good afternoon everyone. I have a question, I have two study offers - 1 in Bydgoszcz (tuition 1620 euros inclusive of accommodation) and in warsaw (1750 euros without accommodation). I'm a healthcare professional and my intention is to work while I study. Considering language barrier, job opportunities, ease of arranging accommodation from Naija, living costs, etc, which option is better? I know this isn't the student page but felt since work is the motivation, and some people here already live in poland, I might get richer advice here. please offer advice. thanks. cc daddyemma justwise szczescie |
Politics / Born On Christmas Day, Murdered On Good Friday - Nigeria's Favorite Igbo Man by StubbornWife(f): 11:11am On Feb 16, 2021 |
Witty, self-vilifying short man and the S.I. unit of ebullience, the nation was brought to tears when his murdered & dismembered body was found strewn on railway tracks in Lagos on Fri Apr 8, 1955. Who was Israel Nwaoba Njemanze? Born on Christmas day in 1922 in Amaawom, Owerri to the Njemanze royal family, he also died on a Good Friday, betrayed at the age of 33 by an intimate member of his orchestra. I dare not say he was Nigeria's Jesus but the similarity still sends shivers down the spine of those of us old enough to remember. He was not born Nwaoba, he added it to his name during a visit to the Oba of Benin at the time. When he was introducing himself to the Oba, Israel humbly wanted the Oba to know that he was from a royal family and so he had added the word “Nwaọba” (son of a king) after Israel. He was the vocalist of a music group known as the "Three Night Wizards". He stood out as the pioneer of critical lyricism; packing his songs with comical but strong messages and brutal honesty. His height, tribe, friends and Lagos women bore the brunt of his sharp humour. When he was serious, politics was the topic. He used his music to mobilize support for Independence, praise and criticize politicians of the day like Zik, Awo, Akintola, Mbonu Ojike, and Amanze Njoku. He challenged all the politicians to uphold national unity, regardless of party. He warned men to be wary of Igbo girlfriends because they would drain their pockets, unlike Yoruba ladies, who would extract money under false pretences from her fathers and give it to their boyfriend And that Urhobo women were the surest option if one wanted a caring wife Despite their success, Israel announced that he wanted to leave for the UK - to study music formally - disputes soon followed. On Wed 6th Apr the group held a meeting at the residence of the band's treasurer, Samuel Jegede in Idi-Oro, Mushin to settle the dispute. Stalemate. On the morning of 8th April, his body was found on the rail tracks in Surulere - cut to pieces - 18 pieces precisely - apparently crushed by a train The problem was that the train had been delayed that morning. The accident arrangement had failed. The country was devastated. There was nationwide mourning with processions around Nigeria. Trial began. There were emotional scenes outside the courthouse throughout. Eight people including the band's treasurer, Samuel Jegede were charged for his murder and the jury found six of the accused guilty. two were discharged for want of evidence. The condemned men included Samuel Jegede (band leader), Michael Adeyemo (another member of Three Night Wizards), Dede Onolabi, Cyril Anikwe, Peter Nwangwu, and Lawal Dada. They were hanged at the Broad street Prison, Lagos…. The two discharged men died, one after the other, under mysterious circumstances within a few months after the judgement. Israel's body had decomposed significantly and could not be sent to Owerri, and he was buried in an unmarked grave in Lagos. He did not rise after 3 days. The motive for the murder is still blurry One angle is that is betrayed his partners and associates from a previous record label in the matter of a shady deal they had struck. Another is that a politician needed his persuasive tongue for rituals for the 1960 presidential election campaigns. Israel Nwaọba Njemanze had described himself in a song as equal to eight men despite his diminutive stature, and 8 men actually went with him. His death was an irreplaceable national loss and little was/has been done to immortalize him. Tribute to one of Nigeria's finest ever. The Three Night Wizards - Money! tensazangetsu20: I never suggested the military as an alternative, but rather a tweaking of the democratic style we practice. We picked the perks of British and American democracy and left the important checks and balances. If you analyse our woes as a nation, it stems from the enormous power that political parties have. The supreme court judgement that it is parties who are voted for, and not individuals, nailed the coffin on our hopes. This rubbish baboon could ruin our democracy only succeeded because the effective check - the legislature is in the hands of party faithful, with party supremacy prevailing over national interest. The baboon and his cohorts had whined that the 8th assembly in the hands of the opposition had frustrated his golden plans, now we have a 9th assembly that, for the first time in the history of democracy, has to apologise to the president for attempting