Computers / How To See The Photos Your Friends Are Hiding On Facebook by Stoja: 11:21pm On Jul 11, 2015
We’ve all done it. We have all hidden pictures from our Facebook Timeline for one reason or another. But those pictures may be more visible than you might realize.

Whether you hide tagged photos from your Timeline or simply leave tagged images pending approval in your Timeline Review, the truth is, if those images are still tagged of you in any way, more people can see them than you think.

Here’s how it works

Facebook’s Graph Search makes it pretty easy to creep on just about anyone, even if you aren’t friends with them, and find tons of images of they are tagged in.

By simply searching “Photos of” with the name of the person you want to search, you can see any image they are tagged in, even if they hid it from their feed.

facebook search screenshot - http://getlistednigeria.com/?p=24012

The caveat is if you are not friends with the person you are searching, you will only see images that are shared with the public or images that have been tagged by a mutual friend or a friend of a friend.

You’ll see all the images available, including ones that aren’t hidden from their timeline.

How to keep your hidden photos hidden

If you want to keep your hidden pics under the radar you can simply remove the tag. This will make it so the images are not searchable.

You can also adjust your privacy settings for "Timeline and Tagging" so that when you are tagged in a post it doesn’t get shared with anyone but you. This will remove all tagged images from your Facebook page, only allowing you to view them.

Facebook Search screengrab - see image - http://getlistednigeria.com/?p=24012

Keep in mind, though, that those people in the original poster’s audience will still be able to see the image if they perform a Facebook Graph search for your photos.
Health / SEE PHOTOS: White Man Shocks Doctors By Becoming Black After Operation by Stoja: 10:59pm On Jul 11, 2015
See Photos: http://getlistednigeria.com/?p=23620

A fair-skinned man, who was given a liver transplant from an African-American donor, claims the operation is turning him black, Krasnodar, Russia.

Semen Gendler urgently needed a liver transplant after being diagnosed with hepatitis C and cancer. As a transplant was his only hope, the man immediately went to America, where he was offered the liver of a 38-year-old African-American man. The life-saving operation, which cost him around $500,000, was successful and after awhile Gendler returned home.

Several months later his friend noticed some skin colour transformations in Semen. He said: “I noticed that his skin was getting darker. When he told me they had given him the liver of an African-American man, I guessed that was probably the reason for the colour change. I have known my friend for years and he has always been, if anything, extremely pale. Now for the first time ever he is becoming dark-skinned.”

While beign a little surprised with his skin colour changes Semen didn’t seem to care much about it. He said: “I could end up much darker than this to be honest, I don’t care. The main thing is that the liver works and I am healthy. It’s incredible, I am now so full of energy and living between two cities in New York and Krasnodar – and if my skin ends up dark, who cares. I certainly don’t.”

Touching story of a boy, Habib.

Efforts to speak with him proved abortive as he obviously looked too scared and very cautious to interact with strangers. Our reporter approached a trader Abdullahi (not real name)very close to the bridge, who by chance understands English and Hausa languages. After about an hour, finally the boy agreed to speak.

Speaking in Hausa, he gave his name as simply as Habib. He explained that he had stopped granting interviews to people. According to him, a lot of people have taken his pictures for different purposes.

He said: My name is Habib. Please i beg you, don’t take my pictures. I beg in the name of God. Many people have used my pictures for different things. Some people even use it to make money outside the country.

Asked how the ailment started, Habib said he was very young when it started. It enlarges as he grew older. “I just don’t know. This thing just started growing. My parents are in Sokoto. I just somehow found my way to Lagos with my brother from our state. He too is just hustling on the street.

Infact, i am the one that normally feed him and one other brother, from whatever people give me on the streets”, he lamented.

He also said he had been to hospitals in Sokoto, when he was younger, but his parents could not afford to pay his bills.“Yes, i have been to the hospital, but we do not have money to settle the bills”.

He continued: “Sometime ago, a convoy on the way to the airport stopped, and a woman alighted from one of the cars. She told me she was a pilot and would like to assist me. She took my pictures, she asked me questions and gave me some money promising to return to see me.

“After sometime, she returned and told me she spoke with former governor of Lagos State, Raji Fasola. She said the governor felt pity and they promised to invite my parents and get them a house, but I haven’t seen her since then”.

