Politics / Ben Bruce Vs Buhari. Difference Between A Man Ready For A Job And One Who Is Not by TedRitz: 9:45am On May 12, 2015
I have always preferred men who have grown a business or actively served their community without a budget from government as leaders. What Nigeria has always had was spoonfed civil servant and military men whose salaries are ready at the end of the month, without thinking smart or being creative.

Ben Bruce has run a successful private business of global significance. His little dream of beauty pageant organization has grown into a national mainstay and has delivered a Miss World (Agbani Darego) a Miss Universe (Bianca Onoh) etc and has also become perhaps the most entertaining TV and radio station in Nigeria. Today he is a senator representing Bayelsa.

Ben Bruce has been highlighting his mission to the Senate. He has told the governors what he does when he is unable to pay salaries. He has never had the nipples of Niger Delta oil to suck from. Thus he is able to chastise governors waiting for money and embezzling the money for salaries like APC Aregbesola etc are doing. He has talked about salary cuts for senators and government officials.

Buhari on the other hand, used to huge military pensions and pension as ex head of state is already complaining of lower earnings for Nigeria. The cry-baby that he is, he has never grown a business so does not know what to do at all.

Anyway, 18 days is enough to teach an old dog new tricks. Tinubu must begin the orientation now on how to run an organization for Buhari. It is hugely needed.

By now we should be hearing serious policy statements and the direction he wil take, not asking what to hit Boko Haram with or saying he is ruling at a wrong time. Let us hear solutions and not problems. You told us the problem during campaign. Say solutions now Buhari.

Politics / Obasanjo Blames Babangida, Abacha, Buhari, Others For Power Sector Decay by TedRitz: 9:23am On Jan 07, 2015

Erstwhile President and former Head of state, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has held liable the administrations which succeeded him, as being responsible for the comatose state of the power sector.

Obasanjo was speaking about his first time as leader of Nigeria, when he served as Military Head of state between 1976 and 1979. According to him, the administrations of Maj-Gen Muhammadu Buhari, Shehu Shagari, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, Ernest Shonekan, Sani Abacha and Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, did little to improve power in Nigeria.

The former President made the comments in Abeokuta, at a programme tagged ‘First Green Legacy Moment with Chief Olusegun Obasanjo on Leadership and Human Security in Africa’, where he said that leaders in the country lack the political will to tackle national challenges.

He said, “Part of our problems is lack of political will on the part of the leaders. What does a leader understands about development? Any leader worth his salt should know that power is very important. It is the driver of all developments, be it social, economic, and even political. When I was military head of state, I developed the Jebba Dam, I developed Shiroro, I started Egbin. (Ex-President Shehu)Shagari came and completed Egbin and commissioned Jebba and Shiroro.”

“Between Shagari in 1983, until I came back in 1999, there was no single dime invested in power generation. If anything, the ones that were there were allowed to go down. A country like Nigeria must be adding not less than 2,000 megawatts every year if we are to be moving on the path of development,” Obasanjo added.

He also referred back to Bola Ige, who was the first Minister of Power in his second coming as a civilian President. Obasanjo revealed that the late Ige mat a lot of challenges in the power sector, despite his attempts to fix the sector.

He said, “If you will remember, when I came back in 1999, my first Minister of Power was late Bola Ige. I won’t say Bola didn’t know what he was doing and he said publicly that he would fix the power problems in six months. After one year, Bola with his capacity couldn’t fathom what was wrong with power. It was riddled with corruption. Then we had no money. People have forgotten that in 1999/2000, the price of crude oil was US $9 per barrel. So, I wanted the oil companies, Mobil, Total and they wouldn’t go.”

“When we started having money, we started the National Integrated Power Plant. When we said the money we had should be invested in power, my successor didn’t understand; he stopped it. If for almost 20 years we did not achieve anything in power generation, then we may not be able to get it again.”

Furthermore, Obasanjo lamented the fact that Nigeria with an estimated population of over 180 million people, could not generate 4,000 megawatts, while South Africa, despite it’s population of 55 million people, manages to generate 45,000 megawatts.

“For us to say that we are industrialising country, we must be generating much more than what South Africa is generating, say 100,000 megawatts. What year will Nigeria get there if we are adding 2,000 megawatts each year? For us to get to 100,000 mega watts, I leave the mathematics to you. It sounds very discouraging but that is the reality.”

I am not going to listen to a girl who says the f... word five times in one minute. If you think that this person has something reasonable to say, then listen to her, I don't have to. I can't take such a girl seriously. If you feel that you or someone else don'T want to listen to feminists, then that is your choice. I have no problem with it.