to embarrass him by an invitation to appear and explain what he's doing to stem the rising spate of wanton killings. The financial and political muscle parties wield is too strong in an ethnically heterogeneous, multireligious, and illiterate society as ours - bearing in mind that they have no moral compass, but an inordinate desire for self-perpetuation and wealth accumulation. If we found a way to weaken political parties and promote independent candidature instead, the era of bringing nepotistic, corrupt, incompetent but loyal party-men would be over.. We wouldn't have to see elections as choosing between two lesser evils. It is a great insult on our sensibilities that despite the doldrums that we have found ourselves as a result of the clueless and insincere party and government in office, their governors still travel to other states during elections just to ensure that the party maintains a firm grip of the steering wheel as they lead us to destruction. In closing, the military is not an option, we are past the days of military rule. But don't you think we could benefit from a transition period, akin to rebooting the system in safe mode? In computer parlance, booting a PC in safe mode becomes necessary when there is an identified issue with a process running on an operating system, but the issue cannot be resolved because the process protects itself from being turned off - the process could even be a virus, so the solution is that the PC is turned off - killing all processes, then turned on with only selected processes allowed to run, so that the now-inactive bad process can be removed. More like a house arrest so you can search the office, you get the point, right? Conversely, our constitution is flawed, designed to give unbridled power to the ruling class. Most government policies are anti-people. You don expect these politicians to wake up and start changing laws that favour them - remember that they are immoral, valueless and not altruistic. A notable example is the issue of lawmaker salaries, who fixes the salaries? RMAFC! Who confirms the head of RMAFC and approves their operational budget? LAWMAKERS. Most of the allowances that lawmakers sit on are fixed by themselves and approved by the executive in their scratch-my-back-I-scratch-yours governing relationship. An aggrieved third party with the might, and a pool of violence to draw from, is needed to come in and boot the country in safe mode so we can attempt fixing what is broken, So, the military for an interim season, might not be such a bad idea. 2 Likes |
Politics / The Problem With Nigeria Is Democracy by StubbornWife(f): 12:54pm On Dec 31, 2020 |
The problem with Nigeria is democracy - political parties specifically.. The corruption, selfishness, repression etc are all sponsored and enabled by political parties and the alliances formed amongst members. Loyalty is to party ahead of the country.. There are no ideals nor plan, just corruption and self-perpetuation at any cost. That is why we can never have an effective legislature to check the executive That is why MDAs can never function; because recruitment and administration has been outsourced to party members Parties are the conduit through which funds are looted, laundered and deployed for rigging.. Why should the governor in Bauchi be bothered about Bayelsa elections when he has more pressing issues at home? Perpetual succession of parties is the reason why there can never be real accountability after a government has left office, because the roots are deep in the soil. Political parties and their central nature are responsible in the culture of nepotism and the feeling that some ethnic groups are more equal than others. With the high level of illiteracy in Nigeria, independent candidature remains the best option, because political parties are criminal enterprises established to exploit the citizenry, and that's why the stakes will continue to get higher. The evil is political parties and the earlier we weaken or rid ourselves of them, the better!!! 1 Like |

Yes, there are powers, there are forces, there is an afterlife. These powers are available if you are willing to pay the price, can you pay it? Blood sacrifices, rituals, the study of texts, drinking various substances amongst other things. It is not a path for the faint-hearted, so you must make up your mind. On the way, there would be a lot of charlatans trying to deceive you, but you must remain focused on the search for the truth. What is the truth? 1. There are powers to achieve whatever you want. 2. There is a price to pay, and it often involves blood. 