You need to make some basic findings before putting up stuffs on a public forum like this, to avoid misleading newbies. There are many errors in your post but I'll quickly point out the obvious ones.

First and foremost, HTML and CSS aren't programming languages. Get the difference between a markup language and a programming language.

JAVASCRIPT is not just for client side, it is used for both front end and backend.

Python is not just a server side programming language, in fact, backend is just one of the many wonders Python can do. It is a general purpose language.

Lastly, C++ is not just used for desktop applications. It is used in writing OS, DB etc..
I know but... They will learn as they go further into them

I just got a Redmi 9A device and I can assure you guys that all these hype about Xiaomi Redmi phones are mere propaganda against Tecno.

I used spark 4 air for sometimes which I got for 30k before lockdown and I can say that that phone is better than the expensive Redmi 9A of 40k.

Well, my focus is on Huawei and Xiaomi Redmi phones. I currently use an old honor 4 phone by Huawei and the phone is having network issue. No 3g or 4g reception. I have been using my W2 as hotspot so I can use the honor 4 to browse.

The so much hype about Xiaomi phones by *Non Marketers* made me to pick something from Xiaomi and I am not wowed.

* Camera synchronization is zero compared to my honor 4.

* Apps open slower than my honor 4 that has been warning me to free some space.

* Display resolution of 720*1600 is wack compared to honor 4's 720*1280

*Image quality of video and camera is very poor compared to honor 4.

*It is heavy.

Compared to my spark 4 air, it has no finger print sensor, no ear piece, no data bonus from any network operator for new phones etc.

It is just a device. I am yet to see the importance of helio G25 that out perform A22 or A23.
itel A12 performs 100% better than Xiomi or whatever it is called.

I'm talking about getting a job quickly without a computer science degree. Javascript would get you there quickly.
Also when it comes to building things and getting results immediately, javascript is way better. Java is more of a backend language, but javascript motivates you from the very beginning with what you can build.
If the op has learnt PHP, then learning javascript before java would be a better route in terms of becoming a web developer.
You have a point

OK, you should learn HTML, CSS, JAVASCRIPT and Python

If you want to cover all to be employed then you have to also learn PHP.

And visit question and answer sites such as stack overflow, free code camp and github if you are confused.
A hint, to be a self thought programmer, download this app solo learning.

Just start with HTML and CSS, then start visiting question and answer sites like: Stack overflow, free code camp and github, go into server side language and learn JAVA simple.

I can personally lead you through HTML, CSS and PHP, without you paying. You don't also have to pay for the sites I mentioned.

Programming / Top 10 Programming Languages To Learn by talkcash: 4:06pm On Aug 26, 2020
Programming can be easy, hard, frustrating and confusing but if you learn these languages as listed you will be on track.

1). HTML
Html is the simplest language to learn. It is mostly used for defining other languages that run on web.

2). CSS
This comes after HTML, it is used to beautify a html code, that is why it is called cascading styling sheet.

3). JAVASCRIPT
Javascript is a language that is used for client side scripting (OOP scripting). This language is among the top three best languages among the history of programming, it can do almost everything in the back end area, plus it is easy too.

4). Python
Python is a server side language, it is good for pretty much everything but is a little bit difficult to learn. Python is good in both web development and android app development

5). Ruby
Ruby is a language used for web development ONLY, it is a pretty old language but some people use it.

6). PHP
My language, PHP is also a server side language just like Python. It can partially be used for mobile app development.

7). JAVA
Java is used for developing android apps, and will soon fade away, many apps are developed with java.

cool. Kotlin
Kotlin will be the language to take over JAVA, because it is also used for app development, and is user friendly too.

9). Swift
Swift is used for making IOS apps that is apple apps, to learn swift you have to have experience of java and Kotlin.

10). C++
This is used for developing windows applications, it is pretty difficult, TRUST ME!

I choose it since I was in jss1 just because of the colour the notepad brings when coding then, but now I want to be an app and web developer.

but the journey is quite challenging because I only have a midrange phone.
If you are based in Enugu, you can always come to Micromedia computer school to code with their computers. grin

Hey, guys I was going through YouTube and there was a video that I saw.

WHY PEOPLE SHOULD NOT LEARN TO CODE IN 2020

When I saw this I was like, what type of person would say this
And it wasn't even that he had concrete points to defend what he was saying.

Please my people, tell me isn't it programmers that make all these apps that we are using and yet to use

Isn't it programmers that made all these social medias available for use like Seun that made Nairaland forum, Mark Zuckerberg that made the famous Facebook.

Isn't it programmers that will continue to make apps until forever

Even apps used for making apps were made by programmers, true or false

When I saw it, I got so angry being a fellow programmer.

My point is if you are going to post something, make sure you are ready to defend it with strong points.

<!--Good day or night my people !-->
<!--If you have anything that you want to use and defend this topic of defend that guy!!! quote this !-->

1). I do not know where to start from, but...
I started coding since I was 9 and was learning HTML and CSS. From there I started learning JAVASCRIPT, and stopped for a while but still got right on track.
After learning JAVASCRIPT I jumped right into PHP and all of this happened within 2 years time, now I am working on a social casino website. Let me skip to the point,

2). what made me gain interest in programming was the fact that my family is revolving around computer, my dad owns a computer company and my mom is a computer analist. I like watching cartoons, which they code code a lot in.

3). Some steps for learning how to code are, 1. Start with the basics like HTML and CSS.
2. Don't be afraid to ask questions on websites such as: Stack overflow, free code camp and many more!
3. Go into JAVASCRIPT and finish it, if you are confused don't forget to ask questions.
4. Learn a server side scripting language such as: PHP, MYSQL or Python.(I recommend Python, because it is easier)
5. Learn Java (I recommend solo learn app)
6. If you learn all of these, then you are good to go and learn other languages such as: Swift, Kotlin, C++, C#.

My name is Victor Onwe and thanks for reading.

this arguing won't solve anything, because both of you are strictly talking from POV, it doesn't make anybody right

I believe we're programmer here, we solve problem, a guy suggested social media development which might not be the best option, even if u develop it successfully what hosting cost, marketing, e.t.c development is the least, why do u think Nairaland has so few users despite the fact that there are same people with multiple moniker, apart from bad UI, the old guy is growing organically.

another person suggest alot of ideas that are worth discussing, Nigerian programmers suck because lack of collaboration, and everybody just want to feel superior, after years of coding I realized that I am not that good, I just needed smarts.

every body want to freelance, some even want to build a whole startup for 200,000 - 500,000 alone...

if
let us catch a big fish by working together
else
we will keep nagging and pointing fingers when we are all responsible

Bottom line
let work together to build a tools not SoMedia let change the status quo.

some guy mention Nigeria using others tools

I would rather use others tools than reinvent the wheel
let's link up na, so that we can find a way to combine every thing in one, so that we will make something different and still add social media in it.

Stop decieving urselves.

Nigerian programmers are the worst and that is just the plain truth.

That assertion has been proven time after time. And what the op typed is another proof of the mediocre nature of nigerian programmers.

Just imagine another social network. For what purpose exactly that the existing ones cannot cater to. All you are after is how to charge money for ads. That single thought alone has blocked all the innovative, entreprenuerial, futuristic and problem solving ideas and concepts from filtering through
great indeed
continue decieving urselves. Shior
You should tell that to ur negative self.
