If you are looking to spend money for promotion, then Facebook is the best platform. But if you want a free platform to share your blog link and attract traffic, Twitter is the best place.

Note: To drive traffic from twitter, you must know how to use hastag. I mean using the right hastag, as this will be very instrumental in getting huge traffic from the platform.

Phones / How Google Has Managed To Maintain Its Dominance On The Internet Space by TechZiga: 4:35pm On Aug 03, 2018
With over $120.9 billion worth, Google today has cemented its dominance in the search engine business. The company is not only a dominant force in the search engine world, but also a major player in the tech industry. Although Founded on 4 September 1998, the company actually began in January 1996 as just a research project by Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Today the company is worth billions of dollars in revenue.

Have you ever wondered how a small company like Google became is rich and powerful, today I will like to share some few secrets. Before the coming of Google, they were the likes of IBM, Microsoft, and Yahoo. While IBM was solely focused on computer production, Microsoft on computer software, Yahoo was dominating the search engine business. Now the Question is, what happen to Yahoo, How did Google become the search engines dominant force with Yahoo in the game.

The truth is and according to Nigerians, they were so many factors involved. While this may be so, one dominate factor why Yahoo lost Google was the use sense. While Yahoo was using NetApp’s purpose-built storage appliances for almost all its File System, Google was building its own software-defined infrastructure. Before Google were able to complete its project, Yahoo was already at the top. The success of Yahoo was also their downfall as the cost and time of running and re-engineering NetApp platform became a problem. For every new service added by Yahoo, it needed to re-engineer the NetApp platform for that specific use case.

Now back to how Google has managed to maintain its dominance, the simple answer is Service For Free. Yes, you heard me right. Google dominance in the internet world is large due to the company offer a lot of service for free, in return for advertising. Wondering what services Google offer for free, check out your Gmail, Blogger, YouTube, Chrome browser and Android platform. All this service, are offered free of charge in exchange for advert placement.

Google makes billions of dollars on the internet by simply running ads on all of its free platform. Why you use the free platform, you get to see the ads and advertisers pays for you viewing the ads. Nice trick abi, yes it is. Now let me explain further, just in case you do not understand. Android is an open source platform, for ever smartphone that runs on Android, It comes with chrome as the default browser. The Chrome browser features Google search as its default search engine, so when you make any search, ads are displayed among the search and advertisers pays for this. This also applies to YouTube search, Gmail and Blogger. For Blogger, you have the option to run Adsense ad own by Google when you setup a free blogger account.

Google has been able to maintain dominance over the years and its not planning to relinquish that title anytime soon.

Oath Inc today announced that it is shutting down the once popular Yahoo Messenger come July 17th 2018. The service was once a very popular instant messaging apps back in the days, before the coming of WhatsApp, Viber, Facebook, Twitter and many others. The company says while it may be shutting the service down, your Yahoo ID remains intact for other services like Mail and fantasy sports.

Before now, Oath had also shut down AIM’s AOL Instant messenger back in December last year. Although the company gave no reason for the action, but it can be far from the dominance pose by the likes of WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and other chat service.

The company has been testing its new chat service call Squirrel for months. It is believed that this may be used to replace Yahoo messenger.

It also said the malware called Cosiloon was found in devices located in about 100 countries. This countries including Russia, Italy, Germany, the UK, as well as in the U.S.

The malware creates an overlay to present an ad over a webpage within the users’ browser. It says devices from manufacturers like ZTE and Archos are also affected. Avast revealed that majority of these devices are not certified by Google. It said it has contacted Google on the matter and that the Google is working on addressing the issue.

The malware comes pre-installed on the device making it harder to address. The company as revealed that the malware authors kept updating the control server with new payloads. Avast say even after this was discovered, the Manufacturers still continued to ship new devices with the pre-installed Malware.

Users can find the dropper in their settings (named “CrashService,” “ImeMess” or “Terminal” with generic Android icon), and can click the “disable” button on the app’s page, if available (depending on the Android version). This will deactivate the dropper, and once Avast removes the payload, it will not return.