3. What if I told you that there was already a package with all the steps completed? The ultimate sacrifice is the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross of Calvary. In all major world religions, when sin or curses are to be removed from a man's head, they use the blood of a goat kid or lamb or any other innocent animal. For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement (a covering) for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement (a covering) for your souls. (Leviticus 17:11, N.K.J.V. All major world religions including Christianity and Islam also agree that Jesus was sinless when he was on earth. He became that innocent animal that had to die, and as he died on that cross, he became the last time a blood sacrifice was ever necessary. Revelation 1:5: and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loves us and washed us from our sins in His own blood. As he rose up, he became a lottery for all men. No need to do any blood sacrifice for your sins or because you are looking for power. All you have to do is to receive Jesus because: - (But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: John 1.12) Since we all agree that there is God, imagine the power that you would enjoy as a son of God!! As a son of God, you have complete authority over all the powers that exist in the world, in fact, they all answer to you - (9.For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. 10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power Colossians 2.9-10 Eph 1:20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Eph 1:21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: Eph 1:22 And hath put all things under his feet... Php 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: Php 2:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; In fact, the ability to control spirits and demons isn't a big deal as you will see shortly - Luk 10:17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. Luk 10:18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Luk 10:19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Luk 10:20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven. The greatest trepidation a man can face is at his point of death, and the greatest peace is that of a dying man who is sure of where he is going. spirits can give you power to disappear, make people sick, vomit money, but spirits can never assure you of how your end would be. A time would come when the wealth acquired would mean nothing to you. I am writing these because the devil has no free gift, he comes to steal, kill and destroy (John 10.10). He makes his powers look attractive, disguising the names - natural magic, earth magic, white witchcraft, old magic etc. Baba na format. When you enter you no go believe how e go change am for you. You never wonder why the so-called babalawo wey dey run package for boys no dey use the package for themselves? Because even the bible in PROVERBS 10.22 says the blessings of God makes you rich, and he adds no sorrow with it. Meaning say e get the kind rich wey you go be ehn, you go dey cry on top. For for God side, whatever he give you na FREE GIFT. (Rom 6.23b) Use your head ooo... So you need the power wey God dey give, wey fit put you far above all the powers that this thread was created to advertize 1. Ask Jesus to come into your life - Forsake your sins and be born again. Romans 10:9-10 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. 2. Be baptized by immersion in water. Colossians 2:12 having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. 3. Receive the Holy Spirit. Acts 1.8 “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; Acts 2:38 Peter said to them, “Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 1Jn 5:8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one. The location was Ikom, Cross River state circa June 2014, I was at a vulcanizer’s along the Ikom — Ekok — Mamfe (A4) highway, I told him I was a doctor and we chatted away. While we yet spoke, a Toyota Prada SUV sped past, with 5 or 6 other cars in its trail — driving so dangerously that other cars had to veer off the road. The license plate was covered, we were also covered with the dust it had raised, then I noticed my vulcanizer friend was smiling and gesticulating wildly; “Na my town’s man be dat, first time our community get House of Reps member, at least, make our pikin still go there go chop money; na our turn”. Hon. Member could drive at top speed because we were on the good portion of the highway, though the nearby Calabar — Ikom — Ogoja highway was a death trap; a 4-hr trip taking roughly around 12 hours. For the average Nigerian, myself included, when any appointment is made or new policy announced, before checking the merits, we check the name of the appointee or beneficiaries, state of origin, tribe and if deductible from the name or the internet, his/their religion. Every national happening is viewed through the lens of its implications for the 2023 elections. Before common sense or truth can be applied, the question is — would it hurt my tribe’s chances of producing president? In the southwest, leaders and followers are increasingly worried that the ruling party might not honour its gentleman’s agreement to hand over power to the West in 2023; the issue is more distressing than food price inflation, shut borders, insecurity amongst other ills. In the Southeast, rather than collectively push for development from a government that has not minced words in stating that they might get only crumbs considering their meagre 5% contribution in birthing the present government, their leaders are bickering, scheming and crossing carpets in an attempt to be president in 2023; again, this is more important than fixing bad roads, insecurity, unemployment etc The political situation is unclear in the