The Challenge of Nigeria

Tantalizing nature and shifting goals by military regime (IBB). Palpable reluctance to disengage after years of political experimentation

Our best and brightest became disenchanted with politics; collapse in quality of political leadership.

Poor nature of leadership recruitment in political parties; incompetence as order of the day.

Contemporary Politics defined by Money and violence, leading to corruption, impunity, loyalty to person not nation/political party.

Nature of FGN today described as “Incestuous self-preferential insularity”.

Everyone or group pulling in different directions: North – South, Christian – Moslem; Ethnic Nationalities, etc; Internal dissent even within respective groups (Ndiigbo)

Erosion of core national and human values; Youth anger - #EndSARS; Separatist movements; unbridled display of wealth and power in midst of poverty and squalor.

In 20 years, Rwanda has re-united after a most gruesome ethnic genocide. Nigeria has deteriorated over the same period.

Nigeria failed to diversify its oil wealth (compare with Norway, Kuwait, Malaysia); Other missed opportunities.

Fossil fuel is fast being replaced by renewable, sustainable energy. IEA Net Zero target for emission is 2050.

Will Nigeria be part of the 21st century 4th Industrial revolution already sweeping the World: Knowledge-based economy!

Knowledge is the greatest Capital in 21st Century (India, Korea, etc).

Not for inadvertent politicians with no clue of the 21st century world.

Modern management is based on planning and goal setting, requiring accurate data and knowledge.

President Joe Biden’s 4-year agenda, visioned beyond 20 years, was presented to Congress immediately he took office.

Who will redeem Nigeria?