Phones / Google Chrome 69 To Remove ‘secure’ Label On HTTPS Sites In September by TechZiga: 1:09am On May 19, 2018
Remember back in February, Google announced a deadline that starting from July 2018 its browser, will be displaying “not secure” labels on all HTTP sites. Read Post Here. The company has earlier in January 2017 released the Chrome 56 which marked HTTP pages as not secure. If you noticed, Google has been displaying the secure sign on all HTTPS site too. The aim was to encourage a safer and secure web browsing experience for web users.

The company in a blog post revealed that it will start removing the “Secure” label and HTTPS scheme when it rolled out its new Google Chrome 69 in September 2018. Google said the HTTPS usage on the web has taken off as they have evolved Chrome security indicators.

In the blog post, Google wrote;
"Users should expect that the web is safe by default, and they’ll be warned when there’s an issue. Since we’ll soon start marking all HTTP pages as “not secure”, we’ll step towards removing Chrome’s positive security indicators so that the default unmarked state is secure. Chrome will roll this out over time, starting by removing the “Secure” wording and HTTPS scheme in September 2018 (Chrome 69)."

Phones / 5 Main Features Of Android P You Should Know by TechZiga: 11:29am On May 09, 2018
Back in March Google released the first developer preview of Android P also now as Android 9. The developer preview came with some new features such as Indoor Positioning with Wi-Fi RTT, Display cutout or notch support, Enhanced messaging experience, Multi-camera support, HDR VP9 Video, HEIF image compression and more.

The company has new officially released a Beta (DP2) version of which brings even more features. In this post, we will be taking a look at some of the new features introduce by the Big G.

1) New System Navigation Gestures: Android P saw Google introducing a a new system navigation feature that allows users easier access to Home, Overview, and the Assistant from a single button on every screen. According to Google, the new feature makes multitasking and makes discovering related apps much easier.
In the Overview, users have a much larger view of what they were doing when they left each app, making it much easier to see and resume the activity. The Overview also provides access to search, predicted apps, and App Actions, and takes users to All Apps with another swipe.

2) Adaptive Battery: Google partnered with DeepMind to optimizes how apps use battery on Android P. Google says, Adaptive Battery uses machine learning to prioritize access to system resources for the apps the user cares about most.
It puts running apps into groups with different restrictions using four new "App Standby buckets" ranging from "active" to "rare". Apps will change buckets over time, and apps not in the "active" bucket will have restrictions in: jobs, alarms, network and high-priority Firebase Cloud Messages.

3) App Actions: What this does, is to help you get to your next task more quickly by predicting what you want to do next. They put your app's core capabilities in front of users as suggestions to handle their tasks, from key touch-points across the system like the Launcher and Smart Text Selection, Google Play, Google Search app, and the Assistant.
Google says it uses the same catalog of common intents as conversational Actions for the Google Assistant, which surface on voice-activated speakers, Smart displays, cars, TVs, headphones, and more.

4) Slices: This offers a new way for your apps to provide remote content to users. The feature makes it possible for you to surface rich, templated UI in places like Google Search and Assistant. interactive with support for actions, toggles, sliders, scrolling content, and more.
If you search for “Lyft” in Google Search, you can see an interactive Slice that gives you the price and time for a trip to work, and it’s interactive so you can quickly order the ride.
This is part for Android Jetpack, new set of libraries and tools for building apps. Through Jetpack, Slices implementation can target users all the way back to Kitkat — across 95% of active Android devices.

5) Background Restrictions: This features makes it possible for users to identify and manage apps that are using battery in the background. This allows you to lists the apps that are draining your batter and also restrict their background activities with a single tap.
Google also made it known that when an app is restricted, its background jobs, alarms, services, and network access are affected. To stay off of the list, pay attention to your Android Vitals dashboard in the Play Console, which can help you understand performance and battery issues.