Talking about double standards, this is actually one of the things that feminism is against. Just because some feminists give the movement a bad name and are hypocritical, doesn't change the fact that feminism is about equality in the first place.
We all know that some Catholic priests have abused children but that is not a reason to say that all Catholic priests do and to abandon Christianity altogether.

We may have different opinions but we have been able to have some blurry common ground on 4 things.

1. Even tho the definition of feminism on the surface is about equal rights for women. Some if not majority of feminist are hypocritical and promote double standards. (My question has always been what is the feminist movement doing to fix this).

2. Feminist do not care about protecting male rights ... because they feel society has been designed to favor men, they want to fix this imbalance. When in reality society is more harder on men than women...

(a) So why should men care about the rights of women, when they do not give a damn about theirs.
(b) Shouldn't the society be more equally harder on women as it is on men for equality to take place.

3. The way a message is passed across determines how well it would be received ... this point is supported by the way you reacted to the video I shared. This also suggest Men are therefore right in the way they see and treat some women/feminist, because the problem may really not be in the message but in the way it is been passed across.

In this light, Men may actually be right to see women as sex objects, because that's what majority of them try to exude and pass across. given that we are in a generation where millions of women spend more money trying to look sexy than invest in been smart.

4. A feminist's opinion should only be taking seriously, when it is discovered he or she has a track record of not been hypocritical or promoting double standards. Because the fact remains some feminist in trying to fix the double standard they feel women face create their own set of double standards against men. Do you think as a feminist you should be taking seriously in this light ?

I have listened to this girl for one minute and turned it off. Why would I continue listening to someone who speaks like this? Come on!
I can't take her seriously. She sounds like a ghetto chick from a broken home. Sorry!

If you think that most feminists are misandrists and se*xist, then that is your opinion and I respect it but I don't share it.

You listened for one minute, and judged her opinion because of the way she sounds and termed her ghetto. Without hearing her out or trying to understand the valid points she was making. (majority of them came several minute into the video)*.

If Men are to judge women by the way they sound, and act just as you did. Can you blame them for not taking feminist women seriously. Just as you just showcased now.

@bolded ... I never expect or intend to convince you to share my opinion in the first place. My focus is highlighting the fact that one of the reasons men do not take feminist seriously is because of their glaring double standards ... and their anti men stance majority of them take in the name of seeking equal rights.

Feminism emerged because men have been enjoying more political, economic and social rights. Feminism seeks to abolish this imbalance and give women THE SAME rights men have been always enjoying.

Why did you choose to ignore the part in red?

MOST feminists do not want to violate men's rights, but simply have the same, establish equality regarding political, economic and social rights, not inequality.

Good thing you used the word "most" not "all" . But the reality is reverse the case.

I think you meant to say " Very FEW feminist do not want to violate men's right , but simply have the same, establish equality regarding political, economic and social rights not inequality. "

I am not against equal rights, but against the double standards and hypocritical nature of MOST feminism and the fact that they Fight for equal rights when it suits them and running away from the consequences that comes with it.

For example.
This video really summarizes some of my views.

I think the moment women can decide collectively as a specie bear the consequences of been equal with men. In that moment men will see them as equals.

If it was only about equality for women but not for men, how would it be equality? Your post doesn't make sense at all.

Different definitions of feminisim

Belief in or advocacy of women's social, political, and economic rights, especially with regard to equality of the sexes.

Emphasis on the word Women. What happens to the social, political and economic right of the men. Does it men's right are not been violated and do not deserved to be fought for.

Another definition "an organized activity in support of women's rights and interests ". (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/feminism)
What happens to Mens right and interest ... should they be trampled on the alter of feminism.

Feminism is a form of glorified sexisim.
Family / Is This True About Feminisim by TedRitz: 9:56am On Dec 20, 2014
Most feminist aren't about equality they are solely about sexism towards men. Feminism is actually a sexist term claiming women only deserve equality which is a very sexist perception. feminist aren't about equality which means for both men and women equally.

Is this true? ... Discuss.

Hey! I'm not APC per say. I'm for change, something different. If APC can present that, why not give them the chance?

FYI, there are only a few APC guys I care about : Fashola, Okorocha, Oshiomole, Aregbesola, Ngigie, Amaechi, Tambuwal, kwankwaso, and maybe Buhari. I couldn't possibly care any less about the rest.

Not everyone against GEJ is for APC. Get that into your heads.

If you are for change, your focus would be pushing for APC to field Fashola not Buhari... Times have changed, this is not the 70's, Buhari has no major achievement aside his strictness and WAI crusade ... he strikes me as fanatic, and someone who is bitter. APC failed the moment they sidelined Fashola because for me he is best APC has to offer. He is the definition of progressive. followed by Oshiomole.

If APC means well for Nigerians they should give us Fashola.
