Islam is one of the most populous Religions. It is Religion founded by Mohammed(PBUH).

The most popular phrase you will hear in this religion is "It is the Religion of Peace." Is it really about Peace? I will let you answer this after reading this article.


Evidence and Inference Supporting Islam as the Religion of Peace.

This article was written by scielo. cl[1]. It lays claim that it is the Religion of Peace. Also quoting Qur'an 42:40, "those who forgive the injury and make reconciliation will be rewarded by God.” According to the Qur'an passages quoted in the Qur'an, it does not endorse violence but rather advises Moslems to live in harmony with one another and with non-moslems.

Many parts of the Quoran advise against violence. Instructing its followers to abide by rules and live in harmony.

Below are the words of Pope Francis when asked if " Islam is a Religion of War?" :
"Social injustice and idolatry of money were among the prime causes of terrorism. ‘I think it is not right to identify Islam with violence,’ he told reporters. ‘This is not right and this is not true… I think that in nearly all religions there is always a small fundamentalist group,’ he said; and referring to Catholicism, he added."

‘I don’t like to talk about Islamic violence because every day when I look at the papers I see violence here in Italy – someone killing his girlfriend, someone killing his mother-in-law. I know it is dangerous to say this but terrorism grows when there is no other option and when money is made a god – and it, instead of the person, is put at the centre of the world economy. That is the first form of terrorism. That is basic terrorism against all humanity. Let’s talk about that.’  This was his view on Islam.


Do Moslems Follow Peace Teaching Of the Koran?

The first question that needs to be answered first is, " what causes violence in an individual"? Is Religion? Is it nature? It is a tribe? It is nationality? Is it a personal choice?

Should Islam be blamed for the violent behaviour of its followers? What do you think are the answers to these questions?


Many factors influence the behaviour of an individual. Religion is included. Personal traits are included. Back to the question. Judging from past and present events Moslems do not follow the Peace and harmony preached in Koran.

They are making Islam a religion of violence instead. My convictions come from real events. Which you are not blind to.

Since Islam preaches Peace and we are seeing the opposite. Who/what should be blamed? This shows that other factors are involved. Personal traits and behaviours are involved in violence. Religion convictions remain the number factor. No greater factor controls the behaviour of individuals than religion.

Evidence Supporting Islam as Not Religion of Peace.

Gathering evidence to show the violence caused by Moslems with the excuse of their religion is numerous. Ranging from organisations like Al Quaeda to ISIS to Boko Haram to Taliban. Single individual's actions are not hidden. From fighting for Mohammed because of a cartoon[3] to the recent burning of a female student in Nigeria[4].

The Meaning of Islam and Jihad.

The meaning of Islam itself should not be confused with peace. I have come to the knowledge that some people seem to believe that it means peace or is synonymous with Peace.  The word Islam means to surrender and the original meaning of Muslim is "someone who was made safe through surrender[5].

Jihad means Strive or struggle in Arabic.

Just like most religions, every action is backed by their scriptures. The order to kill can be found in their scriptures. The law to love can also be found in the scripture. It is a general confusion with Religion. It is not akin to Islam alone. Let's examine the the Quaran and Hadith.


Here Quaran is encouraging Fight in Islam.

Q 2:216-218:

Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you… Indeed, those who have believed and those who have emigrated and fought (jihad) in the cause of Allah – those who expect the mercy of Allah. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.


Here Quaran is encouraging followers to fight.

Not equal are those believers who sit (at home) and receive no hurt, and those who strive and fight in the cause of Allah with their goods and their persons. Allah hath granted a grade higher to those who strive and fight with their goods and persons than to those who sit (at home). Unto all (in Faith) hath Allah promised good: But those who strive and fight hath He distinguished above those who sit (at home) by a special reward. (Q 4:95)

Still supports for Jihad in Islam in Quaran.

A man came to Allah’s Messenger and said, “Instruct me as to such a deed as equals Jihad (in reward).” He replied, “I do not find such a deed.” Then he added, “Can you, while the Muslim fighter is on the battlefield, enter your mosque to perform prayers without ceasing and fast and never break your fast?” The man said, “But who can do that?” Abu-Huraira added, “The Mujahid (i.e. Muslim fighter) is rewarded even for the footsteps of his horse while it wanders about (for grazing) tied in a long rope”. (Bukhari 5:52:44)

Quran Advising Islam followers to Slain Non-believers.

But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful. (Q 9:5)

Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel subdued. (Q 9:29)

I learn't that in Islam ‘Jizya’ is the Islamic subjugation tax to be paid by Christians or Jews who have accepted the subjugated status of ‘dhimmi’.

O Prophet, fight against the disbelievers and the hypocrites and be harsh upon them. And their refuge is Hell, and wretched is the destination. (Q 9:73)

Allah hath purchased of the believers their persons and their goods; for theirs (in return) is the garden (of Paradise): they fight in His cause, and slay and are slain: a promise binding on Him in truth, through the Law, the Gospel, and the Qur’an: and who is more faithful to his covenant than Allah? (Q 9:111)

Still support of violence in Islam.

O ye who believe! Fight the unbelievers who gird you about, and let them find firmness in you: and know that Allah is with those who fear Him. (Q 9:123)

The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is execution, crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter. (Q 5:33)

Quran violence instruction to Islam.

Q 8:12:

I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieved, so strike [them] upon the necks and strike from them every fingertip.


These include: “to make the people worship Allah alone”, “Frightening the kuffaar, humiliating them and putting them to shame”, “Acquiring booty”, and “Taking [i.e. making] martyrs”.

Here killing should continue until the unbelievers pay the Jizya after they are humbled or overpowered. If the purpose of killing was only to acquire permission and freedom of preaching Islam, it would have been saying: “until they allow for preaching Islam”.

Here a Twentieth-century Orientalist and historian Henri Lammens says:

The JJihad The war against the non-Muslims, so frequently recommended in the Medinese suras, almost became, as with the Kharijites, a “sixth pillar of Islam”. Islam owes to it her expansion, in which “the mission”, properly

Lots of them still take it serious. An online fatwa responds to the question: “Was Islam spread by the sword?”:

Undoubtedly taking the initiative in fighting has a great effect on spreading Islam and bringing people into the religion of Allah in crowds. Hence the hearts of the enemies of Islam are filled with fear of jihad.

It evidential from it's writings that the Quaran supports violence. Many Moslems may be loving people but Islam itself is not a religion of peace. It can be anything but not peace. Do not take my word for it but check your surroundings, news and tell yourself the truth.
