Nollywood actor Yul Edochie is reportedly grieving over the loss of his first son, Kambilichukwu Edochie. According to sources, the young boy fell unconscious while playing football and was rushed to the hospital but did not survive.

Kambilichukwu had spent the night before his tragic passing studying for an exam. After completing the exam, he joined his friends to play football when he suddenly had a seizure. Despite the best efforts of doctors at the Mother and Child Hospital, Kambilichukwu could not be revived.

This heartbreaking news comes just two months after Yul Edochie and his first wife May celebrated their son's 16th birthday with heartfelt messages of love and blessings. The family has yet to release an official statement about their loss, but fans and friends of the actor have taken to social media to offer their condolences and support during this difficult time.

Three people, including a former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, have been found guilty of organ trafficking under the Modern Slavery Act. Ekweremadu, 60, his wife, Beatrice, 56, and Dr Obinna Obeta, 51, were convicted of facilitating the travel of a 21-year-old Nigerian street trader to London with the intention of exploiting him for his kidney. The verdict was delivered at the Old Bailey after a six-week trial.

According to the prosecution, the three individuals treated the young man and other potential donors as "disposable assets – spare parts for reward." They entered into an "emotionally cold commercial transaction" with the victim, who was brought to London to have his kidney removed for money.

The prosecutor, Hugh Davies KC, stated that Ekweremadu, who is a successful lawyer and founder of an anti-poverty charity, showed "entitlement, dishonesty, and hypocrisy." Despite helping to draw up Nigeria's laws against organ trafficking, Ekweremadu agreed to reward someone for a kidney for his daughter. Davies told the jury that "her clinical needs cannot come at the expense of the exploitation of somebody in poverty."

During the trial, Ekweremadu denied the charges, claiming he was the victim of a scam. Obeta, who also denied the charges, said the young man was not offered a reward for his kidney and was acting altruistically. Beatrice denied any knowledge of the alleged conspiracy. Sonia, Ekweremadu's daughter, did not give evidence.

The judge, Mr Justice Jeremy Johnson, will pass sentence at a later date. The verdict is significant as it is the first conviction of its kind under the Modern Slavery Act, which was introduced in 2015 to combat human trafficking and modern slavery.

A family has been thrown into mourning over the demise of their 19-year-old daughter, simply identified as Precious Agbokhade.

It was gathered that Precious was on Sunday, July 17, raped and stabbed to death at her residence in Agenebode, Edo State. A source reports, “Precious was the only one at home as her parents and siblings had gone to church.

Two Nigerians have been arrested on suspicion of plotting to harvest the organs of a child in the UK.

Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu, 55, and Ike EkweremadIke Ekweremadu, 60, both from Nigeria, have been remanded in custody and will appear at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court later today.

They are both charged with conspiracy to arrange or facilitate travel of another person with a view to exploitation, namely organ harvesting.

The Met said a child has been safeguarded. Scotland Yard has not given the gender or the age  of the child - or the location of the arrests.

But given the suspects are appearing in court in Uxbridge, it is likely they were held at the nearby Heathrow Airport.

Organ harvesting involves removing parts of the body, often for cash and against the victim's will.

Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu, 55, and Ike Ekweremadu, 60, both from Nigeria , have been remanded in custody and will appear at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court later today.

The investigation was launched after detectives were alerted to potential offences under modern slavery legislation in May 2022, the force said.

In 2017 a former Nigerian government minister claimed that migrants from his country were having their organs harvested after being sold into slavery.

Femi Fani-Kayode, a onetime aviation minister in Nigeria, claimed that 75 per cent of slaves who have their organs harvested in North Africa are from his country.

The Cambridge University-educated lawyer added that the victims have their 'bodies mutilated' and are 'roasted like suya [shish kebabs]'. He went on: 'Roasted alive! This is what Libyans do to sub-Saharan Africans who are looking for a transit point to Europe.

'They sell them into slavery and either murder, mutilate, torture or work them to death.'

Iran has announced that its military 'unintentionally' shot down a Ukrainian jetliner, killing all 176 aboard.

The statement, run on Iranian state TV, came on Saturday morning and blamed "human error" for the shootdown.

The jetliner, a Boeing 737 operated by Ukrainian International Airlines, went down on the outskirts of Tehran during takeoff just hours after Iran launched a barrage of missiles at US forces in neighbouring Iraq.


Iran had denied for several days that a missile downed the aircraft. But then the US and Canada, citing intelligence, said they believed Iran shot down the aircraft.

The plane, en route to the Ukrainian capital of Kiiv, was carrying 167 passengers and nine crew members from several countries, including 82 Iranians, at least 63 Canadians and 11 Ukrainians, according to officials.