On the other hand, Abdullahi, who interpreted, said he had known Habib for some years now. He lamented that despite the fact that the boy begs just at the nose of Nigeria’s foremost hospital, Nigerians still neglect him.

He said: “This boy is not up to 15 years. I have known him for some years now. I pity him alot because he carries the hand on his head. It’s so sad, but there is nothing i can do. Imagine, this is the General hospital. People should help this boy”.

Habib is mostly around the General Hospital at Ikeja in Lagos, and pleads with the general public to come to his aid.

Business / All Nigeria Banks Swift Codes by Stoja: 4:04pm On Jul 07, 2015
Swift Code is a standard format of Bank Identifier Codes (BIC) and it is unique identification code for a particular bank. These codes are used when transferring money between banks, particularly for international wire transfers. Banks also used the codes for exchanging other messages between them.

The Swift code consists of 8 or 11 characters. When 8-digits code is given, it refers to the primary office. The code formatted as below;

AAAA BB CC DDD

First 4 characters - bank code (only letters)
Next 2 characters - ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 country code (only letters)
Next 2 characters - location code (letters and digits) (passive participant will have "1" in the second character)
Last 3 characters - branch code, optional ('Bleep' for primary office) (letters and digits)
Currently, there are over 40,000 “live” Swift codes. The "live" codes are for the partners who are actively connected to the Swift network. On top of that, there are more than 50,000 additional codes, which are used for manual transactions. These additional codes are for the passive participants.

The registrations of Swift Codes are handled by Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (“SWIFT”) and their headquarters is located in La Hulpe, Belgium. SWIFT is the registered trademarks of S.W.I.F.T. SCRL with a registered address at Avenue Adèle 1, B-1310 La Hulpe, Belgium.

Below are the SWIFT codes for all banks in Nigeria. These SWIFT codes are only the active participants who are connected to SWIFT network. The passive participant’s codes are excluded from the list.

Politics / President Muhammadu Buhari Done It Again! by Stoja: 3:12pm On Jul 07, 2015
http://getlistednigeria.com/?p=19483

President Muhammadu Buhari has yet again, proven that his election by Nigerians during the March 28 presidential poll was no fluke.

This was the assertion of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who hailed Buhari for coming to the aid of the long-suffering Nigerian workers with a multi-billion-naira package that will not only ensure that all arrears of salaries owed by many states across the country are immediately paid, but will also make it easier for the states to meet their monthly salary obligations henceforth.

Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party’s national publicity secretary, stated in a statement issued Tuesday, that the president’s gesture has proven to Nigerians that he is indeed the father of the nation and en exemplary leader.

“We say this because when states were financially handicapped during the tenure of the last federal government, opposition states were hung out to dry while states belonging to the then ruling PDP got generous bailouts.

“The PDP that spent the past 16 years plundering and pillaging Nigeria has boasted that the Nigerian people will soon come, cap in hand, to beg them to return to power. What delusion! What arrogance! Who presided over the looting and the mismanagement of public funds that made it impossible for the nation to absorb the shock of the falling oil prices?

“Who depleted the Excess Crude Account (ECA) without authorization? Who has degraded the standard of living of Nigerians?” the party queried via the statement issued in Abuja.

Buhari’s approval include: federal and state governments getting $1.7 billion out of the $2 billion remaining in the ECA; the sharing of about $2.1 billion sourced from the LNG’s payment to the Federation Account; and a CBN-packaged special intervention fund that will offer financing to the states, ranging between N250 billion to N300 billion, as a soft loan available to states to access for the purposes of paying backlog of salaries.
In addition, the president approved a debt relief programme that will help states restructure their commercial loans currently put at over N680 billion.

This implies that the life span of such loans will be extended, while reducing the states’ debt-servicing expenditures, thus leaving the states with enough resources (which otherwise would have been removed at source by the banks) to meet their monthly salary obligations, among others.

The statement therefore read further: “history is repeating itself before our very eyes. Some 31 years ago, Buhari, then as a military head of state, also inherited a huge national rot similar to what has been bequeathed to it by the NPN government and had to approve 480 million Naira for the payment of arrears of workers’ salaries. Truly, the President is a man of destiny.

