Would like to know if the 5yr ban is still in effect for those who voluntary left, but had their tickets bought for them and how will they know when their ban will be over. Would one be given any trouble if they try to enter the united Kingdom again?

@ DobraDobra

I am not using a Nigerian passport, I was a Caribbean (Barbados) citizen when I went to the U.K, and Caribbean citizens are visa free for 6 months and yes my fingerprints were taken before I left, but when I plan on visiting Nigeria, the flight from Barbados arrives at Gatwick and the ongoing flight to Nigeria leaves from Heathrow. Would that be a problem

Hi I would like to know if I would be allowed to transit through the UK. I overstayed and left voluntarily, but through the assisted program. I.e. my ticket was bought for me. Right now I live in the Caribbean where we do not require a visa to go the the UK and want to visit Nigeria, but have to pass through London. Would that be a problem?

Hi, someone here on this forum was saying that the IOM does not classify as a state funded return. Is anyone sure of this?

Hi , I am trying to get some information on my situation. I overstayed in the UK for some years before leaving through an agency called the IOM (who sponsored my return) in 2008 before the new laws came out. I hold a Caribbean passport which means that I can visit the UL 6 months visa free. My problem is that I do not know if the IOM qualifies as a state funded agency, and if I would be turned back when I get to Gatwick. Can anyone help me>

@ceasyc
I really want to know if you are sure that the IOM is not a state funded organization, cos I am thinking of trying to go back soon after 2 years of being away. Can you find out for me please.

@ceasyc
I also forgot to tell you that I left with the IOM giving me a ticket home. I did not any funds from them.

@ceasyc
Sorry I did not mean to offendyou, but what I meant was if you had been able to go back, and if you had found out for sure that the IOM was not state funded, cos I saw somewhere in the new immigration laws that they apply to people who leave via VAARP (or something like that, which is what the IOM does). I would also like to know if the fact that I have a passport for a country that does not need a visa to the UK, would that make any difference?

ceasyc:

ty but i understand now that IOM is not state expense n not organised/owned by UK
@ceasyc, I would like to know how you got through your problem, cos I am just like you where I left the UK via the IOM, but I left in Feb 2008 just before the law came out, even though I had overstayed. I would like to know if the ban applies to me and if the IOM is viewed as a state funded departure.