south-south, but like other Nigerians, people would rather sacrifice development on the altar of producing the next president. The north’s case is special. The presidency’s response to the shocking execution of 43 farmers on Saturday in Zabarmari, Borno state reeked of diplomatic-speak — describing the killings as ‘senseless’, weary of repeatedly threatening stiffer measures for the severely degraded Boko Haram, the blame was shifted to the security agencies adding that “the President had given all the needed support to the armed forces to take all necessary steps to protect the country’s population and its territory”, and concluding with “My thoughts are with their families in this time of grief!” Just thoughts, not intentions, not actions, not a live address, not a trip to the affected community. Thoughts. Cold, impersonal, self-absolving, from-a-distance, more like how the UK government would react to local issues in faraway North Korea. 43 slaughtered in an open field, 66 unaccounted for. The latest killings are a mirror image of happenings in the Northwest where bandits (or Boko Haram?) tax and kill farmers who insist on reaping where they have sown, but we live in denial refusing to admit that BH is now operational in the northwest and the whole of Nigeria, and also refuse to admit that the rising food prices are a product of the fact that farmers have been banned from going to their farms. If food prices are so high in harvest season, what would it look like during planting season? One of my patients from Dipchari even joked that they now kept Savings, Current and Ransom accounts, and insurance companies might need to look into providing Comprehensive Kidnapping insurance cover. Despite these, the communique released at the end of the recent Northern Governors Forum meeting was unequivocal in their main agenda that the recent #EndSARS protests were aimed at removing their son, the president, from power, and that there was a pressing need to regulate social media. The topics of rampant kidnappings, dwindling fortunes of agriculture and general economic decline were barely touched. 2023 election permutations are more important than securing lives, properties, highways and railways. I agree with the commonly-held belief that no one dies unless God permits, I would add that no one can eat unless God permits and no one can gain power unless God permits, yet, we go out to work so we can eat, we don’t wait for God to throw down a leader from heaven — we go out to vote, but when the topic of holding our own leaders to account is raised, the hypocritical Godcentric nigerian-ness is brought to the fore. While we continue our obsession with 2023, we might need to prepare for harder times as we continue to gloat over owing a big car that doesn’t have an engine. This is 2020, we still have three years to go…

Nowhere in the Quran is it written that Friday is a holy day or day of rest - because the quranic Allah didn't need to rest after creating his world.. Therefore he didn't command his followers to observe any day of rest. Observing Friday or asking for a work-free friday is an innovation and imitation of the people of the Book (Christians). Meanwhile, the NBC is clear on who regulates the media, though it isn't clear on who has control of violent mobs that can invade establishments and leave mayhem in their wake - over an issue they don't even understand 6 Likes |
Islam for Muslims / Re: Ruling On A Muslim Man Marrying A Non-muslim Woman And Vice Versa by StubbornWife(f): 12:11pm On Nov 27, 2020 |
I am not a Muslim, Jesus is the son of God, He died , rose after three days, ascended up to heaven and will return to judge the world. I will quickly point out something you posted from your religious text. “Made lawful to you this day are At‑Tayyibaat [all kinds of Halaal (lawful) foods, which Allaah has made lawful (meat of slaughtered eatable animals, milk products, fats, vegetables and fruits)]. The food (slaughtered cattle, eatable animals) of the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) is lawful to you and yours is lawful to them. (Lawful to you in marriage) are chaste women from the believers and chaste women from those who were given the Scripture (Jews and Christians) before your time when you have given their due Mahr (bridal-money given by the husband to his wife at the time of marriage), desiring chastity (i.e. taking them in legal wedlock) not committing illegal sexual intercourse, nor taking them as girlfriends” [al-Maa'idah 5:4] There is no food that is unlawful in Christianity. If we are to adhere strictly to your scripture it means Muslims are permitted to eat pork because it is lawful in Christianity [According to Jesus, it isn't food that defiles a man, Matthew 15: 11 What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.”16 “Are you still so dull?” Jesus asked them. 17 “Don’t you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? 18 But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them. 19 For out of the heart come evil thoughts—murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. 