In spite of all these, Nigerians are still unhappy with Buhari over his inability to stem the consistent attacks of islamic insurgents, Boko Haram, after their recent bombing left over 20 people dead in Zaria, Kaduna.

The 2015 edition of the annual bull festival in Spain ended in tragedy, as a bull pierce the body of three individuals which caused serious damage, leaving them critically injured.

The men which also included a Briton, were seriously injured today at the beginning of the yearly event.
According to a local government official, the man from the United Kingdom was gored “between the anus and genitals”, but stated that hope is yet to be lost, since the injuries were thought not to be life threatening.

The event at a point went into chaos as several people ran as they were chased down by the bulls. As a result, ten others were taken to hospital with injuries, including at least six who fell as they ran.
Officials of the Red Cross were on ground and immediately evacuated the victims to the hospital.

A spokesman for the hospital who confirmed the tragic incident said: “We have one person who has been gored in the chest, who is stable and will be operated on. The others have suffered facial traumas or injuries to arms and legs.”

It would be recalled that the event which is also known as San Fermin in Spanish have killed 15 people since it began in 1911.

Education / See Why People Ignore Pedestrian Bridges In Lagos by Stoja: 1:50pm On Jul 06, 2015
Lagos has been witnessing high rate of pedestrian deaths in recent times. In many parts of the city, pedestrians often risk their lives dashing across busy highways instead of using the foot bridges provided for pedestrian crossing. Why do some residents avoid foot bridges?

Though one cannot completely blame the Lagosians for avoiding the bridges, in many parts of the city, there are no pedestrian bridges in spite of the high population and the need for them. The dearth of pedestrian bridges has worsened the traffic situation because when people dash across major highways, it reduces traffic flow.

The dangerous part is that pedestrians are daily knocked down by hit and run motorists. Why are more Lagosians shunning the use of overhead bridges while preferring to risk their lives dashing across major highways?

There has been complains by Lagosians about the dilapidated state of the pedestrian bridges. Many of the bridges are in a state of disrepair. There have also been fears that one can get mugged at night.

Some Lagosians are not fit enough to climb foot bridges

But we must also have to give credit to the Lagos state government for constructing and renovating some pedestrian bridges in many parts of Lagos. The state and Federal Government need build more bridges to avert unnecessary deaths of residents.

Below are 10 top reasons why some Lagos residents avoid using the overhead bridges.

1. Bridges Are To High: Many Lagosians have complained that the foot bridges are too high. Indeed. It takes some physical strength to climb a foot bridge. But it is still better than risking one’s life dashing across busy highways.

2.Steps Are Uneven: Many of the bridges have become old and the concrete steps are worn out. Pedestrians have complained of missteps as the use the bridge.

3. Begging: Pedestrians avoid Lagos foot bridges because of harassment by beggars.

4.Overcrowded: Overpopulation in Lagos means that foot bridges are overcrowded and the fear that they may collapse is real especially for the old bridges.

5. Mugging: Lagosians have expressed fear that they can be robbed especially at night by street urchins.

6.Fear of height: Acrophobia, the fear of height is one reason why some Lagosians avoid the pedestrian bridges.

7. Dilapidation: Many of the bridges have become dilapidated. In some cases, there are gaping holes where one can see cars speeding past from the walkway.

8. Filthy overhead bridge: Some of the bridges are not clean. People leave all kinds of dirt and refuse on the walkway.

9. Impatient Pedestrians: Some Lagosians are too much in a hurry to meet up appointment that they prefer to risk their lives. But it is better to be late than be the late.

10. Lack of Fitness: Many Lagosians are not fit and thus find climbing the bridge burdensome.

But in spite of all the challenges mentioned above, it is still safer to use the pedestrian bridges. Not doing so can be dangerous. What do you think?

When it was first discovered that their mother, Mrs Tongue was expecting twins, the doctors revealed that there was a one-in-a-million chance that the babies, created with two separate eggs would have different skin tone. And then at delivery on October 2011 at West Middlesex University Hospital, London they almost looked identical.

Four years on, the difference is well pronounced as one skin and hair is dark like his father’s the other with blue eyes and light skin. They were from Feltham, West London born to mother Abigail Tongue who is white and father Richard George, 26, who is a mixed race.

