yinka2011:
greetings to all the winners in the house.

read this article today about MOBIL - NIPCO deal on easykobo.

please whats your take on this?

[b]July 13 (Lagos) - Stock of Mobil Oil Nigeria ( MOBIL ) rose almost 10% today at the Nigerian Stock Exchange in Lagos as NIPCO recently extended the offer to buy minority shareholders holdings at levels just below N 420 per unit.

The stock rose to N 259 per unit today at the exchange.

But it is still surprising that the stock continues to trade at levels sharply below the level at which NIPCO acquired the majority shares of MOBIL which was around the N 420 per unit levels.

In more developed stock markets, the moment it is announced that the deal was happening at levels above N 400 per unit the stock price would have jumped to those levels. In fact if such a deal happens, investors would quickly buy into the stock to make a short term gain from the deal.

That did not happen at the Nigerian Stock Exchange.

What do you think are the reasons for this anomaly? or are we just expecting a bit too much as regard to fair play for minority investors in MOBIL and we should know better?

So it is possible for a Private Company to acquire a public listed Company in Nigeria by buying shares at a much higher level than they are trading at the exchange in a private deal and such a deal would have no positive effect on the price of that stock on the floor of the exchange.

Everyday is a learning experience.

The qualification date for the Mandatory Takeover Bid remains April 10, 2O17. Hence it is only those whose names appear on the register on the said date that can sell to NIPCO.

OSIBANJO INVITES SARAKI & DOGARA TO ASO ROCK TOMORROW FOR SIGNING OF 2017 BUDGET.TIME:9AM.

How will our sentiment market respond to this tomorrow?

https://www.thecable.ng/breaking-budget-signing-cancelled?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+ThecableTopStories+%28TheCable+%C2%BB+Top+Stories%29

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo will no longer sign the 2017 budget by 9am on Thursday, TheCable can report.

A source had told TheCable that the budget was due to be signed on Thursday and that the presiding officers of the national assembly had been invited to witness the exercise.

But the presidency made a last minute cancellation of the exercise.

TheCable learnt earlier on Wednesday that a team from the presidency had met with the leadership of the legislature where it was disclosed that the budget would be signed the next day.

A source at the meeting disclosed that signning of the budget was the main issue that the presidential team discussed with the lawmakers.

But later in the evening, the leadership of the national assembly was informed that the exercise would no longer go on as planned.

A few days ago, there was a controversy over whether Osinbajo would sign the budget or not. But his aide, Laolu Akande, said he would do so when he is satisfied with it.

The national assembly passed the budget on May 11, and it was transmitted to the presidency on May 18.

MPC triggered? Was there a free-for-all or were chairs flying at the MPC today? grin

https://www.thecable.ng/breaking-cbn-mpc-holds-interest-record-high
The monetary policy committee (MPC) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) decided to hold key interest rate at record 14 percent, while seeking convergence in foreign exchange market.

Godwin Emefiele, governor of the apex bank disclosed this at the end of the meeting in Abuja on Tuesday, said all members of the committee voted to hold interest rate at current figures.

He said the committee decided to keep key interest rate at 14 percent, while cash reserve ratio (CRR) and liquidity ratio were held at 22.5 percent and 30 percent respectively.

http://nairametrics.com/cbn-reverses-ban-on-48-items/

Nairametrics. In yet another step towards a deregulation of the foreign exchange market, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has removed the 48 items from the banned list. This seems to be a prelude to a full deregulation of the foreign exchange market. In 2015, 48 items were banned including toothpicks, private jets and palm oil. Here is what we know about the just issued circular:

Importers of the items that were previously banned, will now be allocated $20,000 a quarter.
The importers will be required to provide Form Q.
Applicants for the foreign exchange would be required to have been account holders for at least six months.
Foreign account bank transfer details will be provided along with an invoice.

Ho would this affect Presco and Okomu Oil??

FG/EFCC/DSS/Police shouldn't take us for a ride. Identity of the recovered money owner ought to have been be gotten from the person who blew the whistle before the dramatic operation or Mu'azu who owns the house. Both are alive and hence no story except they want to cover up as the owner might be a member of the inner caucus.