20 These are what defile a person; but eating with unwashed hands does not defile them.] Apostle Paul even went further in 1 Corinthians 8 and Acts 10 [ 8 Now about food sacrificed to idols: We know that “We all possess knowledge.” But knowledge puffs up while love builds up. 2 Those who think they know something do not yet know as they ought to know. 3 But whoever loves God is known by God.[a] 4 So then, about eating food sacrificed to idols: We know that “An idol is nothing at all in the world” and that “There is no God but one.” 5 For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as indeed there are many “gods” and many “lords”), 6 yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom all things came and for whom we live; and there is but one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and through whom we live. 7 But not everyone possesses this knowledge. Some people are still so accustomed to idols that when they eat sacrificial food they think of it as having been sacrificed to a god, and since their conscience is weak, it is defiled. 8 But food does not bring us near to God; we are no worse if we do not eat, and no better if we do. 9 Be careful, however, that the exercise of your rights does not become a stumbling block to the weak. 10 For if someone with a weak conscience sees you, with all your knowledge, eating in an idol’s temple, won’t that person be emboldened to eat what is sacrificed to idols? 11 So this weak brother or sister, for whom Christ died, is destroyed by your knowledge. 12 When you sin against them in this way and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ. 13 Therefore, if what I eat causes my brother or sister to fall into sin, I will never eat meat again, so that I will not cause them to fall.] Secondly, according to your text, a clear distinction was made between Jews, Christians and mushrikoons (idolaters) when prescribing that a Muslim man could marry the first two but not the last, so how was mushrikoon now expanded to include Christian men in prescribing that they cannot marry Muslim women? Can one of you please shed light on this? If Muslim women cannot marry Christian men because they are mushrikoon( according to your text) then Muslim men cannot marry [mushrikoon] Christian women [in line with your religious text]. Any other thing is hypocrisy. May the love of God our Father, as expressed through Jesus his Son, shine in all our hearts, Amen. FUN FACT: NO WHERE IN THE QURAN DOES IT STATE THAT PEOPLE SHOULD BE KILLED FOR LEAVING ISLAM. NO WHERE!!! 2 Likes |

Politics / Hon. Benjamin Kalu Disgraces Himself On TV While Defending Tyrannical NCDC Bill by StubbornWife(f): 7:23am On May 02, 2020 |
Hon Benjamin Kalu, a lawmaker representing Bende federal constituency, and the chairman of the Media and Public Affairs Committee appeared on channels TV to respond to the controversial NCDC bill before the house. Responding to VIDEO evidence that the bill passed a voice vote despite naysayers having a majority, Kalu stated infamously that "(a voice vote) is not won based on the loudness of the voices, but based on the number of the voices". He elaborated further by claiming that "the leadership had to listen very well to hear old legislators who couldn't shout, and when adjustments were made for these persons, the yays had it despite the nays sounding louder" The controversial bill, scaled 1st and 2nd readings without members of the house having a chance to debate on it. Sponsored by the speaker of the house, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila, the title of the bill suggests a repeal of the Quarantine act, and replacing it with a more powerful NCDC Act. Hon Femi's freudian slip during the presentation - " a bill for surveillance of propaganda" summarizes what the bill and its sponsors intend to achieve. Amongst other things, it vests limitless power on a Director-General who (or whose agents) would be able to declare any area an isolation area, obtain a corpse for an autopsy, detain citizens on suspicion of having an infectious disease - without a warrant, forbid any meeting, gathering or public entertainment under the guise of preventing the spread of an infectious disease, enter any private property to obtain any book, letter or report that the director-general feels is relevant in the discharge of his duties. The capstone is that, the DG and his agents are absolved of all form of liability that may occur as long as they were "acting in good faith". The proposed bill met stiff resistance on the floor of the house, and despite the naysayers having a majority in the voice vote, the bill scaled through. The bill bears a striking resemblance to a similar named bill passed in Singapore during the authoritarian regime of Lee Kuan Yew. This would not be the first time, the Nigerian Legislature has apparently plagiarized a Bill from Singapore, the infamous and vehemently protested against "Protection from Internet Falsehood and Manipulations Bill 2019" was also copied verbatim. It is assumed that NCDC Bill attempts to capture some of the sentiments of the rejected anti social media Bill. Many others see the Bill as a fresh attempt to stifle the media and citizenry in the face of worsening economic conditions and expected austerity measures as a result of a fall in the demand for Crude, and the ongoing pandemic. |
