in all government transactions. When he is not directly executing contracts he is reaping off the state through commissions on other contracts. The junior Ohakim is also said to be deep in a cartel within government that demands for upfront payment of royalties for introduction to the governor.
Conservatively he is said to be worth over N10 billion in earnings from all the deals and commissions that have passed through or around him. In Owerri he is reputed as the second richest person in his brother’s government though he claims to be an evangelist.
Before joining his brother in government he was a staff of the audit department of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN

Coming closely is Kezie Ogaziechi, the commissioner for local governments. How this man operates is very simply but the simplicity of his actions does not mean less earnings. According to a very reliable source Ogaziechi allegedly makes his money by delaying payments to the local government councils in the state by between two and three weeks.
As harmless as this may seem, it generates into a ubiquitous and specially created account, distinct from the Joint local government account, huge interests sometimes running into billions. This monthly Christmas bonus is then shared out according to an agreed formula between himself and others

Today he is alleged to be the third richest person in the Imo state government.
Next in the line of beneficiaries of earnings in government is George Ilechukwu, commissioner for finance. He was the commissioner of works before his present posting. Before joining government he had served as managing director of three banks, all the banks are said to be distressed today.

His modus operandi according to sources in Owerri is unbelievable. He is alleged to be Ohakim’s adviser in chief on bank loans. Even when allocations from the federation account had been released, he is said to be behind the many bank loans taken by the Imo state government. What happens our correspondent learnt is that, once the loans are taken, a well thought out agreement is reached with the banks on how much of the interests charge for the loans will come back to him and his co-conspirators in government

From such charges alone he is alleged to be the fourth richest person in the government today.
Next in ranking is Longas Anyanwu, commissioner for agriculture. He joined the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, from Accord party. At that time he presented himself as Longinus Anyanwu. His identity crisis notwithstanding he is a formidable member of the Ohakim administration.

His biggest earning is said to be from the fertilizer deal he brokered as commissioner for agriculture. The deal was so bad that when farmers tried to use the products they found mere dust inside the bags. No one in government asked questions. Over N2 billion naira was involved in the deal.

Another big earner in the government is Zick Martins Nnadozie, an ex-offico member of the state executive committee of the PDP in the state. He is said to be making his money from fat contracts from government that are hardly ever executed. He is feared by all because of his security links and contacts to men of the underworld. He was security adviser to the government of Achike Udenwa.

So is the secretary of the PDP in thestate George Egu. Also feared for his links with security. He is said to be very close to known criminals in the state. His is alleged to have made his huge earnings from the government through fat contracts to keep the party within the control of the government. Reputed to be a ruthless politician courted by every government in the state

And by far another major beneficiary of the government headed by Ohakim is Chief Tony Ojukwu. He is the main recipient of juicy government contracts in the state. His company is dredging the Nworie river project where several government billions have been sunk with little or nothing to show for all the resources.

He is the governor’s closest confidant. His company gets the right of first refusal on most government contracts that are never executed. He is believed to be laundering money for the governor.

Music/Radio / If Mi And Naeto C Are International, I Am Too – F Shaw by steezzcom: 5:07pm On Mar 02, 2011
F Shaw, real name Olufemi Adeyemi of “Moon Light Serenade” fame spoke to steezz.com recently about his music career. We particularly wanted to know what Nigeria music industry stands to gain from his entry into the industry. We wanted to know why people should pay attention to him and he responded by saying the music industry stands to gain a lot as his entry will expand the frontiers of the industry.  He even said Asa considers him dope.

“People should listen to me because there are not many of us out there. By ‘US’ I mean artistes that are conscious of their content. I hope to provide the balance between being lyrical, being authentic and being able to make people happy at the same time. I know it’s a cliché for artistes to say they bring new things to the industry but I’m not just another rapper and my content will prove that”  he told steezz.com.

F.Shaw who recently returned to the country from the UK after completing a post graduate in computer science said his music will be distinguished by his content. We then had to take him on what he thinks of the claim by MI that he MI and Naeto C are the only Nigerian rappers with international feel and touch to their music and he responded by saying that if MI and Naeto are international, then he too is.

"MI and Naeto? I don’t think he said that, or did he? I think what he probably meant was that they’ve got an international appeal which is true but they’re not the only ones who could cross borders. There are a few artistes who can, F.shaw, MI and Naeto included".

(Just in case you haven’t heard the song, here is the link to the song http://www.4shared.com/audio/yo51Onxs/Moonlight_Serenade.html)

So what do you think? Do you think MI is right to say only he MI and Naeto have international appeal and do also think F Shaw is right to demand inclusion?

