Business / 100% Safe & Easy Way To Avoid Fraud When U Buy/sell To Sm1 On Nairaland by suoaz: 8:13am On Feb 06, 2021
Bola transferred #65,000 to an online seller on Instagram as payment for hair she had ordered and the moment she got the debit alert, she suddenly realised she had trusted blindly. What if the seller doesn't deliver? What if the seller delivers 12 inches of fibre hair instead of a 20 inches super double drawn bone straight hair she ordered and just paid for? She was sure she got a good deal and was proud of her bargaining skills but now she felt foolish. The seller agreed too easily, now her pride had turned to fear. What if she had already been scammed? Well she saw testimonies from acclaimed buyers but what if they were made up? She was to expect the delivery within 48 hours, so she just had to be patient.

Before she began her 48 hour long wait, she decided to confirm if the seller had received the money she paid. So she tried messaging the seller.

Why no reply? Why can she no longer see any posts from the seller? Did her data get exhausted? Or was she blocked? At this point she had to put on her glasses, her worries had doubled. 48 hours came, then 48 days came and she didn't get her order or a response from the seller. Unfortunately even in 48 years, she wouldn't have gotten her order.
Don't trust blindly, don't be like Bola...secure your purchases using escrow and be sure to get a full refund if the seller does not deliver as promised. Middletrust is the most reliable escrow service in Nigeria.

Business / How To Take Your Business To The Next Level For Free(go Big) by suoaz: 5:58pm On Jun 23, 2020
As copied from medium.com/middletrust
If your here, it means you want to take your business to the next level. Gain new customer’s loyalty. And turn your existing customers to your testifying advertisers.
With the rise of social media and the internet, your customers’ options for getting products and services have increased. They can now buy from a hundred other shops selling the same product/service as you. And if your business isn’t keeping customers loyal, then you lose customers.
With these following tips, you’ll learn how to gain customer loyalty and make your existing customers preach about your business.

1. Offer more value.
If your business is offering the same product/service in the same way as your competitors, it becomes easy for your customers to leave.
Stand out of the crowd, be different.
If you intend on standing out and being a customer magnet, offer more in value and exceed expectations.
You can give more value by offering better quality at the same price.
Also, make the extra effort to find out your customer’s specific needs. Or a benefit your customers want and deliver on it.
Another brilliant way you can offer value is by offering emotional customer service. Be cheerful and friendly.
Customers patronize businesses they know, like, and trust.
Offer a discount; send surprise mails on your customer’s birthdays to show that you care.

2. Create an Unforgettable Business Experience
How do you make your customers feel after doing business with you? The answer to this question determines if they will tell others about your business, or if they will forget about it.
You should have a unique experience that is engaging, reliable, trendy, and unique to your business.

3. Design Your Receipts as Customer Feedback Questionnaires.
What better way to know your customers like or dislike than by asking them?
Use your receipts to ask your customers questions about their business experience with you.
Give them the feeling that their voice is being heard and acted upon.
With their permission, you can use it as testimonials to show that your customers love your business, but don’t make your customers feel like they must answer your questions. Always tell them it’s optional.

4. Make Your Customers Life much Easier.
You don’t always have to worry about making sales, and expect that your customer’s needs and the sales target will take care of itself.
If your customers come to you because they love shoes, then send newsletters or write blog articles about the latest trendy shoes.
Make it easy for your customers to benefit from you, even when they’re not buying. And you’ll be the only option when they do buy.

5. Create a Secure Payment Channel for Your Customers.
Your customers should always feel safe doing business with you. With the number of fraudsters and scam deals on the rise, it’s only normal that it scares customers to do business with you.
Luckily for you, Escrow services help you build transparency and trust with your customers.

Escrow companies like Middletrust ensure secure business transactions and give your customers complete confidence to do business with you.
We hope you equip yourself with these few tips, act on them, and turn your business into a customer magnetic sales machine.

If you ask for US Samsung S10 and seller says he has it (he doesn't have the US variant but global version but him wan sell and will think you won't know which is which).

You use Middletrust to hold the cash and he delivers (Middletrust might charge you even for failed transaction). You inspect product and it isn't US Samsung, you go on Middletrust and say product wasn't what you wanted, you return it, Middletrust gives you your money.

