Nigerian govt draws up plans to reopen schools, submits to National Assembly
The Federal Government, on Tuesday, submitted proposed guidelines for the reopening of schools in the country to the National Assembly.

The Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, made the presentation during a meeting with the Senate Committee on Basic and Secondary Education.

Nwajiuba explained the ministry’s plans for students to resume to the lawmakers.

Schools were closed down in March, as part of measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 in Nigeria.

“In the document provided, we have suggested how we can move our education sector forward during this pandemic.

“We don’t want to make it known at this time so that some people will not take our proposed guidelines for school reopening.

The Niger State government has issued an order for the arrest of one of the state councillors who absconded with 30 bags of grains supplied as COVID-19 palliative for distribution in his constituency.

The Secretary to the Niger State Government (SSG), Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim Matane, who is the Chairman Niger State Taskforce on COVID-19, confirmed the report, adding that the Councillor was part of a Committee set up for the distribution of the grains to his community.
The state COVID-19 Taskforce Chairman also explained that the 30 bags comprised of 10 bags of rice, 10 bags of maize, and 10 bags of millet was allocated each to all the 274 wards across the 25 Local Government councils by the state government.
According to the Matane, “Committees have been set up in each of the 274 wards which comprises of Councillor, Party Chairman, Ward head, and a religious leader to monitor the distribution of the grains”.
Matane, who expressed disappointment over the attitude of the local government councillor, told journalists that security agents have been detailed to get him arrested for proper scrutiny and for the next line of action.

The Lagos State Police Command has taken Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele, and her husband, Abdulrasheed Bello popularly known as JJC Skillz, to court for flouting the lockdown order in Lagos State.

Two of the members of armed robbers who stormed Adura, the Alagbado area of Lagos State were apprehended by the boys.The armed robbers who are about 20 in numbers were on rampaged at Adura on Sunday after shooting periodically as they entered each house one after the other.

According to My State News we learnt that luck ran out two of the robbers, they were caught by Adura boys who came out in large numbers to defend themselves. The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has insisted that President Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, is not in the country as stated earlier.
