Beaf: Sanusi is correct. No nation can survive on an import dependent mono-economy. With all due respect Beaf, I dont think you understand Sanusi's point. That said, you are right, we need to diversify, but Sanusi's point is that we are spending too much and we cant continue to live like this for too long if the govt continues to spend the way they do. The problem here is that Sanusi is attacking the wrong people. There are other ways to raise fund, increase taxes on multinationals ( MTN alone sends 4 billion dollars to SA every year from Nigeria; whatz up with that?) Churches and other organized house of worship, we can also increase payroll taxes, reduce recurrent expenditures like someone said above, make the civil service more efficient by eliminating ghost workers, etc. Removing subsidy is inhumane and it will get us no where as far as spending is concerned. Why is Sanusi and his goons so fixated on the mere N880 billion that can be saved from fuel subsidy removal when they can save much more elsewhere? Wrong priorities! 3 Likes |

ola_pluto: The last video is very sad on many levels. A thug from NURTW actually sat in the House of Assembly chambers and IMPEACHED a governor voted by the people of the state. Obasanjo and PDP wrecked so much havoc in Yoruba land. How people forget so easily Did you watch Part 2? Way more entertaining. |

Procreation is a responsibility, not a right. Well shyting is a responsibility, not a right. All I know is that two consenting adults have the right to do whatever they want with their genitals. Its nobody's business if, when, and how people choose to procreate. Having more kids than you can afford is irresponsible.. Having less bodies than the country can afford will lead to underdevelopment. |

Callotti: You dont get it, do you? Tinubu's birthday celebration had N1 billion+ economic impact on Lagos. That is way more than Lagos gets in economic impact in a single day from those lazy street hawkers and half baked Nigerian graduates whose lives and movement were restricted. It is the opposite for Patience. Her economic impact was negative compared to Tinubu's birthday. |

Callotti: That is the problem, She is stingy as hell. If she had spent N1 billion dollar/naira on that charade, no one would be complaining. Its all about the Benjamins. |

Azikiwe Jonathan pays lower tax rate than his secretary ![]() Asorock said Friday that President Retardeen Ewele Jonathan has a lower effective tax rate than his secretary. "The president's secretary pays a slightly higher rate this year than the president on his substantially lower income," Asorock spokestransvestite Dr. Reuben Abati told CNNMoney. The president's secretary is name-redacted, and according to Asorock disclosure forms, the "personal aide to the president" earns N216,000 ( Minimum Wage) a year. The Spokestransvetite declined to say exactly what tax rate the aide paid. Earlier Friday, Asorock released Retadeen Ewele Jonathan's 2011 tax returns, which showed an adjusted gross income of more than N1 billion for the first Dr. Reuben suggested the president would be willing to pay less, if allowed, saying his situation illustrates "exactly why we need to not reform our tax code and ask the wealthiest to pay their fair share." On Wednesday, President Jonathan held an event at Apo Villa where he -- surrounded by administrative assistants and their millionaire bosses -- called for the implementation of the so-called Dangote Rule. The general principle behind the rule is that millionaires and billionaires like investor Aliko Dangote shouldn't pay a lower percentage of their income in federal taxes than middle-class households, and specifically their secretaries and concubines. http://www.tribune.com.ng |