Seller might curse you and your generation, you will look for another seller that have the US Samsung S10 or you use the money carry boys enter club.

Sometimes, you go into a business transaction and you’re not satisfied with the outcome.
Maybe; the goods you ordered weren’t complete, the car you bought last week developed a fault, your tailor did an awful job, or the guy you borrowed money failed to pay back. Or worse, you got scammed.
It happens to all of us. These are some of the reasons you need to know about Escrow.
Escrow is not so popular in the Nigerian market. And most people either don’t know about it, or they don’t understand the importance of the concept.
In this post, we’ll define escrow, give a real-life example of how businesses use escrow today, and explain why escrow is important and how you can start using escrow in your business transactions.
What is Escrow?
Escrow is an agreement between two parties, the buyer and seller, in which they invite a third party to hold all the money/assets until both parties complete the transaction, to protect them from being scammed and making sure everyone keeps to their end of the bargain.
A bit confusing, right? Let me break that down for you.
The buyer pays to the third party, not the seller. After receiving payment, the third-party informs the buyer and tells the seller they have received payment. Then, the seller has to send the goods to the buyer. When the buyer gets the goods and is satisfied with them, she then notifies the third party. And finally, the third party pays the seller.
It’s simple; Escrow is the neutral middle body that makes sure you’re satisfied with every business transaction.
Escrow receives all the information about the transaction, ensures all instructions, terms, and conditions are followed and documents for the transactions are handled properly to close the deal without a problem.
Real-Life Example of Escrow
Let’s assume you want to buy a used car. Remember, most used cars usually have a fault the seller won’t want to tell you about.
Instead of paying directly to the seller, you deposit the money in an escrow account. And attach conditions to the sales agreement. The conditions might be that the seller has to repair all faults the car might have, paint the car, and complete all necessary documentation.
Then, the Escrow Company will not pay the seller until he completes all sale agreements. And the escrow provider will not refund back your money until the seller fails to meet the specified agreement.
In rare cases when the buyer lies about not being satisfied, the seller and the escrow company can analyze the sales agreement. And if there’s proof that the seller settled the terms, the escrow company will pay the seller regardless.

Why You Need Escrow?
Now you know what Escrow means. You might doubt why you should abandon your current payment process and embrace the security escrow assures.
Escrow sells itself.
With escrow, you can dance into any business transaction without the fear of being scammed, with full confidence that you’ll come out on top and get your money/asset’s worth.
Let’s imagine a before and after scenario.
Before, if the seller didn’t meet the agreed terms, you had to pester the second party to get your money/asset back. Most times things get rough and you end up losing on many sides.
But with Escrow, no need for asking the second party for your money. If the terms of the agreement aren’t satisfied, you can notify your escrow company and your money will be returned to your account. Like it never left!
How much are Escrow Fees and Who Pays?
The fee for escrow services varies with different escrow providers.

For example, Middletrust, Nigeria’s most reliable escrow service provider, charges 2.8% + ₦200 on every transaction.
This fee is capped at ₦8,000 meaning that ₦8,000 is the highest amount you’ll be charged for using Middletrust.
The fee can be paid by one party or shared by both parties, depending on the initial agreement between the buyer and seller.
How does Escrow Work?
You know a lot about how Escrow secures your financial transactions and make sure you never get scammed or defrauded.
But you might ask, what’s the way forward?
You finally want to explore this unfamiliar world of secure business deals, but you don’t know where to start from.
The first thing to do is to know what to do. So, here’s what you should know about securing your next business deal as a buyer/seller.
For Buyers:
Agree on price and term with the seller
Sign up on Middletrust
Fund your Middletrust account with the amount required for the transaction
Create a transaction, stating the price, terms, and other details
Wait for the seller to agree on the transaction
The seller delivers the product and you inspect it to make sure it is exactly as agreed
You approve to complete the transaction
Middletrust pays the seller
For Sellers:
Agree with the buyer
Sign up on Middletrust
Accept the transaction
Deliver the product
Wait for the buyer to approve
Get paid
Which Escrow Provider Should You Use?
There are a lot of escrows providing companies in Nigeria, but Middletrust offers you the best value for your money.
Bank-Grade Security to ensure that your escrow account is safe from unauthorized access
As much as ₦10 million insurance on your transaction which ensures that your never lose your money even in a worst case scenario
24/7 support so you’re never left in the dark.
Instant notifications so you can track every level of your transaction.
A dispute resolution specialist to intervene in case of a misunderstanding.
These are a minor part of what Middletrust offers.
But don’t take our word for it. See for yourself.