Celebrities / Intoducing: Mohammed Jammal(white Nigerian) by steezzcom: 10:00am On Feb 01, 2011
I first came across White Nigerian on a blog which I cannot remember right now but on the blog was a youtube video of Mohammed Jammal hanging out with Aki and Paw Paw and another of him making a funny comparison between life in Nigeria and life in the UK. Come 9th of January 2011 during Lord Of The Ribs show at Sheraton Hotels Abuja, White Nigerian was introduced onto the stage by Basket Mouth and soon after that, an interview with him was hurriedly put together. Below are the excerpts from the interview.

BACKGROUND
I grew up within a family of 7 kids in Jos, where I lived for 18 years of my life. I attended Hillcrest School before moving to London where I graduated with a BA in Business Administration at London Metropolitan Business School. I later went on to do a Masters in Global Management at Regents Business School where I graduated with a 2.1 last year. Now I have moved back to home to start my career as I promised myself I would do.

THE NAME WHITE NIGERIAN
When I moved to London all my friends started calling me white Nigerian because it was the first time they had seen a “white boy” from Nigeria who speaks pigeon english and Hausa. Since then, everyone calls me the white Nigerian.

VOYAGE INTO ENTERTAINMENT
It all started with a video I made on youtube where I was speaking pigeon English and Hausa with Kevin Pam, the former winner of Big Brother Africa. I got over 20,000 views in the first two months of releasing that video. After that, Nigerian’s all over the world asked me to make another video, so I made one comparing life in London to life in Nigeria. As of today, the video has over 70,000 views.

I was then discovered by an events manager and was asked to perform on one of the biggest stages in the UK. Since then, other people have been contacting me to participate in their different shows and events. I have been overwhelmed by the demand I have been getting from event promoters and organizers to feature in their shows.

My first ever performance is the most memorable one. This was on the AY Show Live UK that took place at the 02 Arena, one of the biggest venues in the UK. I was able to share stage with Aki and Paw Paw, AY, 9ice, and DJ Jam Jam. Having Odemwingie come watch the show was also a bonus.

My performance at Lord of the Ribs that took place in Sheraton is also one that will stay with me forever. That was my first performance in Nigeria and it was an honor being introduced by Basket Mouth and sharing the same stage with my Jos boys, MI, Jessie Jagz, and Ice Prince.

Music/Radio / “i Used To Be Angry With Jeremiah Gyang” - Sgt-plus by steezzcom: 10:44pm On Jan 31, 2011
Sgt -Plus came with the hit track “Kauna Allah” featuring Jeremiah Gyang some years back which shook the music industry and after a little while, he just disappeared and left many wondering he went to. Unknown to many the young man had gone back to conclude his studies and now that he’s done with studies is out with a new single “My Sexy” featuring Shifi of Styl Plus and an album in the offing.

Kauna Allah was produced by Jeremiah Gyang and aside the original version, Jeremiah Gyang also did his own personal remixes of the song and so during our recent interview with him, we sought to know what the deal was between him and Jeremiah Gyang regarding the song. He said Jerry capitalized on his absence to exploit a song he paid him to produce for him. He said initially he was disgusted at what Jerry was doing but that right now, the whole thing only makes him laugh.

“Funny enough it was back then I used to look at what Jerry was doing (remixing the song) and get upset.

I used to be angry that he was capitalizing on my absence to exploit a song I paid him to produce for

me, but right now, the whole thing makes me laugh cos it seem to me like he didn’t have any other thing

to offer and that’s why he keeps going back to remix my song. That song was what took me to MTV Base,

MTV Alert 2006 and Planet 1 and I was the runner up after P Square”.

“Each time I go to perform that song with him, he comes around like the song is his and since he was

like the super star then people felt it was his. I like Jeremiah Gyang, he’s a good producer with great

vocals but sometimes his character comes to question. I’m not the first he’s done things like this to.

All the media houses the song went to know it’s my song even MTV Base and youtube. The truth is always

the truth cos one time when he tried performing that song at a show, the MC told him the song was for

Sgt Plus and he got embarrassed. Like I told you before I’m more mature now so the whole thing doesn’t

bother me anymore”.

He also said there is a possibility he might still work with Jeremiah Gyang in future.

“I don’t have issue with him, we’re still cool so we might still work together in future. As a matter of

fact he’ll be in my album cos Kauna Allah is going to be on my album. What ever happened between us was

just a professional beef”.