It will interest you know also that, their personalities also developed differently with Bobby becoming very free and full of life while Riley more laid-back and dependent.

Mr George said “When she was pregnant we’d joke how one could be black like me and another white like Abbie but we never thought it would happen”.

About two years ago when Bobby broke his leg, staff at the West Middlesex Hospital did not believe the boys were twins they had to check Miss Tongue’s medical records to be sure.

She also told a newspaper: ‘I couldn’t believe I had two different coloured babies.

‘It’s so uncomfortable and awkward because they are insinuating I’ve had an affair. It can be quite upsetting, people not believing your child is yours.’

The couple also have a 17-month-old daughter Amelia who’s complexion is a combination of both parents.

Miss Tongue added: ‘We’re a special family, our two boys show that. The doctors said they’re one in a million – and I agree.’

Crime / Beware Of ‘one-chance Buses’ This Season Ooo! by Stoja: 9:40am On Jul 06, 2015
Muyiwa adejobi, Ogun state police public relations officer has warned the residents against patronizing buses at illegal parks as they stand the chance of become preys to armed robbers and rapists.

According to Punch, Adejobi said in a report on Sunday that rapists and armed robbers arrested by men of the armed force picked their victims from illegal motor parks and on the road side. This usually resulted into rape and loss of belongings.

He stressed that there was a clear link between crime and the patronage of these vehicles as most people became victims because they wanted cheap vehicles and would prefer to board buses by the road side instead of the designated parks.

“The command has deemed it necessary to sound this note of warning due to some intelligence and concluded investigation reports of some cases of rape, armed robbery and missing persons reported to the police in the state.

“Some serial rapists have made it known to the police that they usually picked people by the roadside, rape and rob them of their belongings before they would drop them off.

“strong link between the crimes and the patronage of unapproved parks

“Those, who had been victims, were those who usually stood by the roadside, looking for a cheap ride.

“The command wishes to appeal to the general public to always patronise government approved motor parks in all the zones of the state.”

Meanwhile, An American antiquated law on abortion has not in any way encouraged abortion by victims of rape. The United States Federal Red Tape in strong terms denies all women and girls raped and impregnated by terrorist captors overseas help to get abortion.

Technology Market / 10 Things In Tech You Need To Know Today by Stoja: 9:30am On Jul 06, 2015
Good morning! Here are the 10 things in tech you need to know to start your week.

1. Apple Pay is launching in the UK on July 14. There will be a £20 limit on transactions — but this should rise in Autumn.

2. A petition to have Ellen Pao removed as the CEO of Reddit has gained more than 100,000 signatures in 3 days. Last week, popular Reddit employee Victoria Taylor was let go suddenly — prompting a wave of huge protests from volunteer moderators, shutting down hundreds of the site's most popular communities.

3. Surveillance software company Hacking Team has been hacked. The Italian company provides law enforcement with tools for spying on suspects. 400GB of internal data including source data, emails, and other documents have been leaked online.

4. A decentralised media company is coming, venture capitalist Fred Wilson predicts. Wilson thinks that someone is soon likely to build a censorship-resistant media company using the blockchain technology that underpins bitcoin — making it almost impossible to shut down. He made the comments after the recent protests that have engulfed Reddit.

5. Hilary Clinton has accused China of "hacking into everything that doesn't move." The Presidential candidate was referring to the recent Office of Personnel Management (OPM) hack, in which millions of Americans' sensitive information was compromised.

6. Samsung is reportedly poised to ditch an extremely popular feature on its next phone. There's no official confirmation yet, but it looks like the South Korean electronics company might be getting rid of the stylus on its next device.

7. Music streaming is skyrocketing in Britain — jumping 80% in the last year. There has also been a 4% rise in overall music consumption.

8. Uber has suspended one of its services in France after drivers rioted in the streets. It's the latest growing pain for the often-controversial ride-sharing company.

9. A tiny change to a LinkedIn profile has sparked a ton of speculation about Jony Ive's future at Apple. Some people believe that the recently promoted Chief Design Officer might be preparing to resign.

10. Apple has filed a patent for a new feature that could kill off mobile payments apps like Venmo, Paypal, and Square Cash. It relates to person-to-person transactions.