Well I just ordered one from a Nairalander from uyo enrouting Ibadan. Used GIG logistics. Since on Monday and when I tracked it this morning, it got to Lagos today and enrouting Lagos to God knows where before it gets to Ibadan.
1 terrabite
16gig ram
2.90ghz
Nvidia dedicated graphic
Almost new. Well the Nairalander did an amazing job of leaving asaba for uyo cos the system was in uyo.
Got to gig and we did video call and all.
After confirming payment, he processed the system. He could just walk away with his system after confirming payment but he said he has a reputation to protect
Why leave such an awesome laptop and your money to chance?

"What's the worst that could happen?"
This question is so encouraging and a confidence booster.
As a programmer, my laptop is my woman, my everything (in Wandecoal's voice). I have been without one or two weeks (20,160 minutes). I hope my now bad laptop rests in peace, it had served me for over three years (she was faithful).
On Instagram, I came across an online store called "Legit laptop007" (the name sounds legit right?). There, I saw my dream laptop for the perfect price, it was too good to be true. An HP Spectre Pro X360-Intel Core-i5 pro with 500GB SSD and an 8GB ram for just #105,000. It wasn't brand new (even if i sold my destiny, it won't be enough to afford a brand new one), it was UK used but at this price, I would be cheating the seller. I decided there and then to get it, time to empty my little savings and get to work again. There was just one tiny but significant problem, I had to pay before delivery but can Legit Laptops007 be trusted?
"What's the worst that could happen?"
My mind was made up to go ahead and pay but I decided to call a friend and seek his opinion (I didn't plan on taking his advice if he said "Don't trust legit laptops007"wink.
"Tony, my big man friend, how far na?" I greeted him.
"O boy, everywhere good oh. How work na?" Tony replied.
"Bad oh, my lappy spoil for good two weeks now and I never fit work but I just see one wen I wan buy online but na pay before delivery." I said.
"Hahaha, online sellers these days no dey do pay on delivery, everybody dey try save him head oh."
"So I no get choice na, na to close eye buy am be dat". I quickly replied happy to assume he agreed with me.
"Another option dey sha, you fit use escrow" Tony said.
"Watin be E-X-C-R-O-O?" I asked in surprise
"Na company wen dey act as middleman as you wan buy something so when you no trust the seller, you go pay give the escrow company then when you get the laptop say e legit as the seller promise, dem go con give the seller him money."
"Na free?" I asked without thinking
"Hahaha, free tin no go kill you, no be free but the company wen I dey use, their own charge dey very low, their name na middletrust, you fit check their website middletrust.com." "Them dey try" He added.
"Hmmm, OK na, you too much, I go check them out." I thanked him and ended the call.
People do say I am stubborn, in fact I know I am stubborn. After checking the company out, I must say I was impressed but that was their business not mine and the stubborness in me said:
"What's the worst that could happen?"
So I decided to put my trust 100% on Legit Laptops007. I transferred #105,000 plus #1,000 delivery fee (from Lagos to Benin City) and they promised to deliver within 3-5 working days. Five days later, my laptop had not arrived, I could have sworn I was beginning to lose weight. On the 6th day I got a call from a delivery company to come collect my package.
"Yes! I didnt need an E-X-C-R-O-O afterall." I thought
I got my laptop, it was red rather than black as agreed but i didn't mind, I plugged it to full charge just before the power went out (This is Nigeria!). I quickly checked the SSD, it was 256GB and not 500GB, the RAM was 4GB and not 8GB. I suddenly began to worry.
I looked at my laptop screen again and my jaw dropped when I saw:
"Your battery is running low (10%). You might want to plug in your PC."
I quickly grabbed my phone, got on Instagram and went to the page, was about to lay my complaints when I noticed a statement on the page:
"STRICTLY NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES"
Again, I thought;
"What's the worst that could happen."