Below is the link to Kauna Allah and his new single “My sexy” featuring Shifi of Styl-Plus

Events / Glo Show Almost Marred By Violence by steezzcom: 7:35pm On Jan 20, 2011
On the 9th of January, Glo brought their show “Lord of the Ribs” to Abuja at Ladi Kwali Hall,

Sheraton Hotels but the show was nearly marred by vionlence.Trouble started when many people

with their tickets were refused entry into show because all the seats in the very large hall

were already taken. Those refused entry included holders of the regular 1,500 naira and the

5,000 naira VIP ticket. The bouncer shoved and pushed the surging crowd to no avail until a

senior staff of Glo had to allow all holders of ticket to go in. Needless to say they all had

to stand through the rest of the show.

Aside that snag, the show was a great one and was worth every naira and time. Basket Mouth

was the host and MC while DJ Jimmy Jatt was the DJ of the day and they both did a fantastic

job keeping the show lively. There was equally great performances by Naeto C, Ndumiso(from

South Africa), I Go Die, I Go Save, Bovi, CD John and many more.

A white comedian with the stage name Nigerian White Man was introduced during the show. The

last act of the night was the Choc Boys (MI, Jesse Jagz and Ice Prince). Unfortunately just

when they were getting into their performance there was a serious technical problem that

affected the microphones they were using. DJ Jimmy Jatt had to resort to playing their CD and

the crowd who were already very high on overdose of jokes sang and danced with them. The show

ended on a high note.

Celebrities / 2face No Longer Write Lyrics? by steezzcom: 2:53pm On Jan 10, 2011
T-Kross is a fast rising Abuja based R n B artist and in a recent chat with steezz.com said 2face no longer writes lyrics.

“When I recorded a track with 2face, when it was his turn to do his thing, he told me that for some time now he has not been writing lyrics, that he just goes into the booth and start free styling and that was what he did on my track. I was scared cos I didn’t want my song to come out bad but what this guy did in the booth was amazing, and the song came out well no doubt. After that experience, I simply told myself, the more you do it, the better you get at it”.

T-Kross even confided in steezz.com that he initially didn’t like the person of 2face but at a point couldn’t ignore him no longer.

“When 2face left Plantashun Boys I didn’t like him. With the whole negative media surrounding his departure and you know we could be sentimental sometime, so i didn’t care if dude could sing or not. But with time I had no option but to pay attention to this guy. I could no longer ignore the fact that this guy can vibe and has his own unique identity which could be seen in his albums”.

He concluded by praying that God bless him as he did 2face.

“2face is one artist that stands out. We were in a show together where he performed after me and you know, it’s normal to get the ladies cheering and crying but when you get the men responding and paying serious attention to your performance, then know you have crossed the line. That was what 2face did and I instantly prayed to God to give me that blessing in my life where I’ll get men to stand and recognize my music. If you want to blow, get the ladies and children to love your music but 2face has gone pass that level that leve”l.

Celebrities / The Audacious I Go Die by steezzcom: 2:42am On Dec 22, 2010
Joke merchant I Go Die was in Abuja on 12th December to headline a show tagged “I Go Die and friends” which was put together by Ejiro of Dolce Entertainment at silverbird entertainment center Abuja. I Go Die came with a bag full of jokes and was at his wit best.

I Go Die used the opportunity to air his personal opinion about some of his colleagues in the entertainment industry. He had very kind words for 2face but wasn’t so nice to D’banj. He took some serious swipes at D’banj, describing him as selfish. I Go Die see 2face as a very humble and generous fellow who has helped many in the industry especially the upcoming ones but sees D’banj as a complete opposite.

“2face is the baba and remains the baba. As big as and as talented as 2face is, he still helps upcoming artist to rise in the industry by featuring on their tracks and each time he does he gives you a hit. But for D’banj, no way, he’s only interested in himself and mohit”.
He went further to make a caricature of D’banj’s manhood.

“forget all that kokolet, mamalet and koboko things he says, there’s nothing major between his legs. It’s all a scam that he’s been using to deceive girls and when they finally enter the place and come out, they’ll start yarbing him behind his back. D’banj is my friend and I’ve seen it so I know. The thing there is as small as this my small finger. I like the fact that this show is being recorded because I don’t care who sees it or hear it. Somebody has to say it the way it really is.”

He didn’t stop there. He equally took a swipe at those who had the opportunity to help when he was trying to come up but didn’t.

“I’ll keep telling people to help those they meet on their way up cos they might need them in future. Just like when I was coming up, many acts that had the chance to help me rather blocked my way. I don’t want to name names but some of those people today I end shows for them. ”
