Business / Re: What Is The Biggest Challenge For People Selling Physical Products Online? by Technocratic(m): 12:46am On Jun 03
Logistics seems to be top among the challenges. @Godmother, do you think there's a viable solution for e-commerce business owners?

I'm thinking, what if they own their logistics?

Besides trust issues mostly on the part of buyers, which is understandable, what is the biggest challenge affecting smooth operation of e-commerce business for Nigerians in Nigeria?

Programming / Re: Debunk Machine Apocalypse... by Technocratic(m): 12:01pm On Sep 28, 2018
shakmati:
You are clearly mistaken.

OK. What's your take on the topic I raised?
Programming / Debunk Machine Apocalypse... by Technocratic(m): 10:56pm On Sep 26, 2018
You have heard it said that one day machines will surpass human intelligence as developments in artificial intelligence wants to make us believe.

But from my perspective and outlook about the whole saga, I find the above notion impossible. Why? Because a machine can only be as smart as its builder wants it to be.

Look at it this way, can you be more intelligent than God?

By the way, machines are made up of millions of transistors making up the 1s and 0s core of computers. As you may know already, computers are electronic mimics of the human brain.

On the whole, there will be nothing like machine Apocalypse, it only exist in science fiction stories...
Politics / The Problem With Nigeria by Technocratic(m): 10:29am On Apr 28, 2018
I was not born in the 50s to have witnessed the events that played out in the early days of Nigeria but thanks to history at least records of what happened are available.
Having gone through these records whether biased or not, i have gotten a foothold to begin my ponderings over the Nigeria dilemma.
When i attained the age of reasoning and making inferences over issues, knowing good from bad, i began to hear stories, stories which have become house hold anthem - things like corruption in Nigeria; looting, stashing funds in overseas bank accounts, diversion of funds meant for infrastructural development, poor quality of education, struggles of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) as led by Adams Oshiomohle, and even today, struggle continues for NLC, extra judicial killings by the police, acceptance of gifts (call it bribe at your peril), installation of broken down transformers in the villages in the name of rural electrification, bad roads, poor health delivery, corruption in the banking sector which saw the closing down of some banks, mergers and buy offs. It was called the "shake up in the banking sector" NNPC palavar, fuel scarcity, artficial scarcity (Intentional hoarding of PMS to create scarcity), the great protest in Lagos that trailed the removal of fuel subsidy by the GoodLuck Jonathan led administration, unatable pump prices, incessant strikes by students and non academic staffs of universities and polytechnics. I recall the great ASSU and ASSUP strikes that kept students at home for months).
A lot more happened but allow me to fast forward to Boko Haram insurgency, i think Chief Edwin Clark (The respected Ijaw elder statesman) has a story of the origin of the group, according to the story, they were not purposed for terrorism, if they were, i cannot say for sure. Now Boko Haram has caused untold pains and agony to families across Nigeria. There is no community without a maimed soldier who survived death by sheer luck in the hands of Boko Haram. Oh! how can i not talk about MEND (Movement for the Emancipation of Niger Delta) led by Asari Dokubo, the frequent kidnapping of expertriates (the reign of Niger Delta millitants crying out for their right---at least that is the message they sent to the wider world, wheteher this is mere pretence, i cannot say. Federal Government of Nigeria granted them amnesty, i think the late Musa Y'Adua administration, telling the boys to come out from the creeks. Then we have the protracted tale of Ogoni land cleansing , oil spillage, pipeline vandalization, bombing of oil facilities, gas flaring (Federal Govenment have been on this gas flaring issue for too long, looking for a lasting solution to the problem, is gas flaring a big problem? ) I know the oil companies give their host communities scholarships and other emoluments, but does it trickle down to the innermost parts of N'Delta as many of them live in squalor. Hmm! now i have satisfied my thirst on N'Delta.
Past president GoodLuck Jonathan tried to get rid of Boko Haram insurgency, we know the story, our soldiers, brothers paid dearly with their lives in the hope of achieving total expulsion of the insurgents. Then we had Chibok school girls abduction by B'Haram sects and the drama that followed, people said some of the released girls were never kidnapped , that Federal Government arranged the girls to act as a Chibok girls and to create the impression that they were making progress towards the release of all the girls. Oby Ezekwesili's #BringBackOurGirls campaign mostly on the social networking websites to create awereness about the ugly situation to the intrenational community, she used her twitter account well for this.
Now we have Fulani herdsmen, a group of nomads cattle rearers, stories have it that these herders are armed with AK47 rifles, millitary grade. Personally, i have not seen any of them with such weapon, the ones i do see in my village carry sticks for directing their cows and when the cows trample on crops, the herders duly apologize and leave the area immediately.
In view of all these, i think the killer herdsmen is a diversion to make Nigerians not to think critically about the issue and see that the killer nomads are a sort of special force put together to kill. I say this because the Fulani herdsmen i know do not kill, do not carry deadly rifles. Who uses AK47 without prior training on it's usage, surely these herders got some training.
Now, we have a replay of the Chibok incidence, this time it is called Dapchi girls abduction, i won't say much on this because, as with the Nigerian culture, facts about security issues could be very misleading, no one is ready to tell the truth.
Some people termed these killings "ethnic cleansing" but why?
Up till now, the war against Boko Haram is not over and won by the Nigerian Government, i wonder if Fulani herdsmen palavar is an off shoot of Boko Haram. Something that i still ponder about is the Islamic state issue (ISIS), they have have a strong network of adherents and keeps recruiting from every nooks of the world.
Nigerians do not know what to believe anymore.
What's keeping Nigeria as one, socially, economically? is it the oil? Why does a section of the country want to have control over other sections in the same country? Is something wrong with our constitution? What happened to the result of the 2014 national confab?
What is your definition of a better Nigeria?
I understand that no nation is perfect, but there are things which are accepted as better. Are we being realistic with the kind of Nigeria we want? Shouldn't we state specifically how we want Nigeria to be run, even if it means change of constitution or system of government?
Nigerians, what do we really want?
Boko Haram in Bornu, now Fulani herdsmen focused in Benue....Have your say!
