Career / Human Resources Software: This Is What Determines Business Success by TalentBaseHRIS: 12:27pm On Mar 01, 2016
Employee engagement is the emotional commitment an employee makes to the employers organization. This commitment tends to affect the employees behavior and the amount of effort put into the work assigned to them. This means that the employees actually care about their work and are not just working for the paycheck.
Employee engagement in your organization results to:
Less absence days
Over 51% higher productivity
Business success, higher profits and performance

Business owners know that their employees are their biggest asset. Therefore, it is very important to engage them in various ways. The question is, how can HR Technology help you drive employee engagement? Here are a few ways:

HR Applications:
HR Applications allow employees to access any HR related data across any device anytime, anywhere. This comes in handy when employees are trying to request a leave or look up a co-worker's information. This platform offers secure and easy access to the employees.

Collaboration Tools:
HR Technology provides collaboration tools which allows employees to stay connected to their employer and co-workers. Collaboration tools help speed up a two-way communication between employees anywhere they are and at anytime.

Online Portals:
Online portals make it easy for businesses to share information with their employees. All the information is usually gathered and stored in a central location which allows the employees to easily access any information. This engages employees as well as saves time and eliminates the occurrence of human error.

As seen, an HR Technology goes a long way in engaging employees. This is why many Nigerian businesses should invest in it.
A good HR Software should be able to help you engage your employees in the following ways;
Create custom forms for various employee requests
Define and request supporting documents where necessary
Set approval process on each type of request
Receive SMS and email alerts
Instantly process requests and send updates to employees
Access historical records on each employee
Generate reports and access data analytics

HR Managers are often buried in tons of administrative work which consume a whole lot of time. This time could be spent on other functions that are of importance to the business. Implementing the right HR Software will help educate and engage employees which in turn saves time. Thus, making HR Technology a key contributor to effective human resources management.

Yes. SLACK is a good tool and it is free. It is a bit similar to Asana in some ways.

At this very second, there is someone, somewhere in Nigeria trying to cut cost and save money. It could be swapping a Chapman for a bottle of water or taking a bus instead of a taxi, either way, money is being saved. The current global economic crisis has become quite bearing on Nigerian businesses, with services costing more than they usually did in the past. Businesses are faced with higher costs of operation compared to about a year ago. Business owners are now looking for creative ways to cut costs.

Here is a list of online tools that can help startups save a lot of money.

Asana: To save money, many business owners have employees that work remotely. When you have five or more employees scattered across the country, it becomes hard to track their work. There is actually a cost free solution to this problem. Asana is a web and mobile application that enables teams work together virtually. Tasks can be assigned to different employees with different due dates and conversations can be held around different tasks. It is literally a virtual office.

HRIS: HRIS stands for Human Resource Information System. It is a system that allows HR Processes and activities to occur electronically. While some startups still handle HR processes manually, adopting an HRIS can save your startup a whole lot of money in the long run. Good HR Software will help; increase productivity and employee morale, reduced errors, improve employee retention and promote efficient recruitment strategies; which all adds up to lowered business costs.

Wave Accounting: Lackluster accounting can be found in many Nigerian businesses. Many startups do not carefully think about bookkeeping and in some cases, the business owners fail to separate their finances from that of the business. Part of this issue is that many feel accounting is a tasking process that requires an expensive professional (it actually does). However, to cut costs and execute simple bookkeeping, Wave Accounting is a web application that allows businesses keep records of their accounting from any computer with internet access. It separates services, invoices and accounts. It presents simple forms that can allow an accounting novice enter transactions and other financial information, generate invoices and issue receipts of payment.

This list is not exhaustive, as there are so many available cloud solutions providing affordable and free Software As A Service (SAAS) that can allow business owners get more for less. However, the most affordable way to build your business is to engage in personal development. Learn about different aspects of your business, gain knowledge on all facets of your operation and you can finally assist yourself and your business to be efficiently productive.

Career / Why It’s Important To Have Accurate Staff Records by TalentBaseHRIS: 12:16pm On Feb 12, 2016
Long gone are those days when employers had to keep massive files containing information on their employees. Most successful businesses now rely solely on HR software which makes HR processes a lot less stressful and a lot more enjoyable.

Basically, there are two types of staff records:

Personnel Files; These include basic information, employment-related agreements, job performance, hiring documents, compensations and termination/post-employment information.
Confidential Files; These include medical records and other documents that contain sensitive data. Therefore, it is important those documents are stored the right way.
Without accurate staff records, it is impossible to monitor each employee’s performance. As we all know, the success of any business is highly dependent on each employee’s performance. That is why it is necessary to have such records. Staff records can help managers or business owners decide on who to retain and reward, who to caution and who to lay-off. It is safe to say that accurate staff records contribute immensely to the productivity of any enterprise.

Accurate staff records allows Employers or HR Managers easily access any employee’s files whenever with just a click of a button. This helps reduce administrative tasks and paper work which will in turn lead to lower business costs.

Accurate staff records can help minimize employer-employee dispute. Most HR software allows the employer to keep records of punctuality, attendance, leave information and so on. This can help provide concrete evidence for dismissal of claims and restore peace in the work environment.

Maintaining up-to-date staffs records will help streamline every administrative work, save time and business cost. Employers who fail to keep detailed and accurate staff records, subject the business to huge reputational and financial risk which might be very difficult to recover from.

Good HR software can help your business maintain Accurate Staff Records. With features such as auto-back-up, secure access, integrated calendar, SMS and email reminders, your business will be void of any form of risk relating to poor record-keeping.
